Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

Here's some highlights of young prop Herman Tofaeono's season.

He's still raw and needs to work on fitness and defence, like most young forwards but he's just got that powerful rampaging impact that could be really devastating. He's not huge but his legs are like tree trunks . Warrants another 2 year contract for train and trial at least imo

Need to give him an NRL Pre-season with the squad and see how he travels. I agree....train and trial would be good. There is something there to work with!

Haven’t you posted multiple times this year about having too many short players?

Yeah Lakeman is a good one. Was one of our standouts in our Andrew Johns Cup team this season that made GF & just won Macarthur U16 premiership with Camden Rams. I reckon he’s a halfback who features on the WT depth chart & probably a reason why Alex Isdale looked elsewhere.
Lakeman's dad coached the side.
Alex Isdale's dad coach his team.
Hope there is no repeat of early exits if it looks too hard to progress? Or promises in contracts.

With all our concern about the release of Onitoni Large, I thought I'd have a crack at producing a pathways depth chart for each position.

It helps put things in perspective & has shown that if we did lose Ashton Large too, we are well stocked in that position.

I have put an * next to those I class as absolute high priority retentions and age in brackets.

The chart is based on a combination of how far they progressed this season, making rep teams, media reports highlighting WTs priority player & my own observation.

Appreciate if other regular junior rep watchers have any others to add in or dispute current position.

BWG just read your pathways depth chart .Thankyou for your hard work I'm sure we all appreciate it I know I do

Look who they put on the front. We have
a battle on our hands to retain Makasini

Live today from 11am he's starting on the wing
For anybody that's interested in his progression.

Starved him of the ball the whole second half Maybe
touched it twice, the 15 bassingwaigth is a hog, kept
dying with the ball & didn't feed him. That's how
league can win him over, you can catch a cold on
the wing in union sometimes with the complete lack
of involvements and opportunities. Scored 2 mad
tries in the 1st half. He's a bluechip winger for sure

He's a talented player.

And one we have to keep. No options. If we lose him, everyone must resign. The entire identity and purpose of the club depends on his signing

scored a beautiful try. should've had another if the referee played advantage.

Just as an aside, this really gets up my nose.
Why don't the refs play advantage all the time?
Not just blow the whistle to stop play, and nullify the attacking team's probable potential to score.
When did the refs lose this option?
Crazy new style, so wrong to me.

Rugby Union referees get paid by how many penalties they can give while Rugby League referees get paid by how many mistakes they make. Both types are a detriment to the game

Horrible, but true,
Still doesn't make life any better.
The "advantage rule" application makes me cranky every game.

At least in union, when the advantage is given, the ref throws out his arm to signify that advantage is up for grabs, and play will revert to a penalty at that spot if a try doesn't follow etc.

A great result by the U16 cubs! Not much anywhere in terms of match report but a few standouts listed:

The visiting Cubs proved too strong in their match against the Titans, with Jhevon Lele, Siotame Havea Jr. and Bill Antonopoulos just a handful of the standouts in a well-rounded team effort.
Goodfield, Lele, Lakeman, A. Large and Havea is a damn good HM spine for next year.

I think Alex Isdale's brother is due to appear in the backline somewhere as well.

Be interesting if Ashton Large appears in the WM HM summer squad which may be announced today or tomorrow with the other junior rep squads.
