Kyle Lovett gone?

Back to Lovett, what happens if his court statement is I was there with (insert 4 of our biggest names) and we had all been on it, but I got left holding the baby (so as to speak).
Do all of them get sacked? With his manager it would not surprise me if part of the court case involves covering his butt and slinging mud.

If these hypothetical players aren't charged then I don't see why they should have a case to answer.

Plus it would be a dog act for Lovett to take others down with him, regardless of who they are.

Agree it would be a dog act, but with his advisors, his career and income on the line, why would he be a fall guy?

Goes against Sam's mantra I would have thought. Sam loves a good fall guy.

How would doing that assist his career or income? He would be guilty on that hypothetical scenario and he would definitely get punted because no-one would want him in the playing group.

There would be media comments that he was made a fall guy if sacked. Does not necessarily need to dog his teammates, a police statement read in court that suggests he was there with others would be enough to start speculation.

Yep agree, that would seal his fate at the WT. As it stands he won't get the sack maybe just a suspension And worse case never see FG again, even if he gets the sack a team like Newcastle or stgeorge might pick him up. But desperate people do desperate things especially if they are getting bad advice. Hypothetically speaking that is!

Need to get some advice off Cronulla. Could sack him and then bring him back on a lower wage to get under the cap. A massive fine simply takes money off the player but leaves his entire salary counting towards the cap.
They could even give him a contract beyond this year with an increase (back to current levels) for 2018

Just wait till next year. We'll finally have some room to enter the market. Particularly if we don't sign all 4…

I don't think we'll be disadvantaged money wise with Harry on tpas, we're not poor. Only hamstrung by previous admins back loading.

You can have the space under the cap and all the money and tpa's that you want, if you don't have the ability to attract players or give them a team they can win with then you are not going to sign anyone of any value.

I wouldn't turn on Blocker too much, he has his opinion and many of us disagree, but really he's not that different to half the punters on this forum who say things that other people consider dumb. That he still has a media presence is testament to his reputation as a player and long time in the industry. If he says dumb things, what does it matter? Sometimes even in dumbness he gives supporters something to chew on, particularly in the off-season.

For mine, I don't see why Grant and Ava cannot be the front-row support Woods need, with the emergence of Felise and Tatola over the next few seasons. Most clubs can't / won't carry two marquee props (I personally think it's a waste of money), and for the Grant/Ava price range I don't think you are going to do much better from another club. So Blocker is wrong there, that sort of investment needs to go into the backrow if we plan on spending more money on the forwards.

I think Blocker has a good point. There's been some recent success from clubs with multiple quality props/big locks:
- Cowboys got a premiership with Scott and Tamou leading the charge (plus Taumalolo).
- Roosters won three consecutive minor premierships with JWH and Moa (when they were both charging hard).
- Canberra made a big run into the finals last year off the back of Boyd and Junior Paulo.
- Bulldogs with Graham, Klemmer and Kasiano have made the finals for the last couple of years, including grand finals.
- Souths won in 2014 off the back of the Burgii.

I'm happy with ET at lock because I think he combines well with our halves, but it means we lack impact there. We don't have an extra battering ram like Taumalolo, Sam Burgess, Klemmer (who the Dogs shifted to lock late last year), Merrin or Gallen. Woods does his job but we need more impact out of our other three props. One of the three needs to really stand up and lay claim to the title of second best prop at the Tigers. At the moment they're all a bit same-same. You'd be happy to have them in your team as a third or fourth prop but they don't really stand out on a consistent basis. They've all got it in them so hopefully come the end of the season it will still be up for debate who is second best, but only because they've all had massive seasons.

I think we have other more pressing needs. Woods, Grant, Sue, Ava, Felise are solid and maybe Paseka steps up. We have Kev, Idris, Rankin out wide any talk of props with this backline is hilarious.

What is that famous saying "Once you feel you finally have enough props , go buy another one "

As I said I feel the more quality backrowers you have the better you will be off in the modern game with the reductions in the interchange coming

Look at the top clubs , they all have a plethora of quality backrowers in their sides and on the bench

Exactly, But Woods HAS been carrying our pack for years….
Seen games where he's made over 200m and we still got rolled up the guts.

This ain't gonna be popular , but I think Woods can be part of the problem sometimes , bit like Gallen he touches the ball far too often when we might need the ball going elsewhere

As I've said before he can take his time getting back after a defensive set …

Aw yeah? We should get ourselves a couple.

A couple of million dollars to buy a couple of quality backrowers these days unfortunately for clubs like WT.

We're like the fat kid with his facd pressed up against the window of the cheesecake factory whose parents are on welfare and can't afford such luxuries.

Yeah true , but if you could load one side you'd at least know what side the attack was going to

Now they can attack us almost anywhere

In last weekend's SMH I think it was Eddie Jones who commented that you judge a forward by how long they take to get back into position - well I have seen Aaron take two tackles to get back into position.

Try 4 sometimes , and no he wasn't putting pressure on the kicker

I have mentioned this before,I will mention it again….our team for the last 3 years has been decimated by injuries, overhyped and over paid players trying to make a living from the NRL as well as absolutely abborent previous management decisions ....the ship is being steadied and the financials are being sorted....the squad we have for 2017 is the best we will have for the money which we can outlay..until the cap situation and the amount it will be next year is finalised then we have what we have....speculating who is going and who we want to keep is entirely out of our hands, these are the senior management decisions to work out..JT has to be credited with working with what he has and trying to better the team and club the best he can for the time being...people must stop assuming and speculating until we have solid input from our management on the path we are going..and that goes for the mole, lurker and anyone else who wants to speculate what's going on without some substantial reasoning and evidence to the facts..this brings me to my point,JT has had to mould and build a team that on face value would not be a premiership threat for at least 6/10 years...we almost made the finals after 2 years under Taylor..so for all the weaknesses that individual players seem to have,JT is trying to get them to play to their potential and talent as well as teach them the hard facts about how the NRL works...
From the very experienced to the very inexperienced he must make this team an NRL threat this year...can he do it ? I don't know..Is he doing everything he can to make this team a competitive unit...yes in my opinion he is,you can't make things happen at the snap of the fingers or overnight, all these things take time....If I have to watch the team get flogged or win by 50,I will applaud the efforts of the board, coach and players for at least turning up each week to make this a better club..if the big three or four decide to move on sobeit, there will be others who would take the opportunity to play in the black white and orange of the club and be proud to do it...if the almighty dollar dictates your life then really there isn't much to be enjoyed,as the wise man said to me many times the cemetery is full of rich wealthy unhappy people..

Enjoy life to the fullest and do your best..after all football is only a game where you can take it or leave it,change codes ,get big bucks make plenty of friends, but in the end you only get to live once, make the most of it....

TT has had a couple of drinks and got into a verbal with some league experts that really wouldn't know a football from a tennis ball, but when they start bagging out the Tiges it makes TT burr up ...

Apologise if I have had a rant....sometimes its easier if TT let's off some steam, after all we are a forum family....cheers...

True Tiger ignores that the team were thrown under a bus by dropping Farah when he was scoring tries and playing actively off the bench. He also ignores that we are paying for him this year for virtually no value in return. We should have been in the finals last year just for that stupid field goal that RF could have landed with one eye shut. Sorry I can't buy the club line.

Check the records - has any player being dropped whilst still being paid top salary after scoring good tries in two last games? And the team mates were swamping over him.

He did not retire at the top like some players in other sports have done so.

Mate, no offense, but you've trotted out that "Farah would have kicked the field goal and we'd be in the semis" quite a few times, and I think every time someone has pointed out it's hogwash. Time to get over it.
