Justin Hunt...

give the guy a break, he played Ok considering the rabble around him. I'd like to see how he goes after a few weeks, maybe when the rest of the team shows up.

Hunt wasn't that bad but you can see he just doesn't have that next gear necessary for NRL. Rankin has shown in small glimpses he does.

Agree. He had a go and ran hard but is a stop gap solution at best.

So all we want are players that have a 100% dig every week… but also have top-flight skills to carve up in first grade.

Well he tried hard, ran hard and put his body on the line. Decent effort, will probably cop a week for the high shot though. The sort of player that's handy to have as a backup as a cheap squaddie who can do an ok job.

But the thing is do we want to risk losing someone who may be able to make the step up at a higher level in JAC? He's by no means the finished product but i'd rather give a guy a go who's got the potential to be a long term solution for us, than give a stop gap player a run and then lose our long term option in the process.

Of course if JAC is happy to re-sign for another 2 years, and stay in NSW cup to develop then that's great too. He should be, and at a bigger club that would be his only option. The current difference in ability between JAC and Hunt doesn't seem huge, but JAC at least has a massive upside.

Considering we need to make some changes i hope he gets a run next week

I don't rate him, certainly not as a FB. Doesn't make sense to me that Rankin didn't get the job given he's a natural fullback playing out of position.

In other news, he's been charged with a grade two high tackle, but will be able to play next week with an early guilty plea.

Disappointment! He held his own in defence for the most part and returns the ball hard, but had nothing in attack.

I can only recall the one time he linked with the halves when we were attacking their line. Pretty sure he spent a lot of the pre season training with them at fullback.

Really wanted to see him steaming onto the ball at their end. Probably Brooks and Moses fault too though.

I'd be given Rankin a crack at fullback next week also.

To be fair, he had very limited opportunity to do much.
We can't expect a Tedesco-like performance from him.

I thought he did well and proved to be a handy replacement.

I like the bit had nothing in attack well with the dynamic backline the Tigers have that would not be a surprise ..played well I thought did his job gets a tick well done at least there is a compitant replacement for teddy .

Ridiculous that Rankin didn't get the job after his fantastic performance v Souths.

100% mate. It is just making changes for the sake of making changes and shuffling players around. Rankin should of been left at fb and Hunt onto the wing- hope it is named that way this week, or with JAC onto the wing. Hunt played OK though in a badly beaten rabble.
