Just how good is Luke Brooks?

It's a make or break yr, like it is for a few guys we've had in the side for the last 2 or 3 yrs living off potential. He's shown glimpses, but now is the time to show us consistently. If not, we need to cut our losses and see who else is out there on the open market.

Bulldogs are circling Brooks for 2017

Along with a few other clubs. Melbourne are desperate to find a replacement for Cooper Cronk, but it is the old story a winning club is a happy club and I expect if we can win our fair share of early games it will be a lot easier to retain our 6 and 7

I think this could be his real break out year.

If we don't have him snapped by by mid season his value might be up even further.

I also see Moses being the better of the pairing, don't know why…
Seems more a natual leader, a talker and a gutsier player.

Not a bad thing for Brooks though,
If he can steer the team around and do what he has to do whilst Moses brings the spark.... it could be a lethal duo.

Moses is more an extrovert… Brooks the opposite... I think they just need regular go forward from the pigs

I remember putting a post up comparing these 2 when they were just coming to NYC and basically said they will be compared their whole lives.

Both extremely talented kids, same age, same club, so different in playing styles and personalities.

I think they are both excellent and will both prove to be very good players and I expect to be still debating who is the better player in another ten years!

I can't see why we can't hold onto Brooks, Moses and Teddy. Melbourne kept Slater, Cronk and Smith together for a decade. They aren't at the level of Melbourne's big three. It's not like we have a star-studded team surrounding them.

When you have other clubs with more money to burn than us you lose good players. It's that simple.
All it takes is a club to offer overs and they will leave.

We arent a powerhouse to keep them all.

Different Personalities, Moses is very confident, likes the lime light, can handle himself in front of the media, backs himself 100% and not scared to experiment.

Brooks, seems to be a lot more reserved, not so good with the lime light and the media and seems to be a lot more structured as a player.

Put them together and you have the perfect match

alternatively, a runner and an organiser. a reynolds and sutton. prince and benji. JT and morgan.

i think that much has been painfully obvious from before their debuts though. the question is whether they can do it consistently in 1st grade and now they are 21, turning 22 for the '17 season i think we'll find out either way. personally i think they both do and that moses may in fact end up being the better player

Thurston says it's unfortunate that Brooks/Moses don't have an experienced mentor, but that same situation led the Bulldogs to offloading one of the greatest halves to ever play the game.

The upside of not paying an experienced mentor is the lower salary cap pressure.

Also Taylor you would rate as one of the prominent halves of the 90s, surely he qualifies as their coach?

Also, for all the mentorship JT can possibly provide, hasn't really helped break out the careers of Ray Thompson, Lui, Kostjasyn etc.

Would we have the money to pay for two contracts for each player?
