It was a bit of a meh game tbh.

Not strong opposition and the ref was terrible. It felt like he blew a penalty every set of six (for too high or inside the 10) so it was hard for either team to build any continuity.

Our hands and execution of structured plays in the 1st half was pretty bad but understandable with the chopping and changing of this side and spine lately.

I thought Haywood once again produced a classy display out of dummyhalf. Liles & Tannous had some good moments in the halves and a few try assists between them. Brookes (Deineiger) was good at the back and made some half-breaks being able to utilise his step and some good cover in defence.

Our left side was strong with Saukuru producing some strong carries & good hands. Mitch Taotua in the centres was once again one of our best with his carries, defence and also nice fast hands to put away Kanaan 1 or 2 times. Kanaan was up and down, some poor handling errors in the 1st half but some excellent finishing for 2 tries.

Archie Duncombe is starting to settle nicely into this grade and scored a nice try off a Liles ball. Godinet only got about 15 mins as left backrow, 2 or 3 strong carries. Broederlow was Broederlow, strong carries & good in D without being outstanding but did his job. A few errors and found out with high balls a few times was Will Craig offset by a try and strong runs out of yardage.

Leatigaga also looked good when he was on on both sides of the ball but unfortunately was assisted off with an ankle or lower leg issue with about 10 to go.

In summary, loving the progression of Mitch Taotua, Haywood, Kanaan, Leatigaga & Duncombe. Brookes, Tannous & Godinet just need time at this level but all 3 look likely. And Saukuru is starting to up the ante and hopefully time in the backrow will be a masterstroke.

EDIT PS: Once again we just lack power & impact in the middle. Epere is a big lump but slow & cumbersome.
Yep forget about last week, they beat a team running last who was matching them most of the game.
Tomorrow's game will explain how good this team and new coach are.
Cronulla won 46-20 in round 8, would expect there would be a vast improvement on that performance.
If not then the changing of the coach hasn't helped and changes to squad would indicate they new players are out of their depth.Wait and see I suppose.

Actually the game will prove nothing that you mention. New players and coaches need time.

I find it strange that we continually name Christian Taupau-Moors (about the 3rd or 4th time it has happened now) and then pull him out on game day. Really keen to see how he goes in Flegg and it would be great for his development.

Great to see Logan Deinenger as a late inclusion. But equally puzzled by Archie Duncombe being moved to 18th man after being one of our best last week.

Just a rotation policy perhaps for the 18/19yos. CTM & Godinet may have schools comp games on Wednesday too.

But strange that Deinenger pushes Kanaan to the wing again. And Riley Oitmann has not been given a look-in yet.

Yeah just really keen to see CTM get that Flegg debut and every game he gets named and then pulled out. Surely they would know about his school comp games prior to naming him?

Anyway, sure he will get his chance at some point.

Great win by the boys 30 to 18.

Pretty good performances all round. Mataale looked really impressive at prop. Backrowers Saukuru and Broederlow were a handful all game and provided plenty of threats.

Liles looked dangerous. As did Logan at fullback. He is also put his hand up for plenty of dirty carries out of our own end. Would love to see him after a full NRL pre season.

Haywood was classy as always and had some really nice touches.
