OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Well, Lachie is about to find out that actions have consequences. Good call, Benji
If he’s dropped to Reggies, what odds he pulls up lame at training and withdraws injured. At the salary he’s on, keep him as backup and he can kick stones in KOE or RMC. If he’s going to Parra, offer him an exit in exchange for Lomax. If it’s Manly, we take Olakuatu off their hands. Tigers can make lemonade from lemons on this one

He can stay injured for 2 years if he wants. See what that does for his value. He's 19, he should be in KOE or reggies anyway.

We made accomodations for Galvin given he was the long term plan. That included impacting fainu and to a lesser extent, doueihi. He's no longer in the long term plans, so why not give Adam and latu the roles? Its not like they arent capable. Adam would have been far better last round than Galvin.

Especially if Naden is back. He was looking great in the trials.

Now is the time to send a message. We need to do this so no one messes with us moving forward. Hold Galvin for next 2 years and let him kick stones. Enough is enough. Richo knows what he is doing.
No to mention the young players we let go like Onitoni Large who saw their path to first grade blocked by Galvin.

I think Benji doing him a massive favour here.

Shielding him from the fan backlash, as well as an embarrassment on field when Luai freezes him out of the game.

He and his team have done himself no favours. The optics are incredibly negative and there really isn't coming back from this, imo.
Hopefully he will be dropped but more importantly, there should be no future 1st grade games for him

I desperately hope dropping him this week is true - would be extremely proud of the club for taking a firm stance here.

Will be interesting if he doesn't play first grade consistently again this year or next, how that will impact his value on the open market. $1m+ a season is already paying on potential rather than reality, and I struggle to see other teams committing that for a kid they theoretically can't get in their system until 2027.

It's possible that in his pursuit of the "best development opportunity" he's going to lose ~2 years of experience playing first grade that will dramatically hurt his immediate and future earning potential.

Could have all been avoided if he and his team just kept an open mind!
I think dropping him is what we should do, next we need to come out and flog Parra without him, show him he is not needed in the team to win.
Maybe then he will realize that he's only a legend in his own mind.

The player backlash has to be a big part of it... They have all bought in and don't want to play with him...

May and Pole, absolute legends..
There is one way out for Galvin , sack Moses today , and throw ur self at the playing group and say I was wrong , and Richo where’s that contract

Get a few bits of mail from time to time... anyway apparently the decision to drop Galvin wasn't Benjis but that of the senior playing group. After the SMH article came out the senior players approached Benji last night and said that Galvin has disrespected you which means he’s disrespected us and the players don’t want him in the team.

Yep theres a lot of smell in all this...too much BS.
There must be something already lined up...no one knocks back a certain 6 million without knowing what the future holds....something fishy going on but as usual the NRL have their heads up their arse
The NRL are complicit in this situation. Isaac Moses was banned as a player agent up until a couple of years ago. They lifted the ban and what do you know, he's up to his same old tricks again. A leopard never changes its spots.

Great mail thanks WSB, a united group playing and respecting Bags.

All I care about is we don’t back down and we show leadership.

He should be playing reggies this and next few weeks given what has happened at least.

He shouldn’t be released unless we get something in return from the gaining club. This is typical Moses behavior with his clients. Galvin will instantly find a club and be paid more than he is now.

Ouch. That has to bruise the ego and knock a few zeroes off the contract $.

one day I wanna

It’s a tough call. I want the team to win so any % increase of that I’ll take. But , I also want the club to make a stand on stuff like this. Optics are that wests are a doormat. Dropping him would send a signal that those days are “nearly” over. Maybe.
I’d play him this week and gauge whether he’s going to be able to cope with the heat and whether his teammates have lost all respect for him. Also depends how he’s trained/prepared this week. From there, you probably have more insight into the way forward.

This is not good for the ,NRL of the RPLA and if the media are fair dinkum about supporting the game that is the story.
One of the so future called stars of the game and his manager working a system that the NRL endorses and now fans and young player are at odds with each other over a contract that no one should be talking about with 18months to run
It stinks and they need to act.
