Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

We didnt invest him in any way whatsoever. We let him have free reign and he drowned.

If he drowned, why is the team leading the comp trying to sign him mid season? It comes with a chance of possibly derailing their season. So he must have been swimming mate...

Put your ego to the side and think about it. Had we brought him through as we did TDS, with an eye towards partnering and being the right hand man of Luai this year, would the opinions of his camp have changed? I say yes and thats based upon the claim that the reason he is leaving is because he isnt being developed properly to be the best he can be.
Why does he have to hold Luais hand?

Why wasn't it ok for Benji to give him free reign and not coach the creativeness coached out of him?

As long as he was doing most of it right, he's learning on the job, with the feedback and coaching from Benji and Luai..

The issue has come about because Latu had the initiative to approach Luai and ask to work with him. Galvin chose not to be as proactive and got upset that Luai formed a relationship with Latu.

Sometimes you need to put some effort in yourself when it comes to development.

He made it clear he was moving on. Thats not the crime of the century no matter how much you cry about it.
If he just said he was moving on or wanted to test the market November 1, do you think thered he this much blowback? It didn't play out as straight forward as you claim it has

Both Benji and Richo have stated at different times that he never said Benji cant coach, that he never talked trash about the coach or team. You have believed what you read on a forum somewhere and taken it as gospel. An experienced professional like Luai should not have led the charge against a kid. It opens the possibility of accusations of ....you guessed it...BULLYING. Shock horror.
So tell me, what was said then?

Because you don't get a reaction like you did from the playing group, for wanting to go to another club...

Galvin said something that went down really bad. If it wasnt Benji, it had to be about the team or the players.

WHy would he have to "earn back players trust and respect" or whatever it was that Luai said...

Of course he is full of hot air. He talks a big game then plays like a disinterested passenger. He has done it most of his career IMO.

Lol.
This says it all.

No I dont think you understand real leadership. When he was slamming Galvin, he should have done it as a show of committment to his team. He didnt, and thats weak.
Where did Luai publicly slam Galvin?

Maybe. I think theyre heading for a cliff personally. Lets see how it plays out before we judge.
Well I guess this is round 2... Let's see who's right...

Top 8 is a win
Top 14 is acceptable
Any lower and thered want to be some mitigating circumstances

I’m fully convinced Tucker does these things for engagement & attention & the need to feel different. Don’t forget he’s been bashing Galvin from pillar to post since the kid debuted & is now defending how he’s handled the situation & blaming it on the club,

I remember he did a similar thing with the whole John Bateman situation. Bashed him from pillar to post when he was in a Tigers jersey but when it came time for Bateman to leave he brought out nit picking stats & kept bringing up how he’s a starting forward for England then used it to bash Benji & the club. Strange guy Lol
Once again, you are way off base.
I never bashed him from pillar to post. I always maintaned that he was a very good footballer who wasnt a good enough 5/8 to be running the first grade attack. History has proven that correct. As for defending him now, I manage to and comment on different aspects of the same situation. He isnt a good 5/8, but is a good footballer that I wanted to stay here. However I can understand why he is going as the club has been a woeful sack of shit for a long time now and our first grade coach still has training wheels on.
The average fan on here acted like this over the past year..."I love him, he is the gretaest. He didnt sign our contract extension? I hate him and his whole family"! Theres a big difference between what Im saying and what the mob is.
With the Bateman thing, I never bashed him individually at all. I got sick of the forward pack as a unit. Its a lie that I wanted him gone and I was one of the very few, who argued his case when once again the mob came knocking spreading lies and misinformation that was later noted as rubbish by Benji himself.
You have an axe to grind and will take every opportunity to grind it. You are a weak coward champion.

Chammas reporting Eels and Dogs will offer only $750k per season.

Something is seriously fishy with all this?

His dad is really going to sacrifice all that? To possible go mid season and not be able to play first grade?

Outrageous.
The only way the dogs works is if he goes there too play reserve grade with woods.

Then if he's needed he gets called upon into first grade, but would need to know their systems.

Gould has sold him on the future.

Little does lachy know, Gould can lie to him the same way he can lie to the media - sold the dream of life as a #6 - let's see how that plays out eh... And how he and dad react when the move out of the halves takes place... It'll be tigers drama take #2.

This whole “we should have seen this coming” narrative is such straw man nonsense .
Who’s to say we didn’t?
Let’s play hypotheticals ;
1. We know Moses and Galvin are fudging us around . So we tell them , here’s nrl minimum / nrl average contract . He says no way . Which is as expected .
How do people expect that hypothetical to play out ? Do we think Moses is going to take that lying down , or…… do we think it will be an offensive through Reed and Riccio and whatever hack has aligned with this grub , of defamation at the club …. Culminating in ……. A June 30 release ?
Does that sound almost 💯 the most logical way that hypothetical would play out?
public opinion would be “this club is run by muppets”, Tucker would be blowing his load all over his keyboard about how much this club are morons and he’s the answer ,… and in the end … the same outcome . Only worse because we lost complete face and reputation .
So here’s hypothetical number 2 ;
1. What if we knew all about the back room deals with the eels and bulldogs, and even knew that Galvin and Moses had a list of, or were cooking something up .
2. What if Richo went into this meeting offering a ridiculous salary to fish out , and gauge Moses’ reaction .
3. What if the real desired outcome had been reached as , throughout the last few months the club had determined that Latu was the future 6 , and were sprinkling sugar on the Galvin contract to ultimately move him , when Latu matured.
4. What if this scenario was win win , we save face saying “look we tried to sign him “ , we back them into a corner , releasing the previously allocated 1mil , to assign to other players , then negotiate with our number 1 target , an English back rower , sign our gun props gun younger brother , and now offer a saloon passage to the gun 6 we signed from manly who was supposed to be Galvin before he did his hammy and lost a year of development .
5. The inevitable dummy spit happens , with some real rolling in the mud type stuff , by saying the club was bullying him , we try to get by with Galvin until Latu gets better , it doesn’t work , so we do what we always planned to do … release the kid .
How implausible is that scenario ? Or either ? I’m curious ? Because hypothetical number 1 … seems like a dumb strategy to me … and hypothetical number 2 requires someone of real scheming , who’s probably really old by administration standards and been around many a shady deal …

Lachie may have been happy to see out his contract but doubt that he was ever going to re- sign.
But that didn't suit Moses - and every thing since is evidence that he had no intention of supporting his client to honour his career contract at WTs and had done everything in his power to derail our season while ensuring that the situation became untenable
There's nothing like vindictiveness !

This has & will hurt us...

Hopefully Api & Jerome, as well as the rest of the squad can continually show this isn't the case and we are a club on the rise.

Be nice if they have some friends they can bring along to strengthen us also.
Wld be nice if we found some new players of NRL standard ,,friends or otherwise
Having done well in off season, Its a one way flow out the door atm
We need some hope going forward with new signings ..were not gonna get that from midget juniors who cant make it in KOE

Do you think he is swimming? Think carefully before you answer no.
Why does he have to hold Luais hand?
I said right hand man. Do you not understand what that means? Its not literal LMFAO....
Why wasn't it ok for Benji to give him free reign and not coach the creativeness coached out of him?
Because he was 18, never played senior footy and wasnt a part of a great side with excellent leadership. What a dumb question.
As long as he was doing most of it right, he's learning on the job, with the feedback and coaching from Benji and Luai..
Oh great. You dont strive for excellence I see. Benji hasnt helped him in a couple of seasons so far, when was he going to spring into action? Luai obviously has a set against him so that wasnt goin to work either the way we did things. We stuffed it up, plain and simple and this is the repercussions.
The issue has come about because Latu had the initiative to approach Luai and ask to work with him. Galvin chose not to be as proactive and got upset that Luai formed a relationship with Latu.
Sometimes you need to put some effort in yourself when it comes to development
How do you know that? Have you spoken with all of them? He wanted out before either came to the club.
If he just said he was moving on or wanted to test the market November 1, do you think thered he this much blowback? It didn't play out as straight forward as you claim it has
He did the right thing. It gave the club ample opportunity to replace him.
Because Luai mistakenly believed as many idiots do, that he attacked the club and players. It hasnt seemed to have happened.
Top 8 is a win
Top 14 is acceptable
Any lower and thered want to be some mitigating circumstances
No. Top 14 is not acceptable. 9 teams miss the finals. If we are bottom half of that 9, we have failed again. 12th and above is acceptable, and in the 8 is job well done.

The NRL will rubberstamp it as being perfectly legal and legitimate despite it's very dubious appearance. Many people will not believe it but nothing will be done except a few people will be smiling afterwards
The NRL has fresh wet iceberg lettuce leaves, of a mutant strain, that it will slap those proven to have contravened anti-tampering legislation. They've been flown directly from Brisbane.

They got this modus operende from the nba . A sport that can be boring as hell to watch at times . But it has 💯 eyeballs all year round because of the drama , much like the nrl , the league creates .
They love this shit .theyre all over the front pages , the back pages , have nrl Girlfriends in the women’s websites , and just dominate the zeitgeist .
Dominating the zeitgeist = revenue .

Forget about what it’s doing to the integrity of the game . As long as the sport is #1 on reddit , YouTube , TikTok , instagram … then it’s all good

I reckon this all started with Issac trying to get Galvin to Parra to help Mitch because they lost Brown. Now if the dogs sign him it screws up his plan. And maybe destabilises the Dogs playing group and screws up Parra too.
Richo offered the contract knowing this would happen. Not only has he gotten rid of an unwanted player 18 months early he has destabilised 2 of our closest rivals. Richo is playing 4d chess... lets go with this narrative?
