Nearly pulled off a win on the siren in the JF trial with fast winger Jack Piccirilli looking like he scored but denied by the officials.

IMO our best were Max & Mitch Taotua, Iverson Matai, Tom Fisher, Levi Conti (2nd half), Jack Piccirilli who has express pace on the wing, scored 2 nearly 3 from memory, Jeremiah Leatigaga & livewire fullback Creedence Donovan-Kelly.

i re-watched the game, Mitch Taotua was disappointingly quite lazy in defence, he could have done better to prevent a couple of tries in the first half.
His attacking attributes and game looks very promising, but will need to work hard on his defensive effort.
I thought Piccirilli added a point of difference that we have not had within our club for while, blistering pace, turning half chances into line breaks/tries.

A lot of players coming on and off the field, no combinations. Parra was far superior. Not sure how strong their side was but they blew us away before we scored a bunch at the death. A lot of errors and poor discipline, as is the way

I really don't understand why we as a club don't value speed. We must be the slowest team in every grade. Speed provide X factor. It can turn a bit of space into points.
Every time Piccirilli got the ball he looked like he could run the length of the field. Promising player

Hopefully the coaches run through the video form the game and pinpoint the areas for each player to improve

Still a lot of talent to return to this side. Should be strong

I agree BB, we don’t often see anyone within our grades that has blinding speed, you often notice one from the opposition.
Hopefully the tide is slowly turning with our way of thinking as it’s clear to see the blue print at most successful NRL clubs is to look at certain body shapes and characteristics within their talent ID.
It’s really not that hard as aside from your dominant game controlling playmakers, you need players with above average size and speed who run the ball strongly and can regularly make tackle breaks/line breaks and big post contact metres.
You need at least a couple of players in key positions such as fullback and wing that have blustering speed.
You ideally want edge back rowers and centres with good size and speed, also brains and attitude to know how to use it.
Of course all players ideally need to be good reliable defenders, but there is much more chance of good coaching being able to coach good attitude and good defence, than there is of being able to coach someone to make tackle busts, line breaks and good post contact metres.
Then there is still room for a few players that may be smaller than average, but compensate and more than make up for it with their toughness and high energy style of play.

What an absolute embarrassment these chumps dished out today. First half they coasted through 22-0. Only to then concede 34 points in 30 mins to start the second half to lose. They just absolutely refused to tackle, a horrendous culture that our club has. We just don't know how to tackle. In any grade. Penalties, missed tackles, Knock ons.
Absolutely abysmal.
Very few players capable of playing at a higher level than Flegg here. Can essentially rule them all out as prospects.
Craig's contract should be terminated with immediate effect. He'll never be good enough for Cup. He's too small and dumb. He was ridiculously poor today, especially considering his NRL status. His sin binning the icing on the cake.
Once again our side is too small, too slow, too dumb and too lazy. Just like every grade for the past few years.

Yep woeful start to the season for our club in all 3 grades again.

I can’t think of one player in our club who leads/attacks with his defence except for some in 19s & 17s.

If they all can’t respond next week (NRL, Cup, Flegg), questions need to be asked about their individual intent & ability.

We dominated all the early ball and got up 10 nil after 15 to 20 minutes. But Parra are now just scoring at will on our right defensive edge. Matai, Broederlow, Max Taotua and Will Craig need to work together and harden up with their first up contact. The heat will play a factor...but with all our early ball, the heat should have impacted Parra more than us.

TIno Tavana looks real athletic and skilful. Put Craig away for a try and another linebreak. Liles brings a calm head and a good kicking game as the 7.

The pack should look quite different after SG Ball season finishes....certainly could do with a few more big boys.

Eels up 16 to 10 at half time.

Good summary TW. It was a tale of two halves in that 1st half wasn't it?! Yep all 3 tries of theirs were lines run between our 5/8 & backrower. It's actually Mitch Taotua on that side not Broederlow. Some very disappointing defensive efforts from Matai & Mitch Taotua for all 3 tries.

Must say Solo Saukuru is playing with intent in both attack & defence today, may have received a rocket this week. Have him, Liles & Broederlow amongst our best so far.

My bad on the 2nd rowers. They must have switched the numbers around different to the NSWRL lists to throw me! Haha
Both supporting a similar hairstyle didn't help either.

Yeah hopefully Solo sees some more ball in this 2nd half to show what he can do.

No actually you’re right Broederlow is on the right in 2nd half. Will have to go back & check 1st half in case they have switched sides. Look very similar lol

Apologies it was Broederlow on the right edge in the 1st half, 2 bad defensive efforts wth Matai costing tries.
All good. They look nearly identical out there.
Mitch Taotua in that case is having a great game. He looks to have developed more as a player since I saw him play in 2024. Nice short ball to put Solo through there who also did well to set up Piccirili.

What's the coverage like, is it worth the $?
Depends how many games you would watch I guess. I find plenty of value in it but others might not.

Some games have commentary, but many of them don't. The camera is usually around halfway, however the game today is positioned on the 10m line. So there is a bit of long distance viewing. The score seems to be accurate, but the time on the screen doesn't account for stoppages and keeps ticking away which is different to the actual game clock. I haven't seen any technical issues that have been experienced yet.
