OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Latu should be our 7, luai our 6, and Galvin 13. Latu straightened our attack and took the line on more in 20 minutes then Galvin has all year .
I'm of the opinion I'd rather see how Fainu goes at 6 before throwing the kitchen sink at Galvin, Fainu might not work out better but we won't know if we don't try, other thing is if we ever do decide to move Fainu into the halves what do we say to Galvin. Though if we offer Galvin this 5 year 5 million dollar deal and his team say they want to test the market, Fainu straight into 6, Imo if Galvin does that he's leaving, I won't commit a second to any player that's not committed to us. Why should we keep helping him to develop. Give him the Hodges treatment that Bennett gave him.

if we don't offer top dollar someone else will, and he'll go. We've won 3 spoons in a row we can't afford to let good players walk.

Market is too crazy now for halves in my opinion
But is he worth it, or is it another Brooks
scenario where we jumped in and then carried that problem for some years.
Galvins a talent, but he’s not going to deliver if he hasn’t got good teammates around him. Where do we draw the line ?

The problem with that is that Lachie will play a lot of first receiver at 13 and he doesn’t play direct enough for that (yet). Not sure where he plays but at the moment, his best setup plays has been when he is wide of the ruck and can isolate players.

We draw the line at getting good teammates around him.

Sounds like you’re wiping him before he’s even made a decision.
As for giving Fainu his spot just to see how he goes…. can you name me any other club that drops a spine player from first grade just to see how another bloke goes?

He has had zero impact. The only thing people can say are things like 'energy' which is something that is a collective and shared, not from an individual
That’s fairly wild tbh … he’s had a massive impact on his team mates and I don’t think we’ve had this much fan fare as a group since peak benji

We are easily 1 or 2 plays away from having 4 straight wins and you think he’s offered absolutely nothing?

Just to make it clear Weidler came up with $5mil for 5 years without any
solid source. He said so himself on the footy show last Monday night 24/2.
My guess is he has been on this forum.
The club has not come out with any figures at all.
So these clowns are playing a guessing game.

He played great footy last year, at 18 years old, in the worst team in the comp

He's a 5/8 - he's got Luai and Korisau leading the team around. He can just play footy. Completely different to Brooks, who the club always tried to make a halfback.

This constant chat of moving Galvin in to the forwards - not one part of his game has indicated that he is capable of doing that right now, besides the fact he's tall

He's got pretty average leg speed and he doesn't play direct at all. You lose all of his playmaking ability if you hold him to the middle of the field. He's also not that great in contact

Maybe one day he'll play there, but it's easily 5+ years away. This forum has a terrible having of wanting to play guys out of position constantly.

I'm wiping him if he says he's going to test the market if we offer the kid a 5 year 5 million dollar deal, if he wanted to stay he'd sign straight away.

That makes sense doesn’t it. Benji sees it differently though, with our 13 as predominantly a defender and our 6 playing off the 7 which is dulling the 7’s attack. I thought we got Luai to run the team from 7.
Benji needs to move Galvin to 13, Latu 7 and Luai 6 and play the halves each side, therefore giving Luai more freedom.

Those 1-2 plays where we could have won is where he should step up. As the 1.2 million dollar half or 'Batman'. Sadly he is and always will be a Robin, he's a Robin to a 19 year old lol. It will never change. We were leading both games vs knights and warriors and in the last 20 minutes he didn't step up at all. It might take till mid season or later in the season before you guys realise what a waste of money it is, considering how good latu and galvin will be, and where we could spend that money on centres or another 2nd rower

I thought he played back row in his junior footy? Here’s the thing, everyone wants to play 7, 6 or 1, that’s where the money is. 😝

The Galvin vs Fainu thing is interesting and I think everyone wants Fainu to be the better player given Galvin’s likelihood of leaving. Also the fact that Fainu has only been seen in small doses in First grade.

IMO Fainu has a bit more talent, but Galvin is going to get every inch out of his potential over the next few years. I’m not yet convinced that Fainu has that same work ethic. Galvin is a sure thing, while Fainu is a “could be”.

There is a reason why Fainu hasn’t been able to unseat Galvin and the media are all over Galvin while Fainu barely gets spoken about.

Who knows what would have happened if Latu had not been injured at the start of last year. Galvin got a rails run to start and has kept his nose just far enough in front so far.
Latu is no worse off than any other upcoming half waiting for injury/suspension to show his wares
Much like at Melbourne hynes and wishart the most recent

Came back to training this year overweight... not the best look but maybe also a wake up call for the kid.
On Galvin... he's already proven he's a real first grader and Fainu will get his chance.
Would be great to have both in the team with JL driving them... let's hope it can somehow happen.
