Kidwell To Be Coach Effective Immediately

If, and that's a big If, Potter sees out the season then effectively he hasn't been sacked. His contract expires this year and if the club chooses not to renew it then they are within their right to do so.

Something was on the cards Blocker on the radio said today he was sworn to secrecy and something huge was about to come out though the week , but I say it was leaked before the game tommorow to derail the Tigers top. 8 chances . This is going to have ramifications for anyone that has been associated with what has been going on , from the top down.

Next board meeting:

Mayer to Board: I have met your two fold objectives. I have instilled a new Head Coach and saved us $250k pa in the process.

Board to Mayer: you have done well son… Here is your brown paper bag ... Enjoy your "lunch"

Regardless if its true or not, its a terrible story to have published the day before a game we must win.

I can't see it being true, just sounds like a journo hedging his bets. If he gets it wrong and Potter isn't sacked, he can just claim the timeline changed.

Well,

If this ISN'T true then what they have done is expose the mole.

A large manufacturing corporation once had information being leaked out regarding upcoming products, and they narrowed it down to a seven member executive team

So, the CEO and his brother who also ran the company with him had a novel idea. Each executive was groomed to a higher up position, each without the others knowing. They also made each member pertinent to some largish amounts of "sensitive" information in grooming for the role.

Once the sensitive information was inevitable leaked to their competition, they were able to flush out the mole and sack them.

This smells of exactly the same thing.

I can only assume that there's serious issues with Potter, whether tactically or in communicating with the players-or maybe he's stuffed up somewhere else? The only other possibility is they have a big name coach lined up- not likely.

Everyone is hopeful that this is a once in a generation group of players (ala Storm) and maybe the Board fears that going with Potter puts this at risk?

It would be unwise to start bagging the players and Board without knowing the full story. If Potter is moved on, the reasons will gradually come out

A valid point, to be sure, but the situation is unforgivable, whichever way you look at it.

Some ridiculous over-reactions In this thread. Firstly it's a news ltd article and they enjoy nothing more than always putting out the worse case scenario about our club. Still even if it is exactly true is Mick a coach that will lead us to a premiership in the next 2-5 years? It is pretty obvious we have the talent to be competing for that in the next few years and we need to make sure we keep those players and have the right coach to get us there. I like all the other fans have no idea how Mick communicates with the players but at the end of the day coaching is a job in communication and if that is not being done well then it is a worry.

Conducting a review just to fire him… why bother club could have just told him he wasn't needed. Based on the way the club has been run in the last few years some sort of top to bottom review was necessary.

Mick might be getting a bit of a rough deal but I doubt the club is going to ditch a coach that they genuinely thought was a chance to taking us to a premiership. We need to make sure we have a coach who can develop and ensure we hang onto these players we have. We have a massive opportunity of being the next consistent top 4 team and we need to have a coach that the players want to play for.

If true I seriously hope they know what they're doing. What an embarrassment this has become.
By the way who is on the board? I thought the new members as appointed by the NRL hadn't started do how the heck can they make a decision on the coach right now?
And the other interesting thing is - as mentioned in a previous post - Mayer has been extremely quiet on twitter. Make of that what you wish

What a waste of 3 paragraphs.

Why would they bother sacking the coach? It serves no purpose. All the board has to do is wait until the end of the season and Potter's contract expires.

Again, a valid point, but the media are only playing up conjecture that's been allowed to fester.
And in a week we've gone from competition killers to competition basket case.
That doesn't instil much confidence that this is a well considered and executed strategy to say the least.

If we miss the 8, if we make the finals Potter triggers an extension 2015.

So if sacking Potter tomorrow/Monday is true, it likely means our board is intentionally trying to unravel our season in order to disrupt our run to the finals.

Seems a little far fetched when you look at it like that.

I thought his contract had a clause that he'd be extended automatically if the team made the 8?

Can anyone confirm those reports?

How do we know Brian Smith has what it takes to conduct a so called review. How about a second opinion. Geez what are these guys on. It's like going to the doctors with a pain in your leg. He tells you immediate amputation is required. Do you take his word for it or find another doctor for a second opinion.

A quick question to all those people that were impressed with Mayers approach to being open with supporters about happenings in the club, what do you think of him now? I personally never agreed with any of his tactics, it's not a way to run a club.

After 15 years of following this screwball of a club , what's been happening to Potter , when at the cusp of a golden era for our club is really tipping me over the edge again.
I want to say , I had enough , but I rather stay here with all the Madman , than perish with the Sad men roaming free

http://youtu.be/_uT3NZTYpPA

Day after day
They send my friends away
To mansions cold and grey
To the far side of town
Where the thin men stalk the streets
While the sane stay underground

Day after day
They tell me I can go
They tell me I can blow
To the far side of town
Where it's pointless to be high
'Cause it's such a long way down

So I tell them that
I can fly, I will scream, I will break my arm
I will do me harm
Here I stand, foot in hand, talking to my wall
I'm not quite right at all…am I?

Don't set me free, I'm as heavy as can be
Just my librium and me
And my E.S.T. makes three

'Cause I'd rather stay here
With all the madmen
Than perish with the sad men roaming free
And I'd rather play here
With all the madmen
For I'm quite content they're all as sane
As me

(Where can the horizon lie
When a nation hides
Its organic minds
In a cellar...dark and grim
They must be very dim)

Day after day
They take some brain away
Then turn my face around
To the far side of town
And tell me that it's real
Then ask me how I feel

Here I stand, foot in hand, talking to my wall
I'm not quite right at all

Don't set me free, I'm as helpless as can be
My libido's split on me
Gimme some good 'ole lobotomy

'Cause I'd rather stay here
With all the madmen
Than perish with the sad men
Roaming free
And I'd rather play here
With all the madmen
For I'm quite content
They're all as sane as me
