OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Galvin and Luai play two different styles and Galvin is most certainly not trying to be Cleary either so I think they will simply play off each other. The second trial probably provided an inkling as to what is likely to happen. There were times when the halves slid across in attack as the play moved laterally across the paddock keeping the edge combinatiosn together and also a few times where Galvin would sweep around in a fullback type move.

I think the key takeaway is that we won't be playing a left and right side half they will react to what they see opening in front of them as opposed to a conflict of calls. It may be a bit clunky at first but it will come together the longer they play. I have no doubt that Luai will be prioritised over Galvin, but the X factor is probably Api at 9 as he reeds the play well and will make decisions from there as to who gets priority service.

That will be exciting to watch as the combinations gel. We have real potential to deliver points if we get the lines right and AD (in the short term) can keep his head in the game. In the fullness of time, with Galvin's fitness, I can see a sweep involving both him and Bula outside of Romey being able to produce a four on two opportunity from 40 out.

Our biggest issue isn't the conflict of two dominant voices in attack; it will be our ability to defend. I have concerns about the fragility of our edge defence with the fit centre combinations we can currently field.
Yep, well said.

It's been my biggest fear that Luai + Galvin won't gell, so far as you say Galvin is following Luai's lead. Nothing too dumb like left half vs right half or Benji repeating double pumps 3 games in a row...
Actual ideas with Api doing good service and Luai positioning in the right spot.

"it's our ability to defend". Spot on, and sadly it will be improved by signings and not coaching.
Center/wing has been our key gap. Naden/Olam are out and they probably are our better current defenders*. Skelton at least makes 1 wing solid... Bird seems to be able to hold his own when at center... If Turuva remains at center, defensively he is weaker but can still at least make the tackles. Turuva ofcourse is a massive improvement on Starford or A(where is he)D.

Staines is still weak on the wing, but what's destroyed us defensively is having two weak sides. Both left and right being poor. I expect this season we can lock down 1x end of the field and that would allow Luai to watch the other end and shift people as needed. our 1 vs 1 tacking needs to improve but this is a better situation and who knows Naden -> Staines may just lead to both edges being a defensive rock.

*low bar, but that's where we are at.

FWIW, I work with a prominent player Agents son (name withheld) and he often shares at high level some intel on clubs…apparently the Eels are not fussed if Brown leaves, they were not convinced by Browns performances last year when. Moses was out injured….they are prepared to throw up to $1.4m a season to lure Galvin to partner Moses for the next 10 years…The Galvin family and his Manager are aware of their intentions

That sounds plausible, but given the belief around Galvin he is going to have more than a couple of options to consider and they will all be favourable.
I understand fully why Parramatta are not sold on throwing the bank at Brown. Naturally talented player but only emerges occasionally. Looks way to comfortable at Parra.

10 years,
Do they know Moses is 30 already?
Sounds likely though.
Weather they're the best fit for him will need to be determined though.

1.4+1.4 in the halves though might stretch them!

Galvin can’t play for another club until 2027, that year Moses will be 33. So Moses is going to play for NRL until he’s 43?

You should email that to Richo

I don’t see Galvin and Mitch as a good pairing
Both are dominant on ball players + Galvin will be close to moving into the forwards in 2-3 years time as he fills out his frame
Any team chasing Galvin will have to factor in his future transition to the forwards

having potentially $2.7 million of your cap tied up in the halves is salary cap suicide. if they are willing to pay that and bend their roster completely out of shape, let them.

Cap will rise significantly after the next Broadcast deal...$1.4m per season will be likes today's $900k.
Yes this figure could be reached when the next deal happens but for the elite player in his prime at mid 20s, Galvan is only 20 this year and is still growing it would be dangerous to offer even 1mill right now.
