Kyle Lovett gone?

It wasn't the daily telegraph that reported it. It was Channel 7\. Lovett been this forum whipping boy taking over the likes of moltzen, and now his leaving there's whinging about that.

Wrong, people are complaining about the way it has been handled not the outcome. It is a "poor look" for the club if it is true. The club seems to go out of their way to shoot themselves in the foot.
Their has been no denial from the club which i am sure they would have done if it was rumour without substance.

What makes you so sure this hasn't been known behind the scenes for a while?

I guess the club will release something tomorrow, probably along the lines of" we thank Kyle for his efforts over the past few years and wish him all the best in the future"…That tells us nothing of what really has happened.

**After signing Jamal Idris** late last year, a Tigers official contacted at least two rival clubs attempting to offload utility Kyle Lovett before the NRL season starts.

Once again I say…Lovett has a binding contract for 2017 with the Tigers, the club could shop him around to every club in the world but he is under no obligation to go anywhere. If they pay him out the money comes out of the cap. The only way the club can get cap relief is if Lovett agrees to a new deal at another club and if he agrees to go to another club you could hardly call the situations as "been forced out"

Okay the club might have told him he will not be getting a renewal in 2018 and will not play top grade, but the bottom line he will get paid for 2017 what ever happens.

Iam not defending the club, I like Lovett and I think he has a bit to offer and I certainly would like him to stay but I am afraid there are 15 other clubs doing the same thing to their players, just go on a few other club forums and you read the same stuff

Just wondering, if he goes to England will we carry any weight?

Both Nagamia and Rankin were shopped around early in the off season but nothing eventuated. Funny the media did not jump on that and stir the pot and point the bone at Taylor

Where he goes makes no difference, it all depends upon the terms of the release agreed to between the player and the club.

Usually its the person with the agenda that leaks to the media. In this case Lovett is being shafted so one would assume its not the club leaking the information. Players get tapped on the shoulder all the time. He has every right to stay and play out his contract and refuse any transfer. Its probably why we continue to pay players to play elsewhere.

The club can't handle it any differently he is under contract and if the report is true he is not wanted.

It could have been known by a "select" few but i bet Lovett wasnt one of them.We always seem to take the ham fisted approach to this sort of thing. That may be acceptable to you but i want my club to appear to be doing the right thing, telling someone UNDER CONTRACT they are not wanted 3 weeks before trials start imo is not good.Dont get me wrong i am not a Lovett fan but matters should be handled better than this if it is true.

Not that he was any superstar, but didn't the club do the same to Delouise Hoeter about this time last year? He ended up at the Townsville blackhawks, I wonder how much we paid him under our cap last year, and whether we are still paying him this year?

http://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2015/08/20/wests_tigers_re_sign.html

If the club wasnt so stupid to have re signed him at the end of 2015 this wouldn't be issue. We had bigger cap issues back then and they thought it would be a great move to extend the contract of a player when there was ZERO pressure from any other club to ever want him. He was average then and still average now. That signing was all under Taylors watch.

Delouise Hoeter was getting paid?, there's a mistake right there he was hopeless.
Didn't his missus throw a wobbly on social media abusing WT for something or other?

If the reports are to be believed about the way this has been handled IMO yes, they could of handled it differently and with a bit more respect for Lovett. Did they just decide in the last week that he wasn't wanted? They have really left the bloke in the lurch. It's like telling your wife the day before she is due to give birth to your kid that you are booting her out of the house. Timing is everything.

Agree. He is only contracted until the end of 2017 so if his contract is paid by WT its not really an issue.
I would assume the the writing would have been on the wall internally after Sirro was punted for Plodding Lovett is far worse of a plodder.

Least Lovett has a go. Something Siro is allergic to.

Lovett was re-signed on a decent wage - we got involved in a bidding war for some reason.
The tele article suggests he's on $400k (pay him out $200k and get $200k off the cap….). Whilst I'm pretty sure that's excessive, it wouldn't be too far off.
As some have mentioned, we are definitely still suffering from poor deals issued by previous management, but there are a load of players that have been signed or re-signed under the current regime, and we're still mired in salary cap hell. Those in power can't keep passing the buck.

The Ch 7 report is ridiculously over-dramatised, as per usual. Loads and loads of players will be getting the tap on the shoulder at this time of year, Lovett is defo not the first to go through this, nor will he be the last.

Agree on two points. Not everything is past management's fault. The girls and boys on big bikkies need to be held accountable.
Players being moved on is just part of a professional footballers life. I dont feel sorry for him, the same way I dont feel jealous of his large wage.

Whoever signed him for 400k (if that is correct) - should be moved on as well. Not worth more than 250 tops.

I doubt if it would be 400k that seems very excessive but if its true we must have the dumbest bean counters at any club

400k. I honestly believe he won't get a contract in the NRL. He is just not talented enough physically for a modern day forward. He should sign for gheRhodes Knights in the Greek League.
