**After signing Jamal Idris** late last year, a Tigers official contacted at least two rival clubs attempting to offload utility Kyle Lovett before the NRL season starts.

So you only released this info AFTER it came out in the press

Good work Paws

This was in the Tele article this morning Happy. I know because it is not favourable to WTs it can be put aside as another Tele attempt to paint WTs in a bad light or, Plan B, it can be blamed on Sam Ayoub! Oh someone has already attempted to do this earlier.

Sounds eerily like another scenario where the club has tried to organise for a player to go elsewhere. Kept it behind closed doors so the player could negotiate in secret and then when things didn't go their way they went to the media. They have the same player manager too, hmmm…

It's no secret that Ayoub is a grub, his involvement in match fixing is testament to that.

FYI: I'm actually disappointed that the club is moving Lovett on, I thought he was a big improver last year and might just be a late blossom. If he is on the sort of money that is touted though, whomever offered that coin should be shot.

Someone might have a better memory than I , but didn't we release Liam Ayoub ??

Could this be the source of Sammi's anger

Sorry dont agree in this case. Our understanding is he is a contracted player for this season. You can't be pedalling memberships one minute which
are essential in creating a successful club, and then refusing to address a rumour about one of our top 25 -or so we thought. What happens if the player in question is my favourite player? Or does it only matter if it's someone like Teddy? Your squad is what essentially encourages memberships.
It's unfortunate that the club has not been in a position to control this the way that they would like, and if there is no truth to it, surely they would have squashed it immediately.
I feel this needs to be addressed - you can't be crying out for fan support one minute and then arrogantly treating them like they don't need to know the next.
When the club has a fan base the likes of the EPL well maybe then.

If they respond to it then it gives the story oxygen. If they confirm that they have salary cap troubles it puts them in a worse negotiating position with rival clubs and with player managers - they know that we **need** to get players off our books rather than just want to and that makes it harder for us to negotiate favourable terms of release. It's all commercially sensitive information and I don't know why you think you should be entitled to it as a supporter of the club. Most rival clubs and player managers at the moment would probably just regard it as a hatchet job and have no idea whether it is true or not. I don't see a problem with keeping it that way - they are maintaining control rather than responding to a calculated attack and will no doubt make an official announcement when there is something to officially announce. It's not arrogant.

The conclusions that people are jumping to and crucifying WT, the coach, Ms GO, Lovett himself and for that matter Sam Ayoub is over the top.

No one knows anything yet and anything other than an announcement from WT or Lovett is complete and utter speculation.

#jumpingatshadows

Cool your jets people. Stop looking for an excuse to bash people when there are no facts announced.

Well we do know at this stage that a damaging story made its way to a media outlet and you can rule out most of the parties you mentioned as being the source of it…

Agreed, I think all reasonable people will know the source. His intentions are clearly to damage the club and revenge.

Doesnt mean we have to get our knickers in a knot and give him what he wants - which is everyone to run around in a blind panic attempting to destabilise.

Ignore the story, and dont give it any mileage, and he'll drop off.

I'm sure the people that matter aren't running around in blind panic about this

If it is fact they will have a plan , and we will hear about it soon enough

I suppose what many are confused about is why it has happened

If what Underdog suggested is true , he must of been a very naughty boy

I'm sure this is all someone making a big deal out of nothing. Probably was just told he wouldn't be starting much so would be free to explore his options. Very different to forcing him out.
I would have thought he'd be on peanuts, if not then that's a disgrace. Certainly is the first player to be chopped if we did need to offload someone, but you'd also think if we needed to offload someone to balance the books this would have been known for some time.
The club has no need to reply to each load of crap the lurker comes up with. Slanderous comments printed by a journalist may be different, but this is all rumour mill stuff.

For whatever reason journos like to target us as a salary cap in crisis club, probably due to Farah. Nearly all clubs are paying players at other clubs, or are receiving players for a fraction off their value with another club paying the bulk. Can't treat them in isolation, you've got add how much we're paying players at other clubs and subtracts how much other clubs are paying players at our club (like Grant). The 750 mark for Robbie is also understood to be quite off the mark, but it's the number lazy journos stick with because it makes us look bad.
Lovett goes to the UK and it'd be the best thing for his career. MCK should be a mile ahead of him in the pecking order, and now he's in the top 25 Lovett would be nothing more than a backup backup player. Tried hard but highly expendable.

200k over the cap? Obviously something did not go to plan with Robbie's transfer.

Or with the ET signing.
It took forever for him to put pen to paper which tells me he wanted more than we were initially prepared to pay.

Or that Taylor's management was fliff fluffing around so eventually negotiated himself…

Hypocrisy from 'femtosecond attention span' fans:
- before 'Lovett has gone' news, every man and his tiger ( ) wanted Lovett out of the team, buried and cremated, but wait,
- as soon this news came out, the femtosecond crowd is out, crying 'we must keep Lovett, he is our heart and soul, second to none' :crazy
Go figure

Just read an article and JT is quoted as saying the Lovett will be there this season.

Below is the quote:

Kyle Lovett was also absent, with reports suggesting the backrower had been shopped around.

“At this stage Kyle will be here this season,’’ Taylor said.

The Tigers will not stand in the way of Lovett if he finds a new club, and he was informed over summer he could explore his options.

The Tigers must still shed at least one player to be cap compliant by round one, but the amount of money is believed to be much less than the $200,000 they could save by shifting Lovett.

Possible hypothetical to explain this.

Firstly: We've all discussed / been informed about the top 25 and how it's structured based on the top 25 salaries.
And anyone outside that would be considered 2ND tier.

Secondly: We know taylor has no problems with promoting a young rookie into the side.
2015 was actually Kyle Lovett.
2016 aloioi.

Thirdly: Has anyone noticed that in the media proposed 2017 team lists (top 17)
Kyle Lovett has been replaced with Jamal Idris. (You know it makes sence)

Forthly: JT or any coach for that matter can play aNY 17 each week.

So what if Kyle is not in the 2017 1ST choice side.
This means he would be playing reserve grade for the year.
This means someone like Masters or Paseka will get a call up to be playing in his place or McWillrik.
This move costs the club in 2 ways;
The promoted rookie is playing under the 2nd tier salary cap.
Kyle is playing reserves using part of the 1st tier salary cap.

Now I don't think it is 400k as reported, more likely 250k, but moving Kyle on before the season alevites this situation.
Also leave the possibility that the 250k can be spent on a seasoned player…

Watch this space I guess.

I call rubbish still on the Salary Cap if it was the case the NRL would be all over it just as they were when the Dogs self reported..

But again it would only become an issue once we named our Top 25 and then our 2nd tier …....

It is not an issue , because it is not an issue yet

This is what annoys me so much about the media targeting the Tigers. Players get forced out of their clubs all the time, but it will be little more than a grumble. When it happens at the Tigers it is hyped up to be the end of the world. e.g. Matt Ballin being forced out of Manly was probably worse than the way Farah was treated, but when you compare the size of the media storms you would think Ballin left on good terms.

Every year we see the same thing, the Media witch hunt for something at the Tigers. 2013 it was Benji, 2014 is was Potter, 2015 they couldn't make up their minds between Taylor and Farah, 2016 they stuck with Farah. So who will it be this year?
Depending on results, 2017 will likely be Taylor or Moses. If we are losing then "Taylor is losing the dressing room" or some other bullshit. If we are winning then I guarantee some bs article will come out that Moses was responsible for Farah sacking, or him and Brooks are having a lovers quarrel and now they don't want to re-sign.

Unless the media have quotes and hard facts I wouldn't believe anything they say
