Happy with this signing must have something special about him to get 3 years off the bat and I reckon Roberts will be our 29th spot just my opinion but won’t be surprised with it but I hope Junior Tupou does well and can hopefully get a run next year

I would say that this signing almost guarantees that Roberts will not get a top 30 deal with us.

Why have an old unreliable and broken down ferrari when there's a brand new lamborgini in the garage?

With Tupou now signed we’re at 28 and there still isn’t a lot of talent left on the market for 22 so I reckon our final 2 spots will be 1 back and 1 forward just my opinion but if we do it that way unless they are gonna promote one of our lower grade players Roberts will defs get a contract for 2022

That's jibberish. We've got 800k to spend on 2 players. Why would we spend 150k on a proven failure. He offers little. Far more likely to sign Cotric than Roberts IMO.

Tupou has size, pace and skill. He's got to show he can do it at a higher level but he looks to be the best backline prospect at the club. Potentially a better version of Ogden. But that remains to be seen.

I don't know Kei is long for our squad....

He's an unknown.

Apparently he was a gun coming through Parra tho.
Very good mates with Stef too.

Haven't seen anything from him in a Tigers jersey tho.

Mate watched him closely in the Blue & Gold,
He was 50/50 on him...
Can't see him progressing much further.

Then he is exactly what we’ve been needing for quite some time now.
I’m really pleased we are now more focussed on younger recruits with desire and ability, rather than the retirees who talk about leadership as they walk to the scrum.

Agree,

This is the right strategy to change the roster and the culture of our club.

Now t**he Fans to trust Madge, Sheens and the team of coaches to mentor these guys to fully fledged First graders.**

We need to remember that we need to be patient especially in 2022 when times may get rocky.

I agree with you but it's likely another year of missing the finals and there are going to be a tonne of nukes going off. The media will pile in.

We just got to keep making good decisions in relation to the players we bring to the club.

Agree Earl,

However just like the dogs last year, I think our fans and the Media will understand that 2023 is the year that this club really sees the fruits of the work being done now.

Jeremiah Nanai and Cotric will help greatly

Go Hard for these signatures WTs

I still think 2022 will be a good year. Hastings is the key signing IMO.

would love to agree, but next year is going to be tough. as long as we continue to develop the kids and manage to hang in games then I'll be happy. if we can land some decent signatures for 2023 and show some progression then I'm ok with copping a poor season. consistent success is probably still 2-3 years away for mine.

I agree we need to be competitive, but we also need some spark to give the fans something to cheer about at the games. Among other potential signings/signings, Junior Tupou could be this type of player.

I hope for our sake he is as good a prospect as a few on here are saying, a big outside back who can play multiple positions. Warren Mac, has been punted from here before and was punted from the dogs after signing multiple dud kids for decent money and development deals, roumanos, winters Chang, Harding, valevatu, another kid from qld he gave 150,000 a year and never got out of Sydney shield, all because he was a squat holding record at some school. Over the past 10 years his record isn’t great at getting the elite talent as a matter of fact he used to rely heavily on two particular player managers , which ultimately sealed his fate at the dogs I was told. Fingers crossed old peter griffin(as he is known in certain circles), has found a gooden in Tupou.

I think he is the most important signing we've made in a while. He should slot into the spine. If he is quality we should improve a fair bit.

We may jag some more players as well. I reckon we are a dark horse to have a good season next year. We may be able to build on that as well.

I agree but you never know. Sometimes teams over perform. We typically under perform but it'd be great to see that change next year.

We also now have some options in one of our worst positions.

Hopefully reuniting with Sheen's sees a clear message on the type of player required. He may be a one trick pony but that trick may suit the style Sheen's wants to implement.

I think the Peach ? signing will be a dark horse , back in Sydney and just let him play that roving role off the bench. Still have hope he can recapture his panthers form

Junior Tupou is ready for the biggest opportunity of his young career — linking up with Wests Tigers on an NRL contract. Having played rugby league across his junior career, Tupou spent a year with the Brumbies in rugby union but is now eager for a fresh opportunity in the 13-man code.

Born and bred in New Zealand, Tupou crossed the ditch and moved to Australia as a 14-year-old with dreams of playing in the NRL — a goal he’s aiming to achieve in 2022.

With speed and slick footwork, the new recruit can feature anywhere in the outside backs but has spent most of his career in the centres.

Tupou played for Canberra at the Junior Representative levels, featuring for the Raiders in SG Ball and Harold Matthews.

The talented youngster also played for New South Wales at the U/16’s and U/18’s levels and was called into the Junior Wallabies squad while playing rugby union earlier this year.

He will join the NRL squad on a deal that will see him wear Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2024 NRL season.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to link up with Wests Tigers,” Tupou said “When the chance to come to Wests Tigers came up, I jumped at the opportunity.”

“I’m looking forward to joining the squad for pre-season training this week, and I can’t wait to pull on the Wests Tigers jersey.”

Tupou has the goal of making his NRL debut, but is prepared to bide his time while learning off the senior players at Wests Tigers.

“I’m excited to play alongside so many talented players at the club, but the guy I’m looking forward to playing with the most is Adam Doueihi,” Tupou said.

“He’s been one of the best players over the past couple of seasons and I’m eager to learn off him.

“It would be a dream of mine to play in the NRL and it would mean so much to me and my family if the opportunity arose to make my first grade debut.”

That would’ve meant that the kid was 16yrs old at the time and was picked for the under 18’s🤔
