This really was an atrocious performance, but not much more can be expected when this side just lacks quality.
The halves are terrible. Drop Bailey immediately. He's a backup to Pritchard, a running 5/8. But he's a terrible halfback. No kicking game, no passing game. He's not good enough for Flegg, drop him now to Shield.

Both the wingers are utterly useless. How on earth can we think it's ok to have small and slow wingers? They can't make metres, they can't score, they offer absolutely nothing. Cut them both. If Lanyon was playing he'd have scored a hat trick today.

Our forwards for absolutely monstered by a much bigger and better pack. Jordan Miller made our boys look like useless little kids, but that Visconte had a barn Stormer. In comparison all of our props were rubbish. Roberts played a bit then disappeared. Why?! Duncombe tried hard, tackled well but had no impact in attack.
CTM and Godinet whilst slightly better are just not up to Flegg yet. Drop them to Ron Massey and may then get used to playing men of a lesser ability.
Laupepa and Leatigaga were both ok , had some impact in attack but again too small in defence.
Haywood tried but made poor choices. Not easy with no halves or props on the field. Often tried too next

McMenemy was a back for Wests last year but was better than any of our forwards.

Logan Brookes was easily our best, very involved, always trying to make something happen. He had no space or momentum to work with but kept busting his ass.

Our pathways are a joke though, nowhere near enough talent in any grade. We don't value acceleration or speed as Hey attributes, or we just can't afford to sign players with Pace or power.

It's an absolute disaster for us. A mistake that must be corrected ASAP.

Small slow dumb players do not win you matches
Our Jersey Flegg team who lost against the Eels on Saturday was not small in comparison to the Eels team.
They lost the battle on lack of leg speed, lack of energy and lack of aggression.
We have a much bigger problem with lack of leg speed when running the ball and lack of energy to demonstrate good line speed and aggression when defending than what we do in lack of size.
If someone weighs 95kgs and does everything at high intensity and with aggression verses someone who weighs 110kgs but does everything at half pace, lacks intensity and lacks aggression, who is the more valuable player ?
Jordan Miller created some good impact against us due to his size, but he was as slow and lazy as ever and we should have been exploiting his lack of mobility which for some reason we did not do.

Quite a good summary of the game, who played well and who played poorly.
Our best 3 players were as you stated were Logan Brookes, Archie Duncombe and Jeremiah Leatigaga.
None of them are big in stature for their position, but all 3 play with good energy and plenty of heart, they need some others in this team to play with the same attitude and commitment.
I agree Jared Haywood wasn’t at his best, but he tried hard, just looked a bit frustrated with too many of his team mates not up for the physical battle.
For that reason I also think you are being a little bit harsh on Bailey Smith, he had a good game the week before when we were regularly getting on the front foot, but struggled in this game without being able to play on the front foot very often.
For me the jury is still out on whether he is good enough to lead our Jersey Flegg team to playing finals in 2026 or not, but we don’t exactly have any halves from our SG Ball teams ready to challenge him unfortunately.

If Logan Brookes eventually moves up to Cup (and he should do the way he is playing), I would like to see them put Bailey Smith to 1.
I think his vision and running game is good but just doesn’t quite have the game management skills to be a 7. Bring in James Marriott or Ryder Huth or one of the other halves we signed.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Pritchard at 9 eventually too. I think he’s a better hooker than he is a half.

1 Smith
6 Edwards-Moeke
7 Marriott
9 Pritchard
14 Talisau

Also I assume Roberts was on limited game time being first game back from injury? That’s why he went off so early?
