WSW already have Parra which is getting an upgrade to 50K- that's more than plenty.

GWS have Skoda which they hardly get any crowds atm (maybe due to the location)

ANZ is very close to our other heartlands- Ashfield, Lidcombe and Leichardt.

Spotless Stadium has a capacity of about 15k

30k actually….

I don't know if Liverpool really works for the government. Id it really that far away from Parra/ANZ to warrant a brand new stadium of significant expenditure?

and how are their crowds? if let's say you're a millionare and had to put your own money into the stadium based on the current crowds would you put that money in?

get the crowds to at least 80% of stadium capacity, THEN talk about building a new stadium.

If the SW is what the club is gearing themselves towards, Cambo would be the much easier option with a stadium already in place. Id ather see an upgraded Cambo than a new stadium in Liverpool. And I am from Liverpool.

NRL will follow the AFL model with centralised stadiums. It is a massive waste of State Govt. monies to upgrade Campbelltown. The crowds don't justify it and the money could be better spent on providing homes for low income families in Campbelltown/Liverpool and health/transport and other services.

So now we gotta pack out venues that no one wants to go to because of poor facilities until we get a decent studio.

You can not win…but on the Marty thing, like others I get the feeling their is horse trading going on in the back ground

I certainly hope so. If Marty genuinely does not want to play for us, perhaps we are better to let him go, but that doesn't mean we let him go for FREE.

The best consolation we can get is a first grade player in a needed position with the other club paying most of the wages.

Pascoe speaks a lot of common sense and doesn't move from the script.
Seems to be a steady hand at the wheel.

Has Taupau asked for a release, Pascoe said: “Not to me, no.”

Anyone that understands English can understand that YES he has asked for a release , just not to him .

As if his not aware that Marty has asked for a release of course he has and knows it to .

We have 250,000 fans :roll .

I didn't know Pascoe's also a comedian. :roll

Agree GNR. I personally like Cambo Stadium. Parking's easy to find, easy to get to and has a great atmosphere. Definitely like to see it upgraded.
Doubt it's going to happen though.

No matter what they do to the stadium, Campbelltown will never get big crowds.
For whatever their reasons the locals can't fill it - and even if they could build a super train from the city to get there in 10 minutes the perception would still be that it's too far to go for everyone else.
Plus, no matter what anyone thinks there is still a stigma about the place itself (deserved or not).

All joking aside, we do have a massive dormant fan base. We all remember the bandwagon back in 05 and 10/11 - big crowds, merchandise selling through the roof etc. Indeed, even today, Rothfield and co continue to print these provocative stories as they sell papers and get page hits - not every club has that sort of interest.
Getting the lapsed fan back into a financial interest (be it attendance, merch, membership) is exactly what we need to bridge the balance sheet issues we face.

That's true
The diehard fan will always be there

-but how can you expect a parent to pay for a family to go to the footy when they know their team is gonna lose
-are you gonna go out and buy the home jersey/the away jersey /heritage jersey/etc like you would when your team is going great…you don't want all that merchant from a year you didn't even make the 8
-is you're 10 year old kid going to be hassling you to go see a game or get a New Jersey when their team isn't winning or if they aren't sure their favourite tigers player will still be there(Farah, taupau,Lawrence)
How many kids jumped on the Tigers cause benji was their footy hero

I wouldn't call our fans doormats at all...id just say like every other club when your team isn't going great and isn't showing signs of improvement it's harder to get excited and cripples you're desire to go above and beyond in support

Doesn't mean their not riding the lows

The Wests Tigers need to give the fans something to cheer for, anything really.

Hasn't asked me for a release = hurry up and agree to our terms. Technically, he wont be granted/asking for a release if he doesn't have a deal.

FTR, the CEO is the mouthpiece of the Board. It's who he answers to… I don't understand why people would expect anything different at this stage. I remember Paul Whites first day at the Broncos. He meets with the Board, and on day 2 he terminates Ivan Henjack (for not playing Locky). I see this scenario similar, but he is under instructions to see the back of Farah.

I'm interested in the vision for the number of fans we have. Obviously we will need to wait 12 months for this plan to come into play as the 2016 Packages are already released. But I look forward to seeing how he will go about building on this.

People talk about how bad Ctown crowds are, but if you did some research you'd see that the overall average attendance figures since 2000 between Ctown and LO is less than 1000 between them. As CK said, there's a stigma attached to Ctown. God knows why.

Dont think our fan base is any different to any other Sydney based team. If you look at other forums the diehards are all talking about the same things with their clubs. Player retention, player signings, and the coach. For teams that are under performing like ours the fans are arguing exactly the same issues - who to keep, who to let go who they should buy, and the performance of the coach and CEOS. When Wests Tigers are going well we enjoy great numbers at games its just that we have not been going well for a while and any news associated with the club of late has been mostly bad. All fans are fickle when you are losing, and in terms of attendance the Sydney based teams are certainly more effected by their position on the ladder.

i find it so wierd that in sydney we probably have a 20K AT BEST average crowds and we wanna build and upgrade more stadiums (stadia?). let's just try n get more crowds in before putting more money in. the govt must be so stupid to fund this imo

We won't be building any stadiums, the state & federal governments will be funding this. I don't know about you but wouldn't it be nice to have streamlined membership packages which all cost the same because all games are at the one venue?

Liverpool is relatively midway to both Campbelltown and Leichhardt (25 mins to C-town and 35 to Leichhardt.) You can access Liverpool from both core locations via M5, and all other fans who reside in Sydney can access via rail or arterial roads.

Just think, one stadium means no arguments about crowds about LO and CSS, no whinging about ANZ being a soulless pit, good access from all corners of Sydney and an actual home for Wests Tigers to call their own in an area on the grow which will help capture more future fans. There would be no more of this "responsibility" hung on the Campbelltown and Leichhardt areas to represent the club at their respective home games.

It's virtually all upside to me.

so the govt should be spending millions and millions of dollars so that a couple of hundered WT fans can stop fighting?

i live in liverpool, a stadium here would be amazing. there are heaps of pros no doubt about it.

even taking into account the wanderers and possibly the giants, it's just very stupid to build a new stadium when the money can be spent elsewhere. sports is a big thing for us as aussies but sometimes it needs to take a backseat. ANZ, Allianz, Campbelltown, Parra and Penrith are MORE than adequate for the crowds that all 3 codes gather. we're all hanging on the idea of "build it and they'll come"

Don't be facetious TP. I'm not saying they **_have_** to do it, I would rather see the money spent elsewhere myself (in fact you'll find I've said this numerous times in other threads,) but if they're going to commit to it I will get behind it.

The thing is that the NRL look like that they want to follow the AFL model and play games at centralised stadia. With ANZ, Allianz and a 35-40K Liverpool based stadium you have most of Sydney covered.
