OFFICIAL Jersey Flegg Cup

How did they go in the fight? Lock them in if they gave it to those cats!
Johannssen got sin binned for throwing the footy at the roosters hooker that was throwing punches and Faagutu was the one that was getting swung at again by the Roosters 9. He was sin binned for apparently throwing a punch but Faagutu was arguing he didn’t throw anything.

There was a mini commotion in the Carpark afterwards however with Faagutu approaching the Roostes hooker but the Roosters hooker left besides his dad and didn’t want any part of it

Roosters 9 sounds like a cat .. what started the altercation?

Roosters started to get a little dirty after we got up following Faagutus try. Roosters 9 picked up Johannssen in a dangerous tackle which Faagutu ran in and that’s when the roosters 9 started throwing punches at Faagutu

How did they play individually, how does Faagatu look to be progressing ?
How did Max Liles and Jared Haywood go ?

Faagutu had a shaky start in attack to begin the game but his aggressive defence was there especially against the much bigger roosters forward pack. He got better as the game went on hence the try before he was sin binned.

I like Max Liles and Jared Haywood together. Great communicators with Liles controlling the game and Haywood playing eyes up footy and backing himself.

One to keep an eye on after yesterday’s game is Fangavalu Hammond in our centres. Big body and great getting our boys out of trouble. Runs hard and good defender on our left side. Bagged himself a try as well

It was game riddled with errors from both teams but you could see who was standing out in our Flegg team.

Sadly another loss today. 24-14 to the Knights, likely out of the 8 after the weekend.
Seems very likely across the top 7 grades for males we'll only make the finals in a one grade. A sad indictment on the club which supposedly has talented players. The thing is, every other club has players just as talented kids as we do. And they can develop and improve them better than we can, so we need to think carefully about this whole development player thing, we can't exclusively rely on it

I don’t agree that the group coming through isn’t highly talented and more than most. It’s just that we are rushing them through because we’re desperate. I don’t agree with all the rushing, put them back into flegg. Change the winning culture there and let it flow through.

Don't think our Flegg side much reflects anything - if you named a full strength U21 side I don't know that any of those playing would make it.

Mason
Laulii
Feledy
Saukuru

Fainu
Galvin
Matamua
Sukkar
Broederlow
Miller
DeSilva
Kit

Ako
Nicholas
Hodges
Herman

And plenty of others who have played up this year

Almost 3rd or 4th string juniors playing Flegg in most positions

I think that is Lathami’s point. Why are we not trying to build a winning culture in the lower grades and have that as a basis to supplement our senior grades.
I mean we won HM 2 years ago and decided to sign 7 or 8 of the team to pathways / first grade contracts.
We had DaSilva play half his games in SGBall this year and once he was no longer in the side their form dropped off the cliff.
I guess there is the other side that we are moving these players up to get more experience in the higher grades opening up opportunities for younger players in the grades below. But are the younger players below good enough?
I’m curious, much of last years and this year SGBall make up our Jersey Flegg team?

Like others, I get the exposure and experience thing, but if you compare it to the Panthers, when all those young guys came through, they had been very successful all the way through, much like the young Bulldogs players now.
It’s a bit cart before the horse thing that we are doing.
