I don't understand the appeal either.
Maybe it's loyalty towards some one who showed loyalty to us during the dark era when all our favourites were talking out of the club.
Either way, everything you said is correct and I believe this will be his final year at the club.

Jock should be moved straight to halfback. Brooks moved to bench 9. Peach 6. Jock is ready. He's fresh. Smart. Good kicking game. Needs to grow from here. Brooks unfortunately has a negative mind set and that's because of Madge. It's not working. Brooks and Madge are done .. sooner both go the better.

As much as I want Brooks dropped from the halves and the captaincy, I could be interested in seeing this tried. Brooks cannot lead a team around and control a game, I feel that has been demonstrated more than enough, but seeing how he might go as a utility or super sub type of player might be interesting.. given a role that he is unfamiliar with with no pressure or expectations or responsibilities might just be a master stroke for Brooks and his career and the coach with enough vision and guts to take a punt on it! who knows? 🤔

Of course they’re not the reason but they’re pretty damn representative of everything wrong with the club in not holding the playing group accountable and always blaming the coach.
It’s just annoying when clowns like paws refuse to acknowledge that we’ve had 5 coaches over the last 10 years, 3 of which have won premierships at other clubs, and they haven’t been able to get anything out of the playing group. Yet they call for the coach to be sacked every three years because they refuse to hold the players accountable for producing garbage for nearly a decade and creating a toxic culture at the club.

Tell that to Wayne Bennett, he seems to be able to turn culture around pretty quick,, definitely doesn’t take teams consistently backwards for 4 straight years and counting!
I am noticing a switch in roles over the last few weeks. Where madden is taking more of the traditional halfback role. I wonder if this is the club getting used to being without Brooks.
As for the halves performance, i thought both did some good things and some poor things. I think Brooks does a lot in a game that he gets no credit for especially around cover Defence and effort plays. Their kicking games were both inconsistent and once again would look a lot better if our team actually competed for high balls or chased kicks harder.

Oh right Wayne Bennett, just the greatest NRL coach of all time, who only goes to teams with multiple rep players 🙄 that’s the example you’re going with? Try again and actually try using your brain and some common sense in your next response
Here’s some news you may not be aware of but the club has been going backwards for 10 years in terms of actually competing and if you think that only began with Madge, then there’s no helping you.

Fact = NRL is a results driven business. Maguire does not have the results.
Fact = Maguire is in his fourth year and has assembled most of the playing group.
Fact = this is a democracy and others are allowed to have differing views if the are presented in a respectful manner without resorting to insults or name calling.

Results driven applies both ways yet you seem to only ever see it one way which is why it’s hard to take anything you say seriously. And yet the players have never delivered results under the last 4 coaches with the serial underachievers still at the club who you continually make excuses for.
Madge is also the 5th coach in 10 years (3rd premiership winning coach) who is struggling to get anything out of this playing group. I’m yet to see you acknowledge that there is a problem with the player culture but you think Brooks should stay in the halves so that tells me all I need to know about you and your footy knowledge.
Respect? I lurked here for ages and you never missed an opportunity to be condescending anytime some called your opinion out. I’m not even going to mention how dishonest and deliberately obtuse you become when people tear apart your arguments (I.e Madge doesn’t care about player welfare)
And in a democracy, I’m allowed to say when those opinions are stupid and that goes both ways and I’m happy to debate that. And don’t act shocked when someone calls you out for trying to smear a coach as not caring about player welfare when you know it’s blatantly untrue.

I’m amused at the way some refer to Ivan Cleary as having great success with the club. 😂
He has coached Warriors and Panthers twice, had Tedesco, Woods, Farah and Moses, but failed to have success at Tigers, just like every other coach since Sheens was sacked.

If Brooks chose to leave (he is the loyal type and is under contract for another two years), he would be in demand.

Wayne Bennett had more going for him that just coaching good teams. He is an excellent player manager and had the ability to tell a player when his time was up a year or so before it happened eg Wally Lewis. He also had a legendary recruitment officer in Cyril Connell who brought so many outstanding players to the Broncos under Bennett. Writing him off as you have done undersells his contribution to rugby league.

Ah so this is how you’re trying to frame the argument now and avoid answering any questions. Typical paws. What were the excuses for the playing group under the other coaches?
If you think a premiership winning coach like Madge won’t have opportunities after this, then you’re even thicker than that wood you work.
Brooks in demand with who? Newcastle and the Bulldogs? That’s adorable. And loyal type? It was just reported that he asked for his release twice. Not to mention no one offered him the money tigers offered during the big 4 mess and the extension so it wasn’t like he had many options.
None of the teams competing for the top 8 or even top 12 are demanding Brooks services because he is a halfback with a crap kicking game and low footy iq and there is not a shred of evidence you can produce that shows otherwise.
