Sure, Madden could'nt organise a try last week with Luke Brooks by his side.

Huge different between the two.
Brooks has had mentoring under Benji and a stack of seasons to get his game right.
Madden has had half a season at best. Now no excuses, Madden needs to perform.

Yet:
Madden is still a development player. Putting him at Reserve half behind Brooks and Hastings makes a stack of sense. Learn the game Jock and don't let people pump your tyres and Ego like M Moses did!

I agree and think he might come good after serving an apprenticeship. Probably more so at a stronger club. But for him to come out through the week and declare himself a first grader was a bit premature imo
 
Teams target attacking threats or defensive weaknesses.
If Madden continues to impress and becomes a threat, teams will try to shut him down.
Lets see how Madden goes in the NRL when he is under the microscope.
It's then we could make a genuine assessment of the lad.
 
Left field suggestion. Putting Jock on the bench when Hastings returns.
Obviously he comes into the game at right side half around the time Peachey usually comes on thus moving Hastings into the middle.

Alternatively given the way Liddle plays against a tired retreating defence Id even consider starting Madden and starting Hastings at hooker. Then making the same change re Hastings going into the middle around the 20min mark with Liddle coming into hooker.
 
It was rumoured that he wanted more money than we were willing to pay, but the real reason was that he cut Lee's grass.
