They're losing Galvin next year anyway by the looks of it, and due to the small amount of cap he'd free up ($350k by all accounts) it might be that they can't fit a say, $800k player in.

Seems like a similar player to Royce Hunt. Hard to carry two players like that on a bench.

Especially with rumours of his mum stating that he was always injured. There is a classy player in him, and we all hope that he gets to show it on a regular basis.

There has been some mention our club sees his future in the backrow.
This is the correct call, however he wants to keep playing 6. I’m sure he realises that Luai is a better 6 and Fainu is likely better as well.
He has been made promises somewhere else that locks him in at 6.
I reckon this has something to do with him claiming he will be better developed in the halves at another club.

I dont get all the chatter he wont be here after this season...Eels dont have a player we want a trade on i dont think and the money he is on next season is neglible so we dont need to cut him to save cap space. I dont think its worth it just to free up a top 30 spot, we have other players we could do that for.

I'd keep him as a backup half/utility and yes give latu more game time.
If Latu or Luai get injured, great to have galvin slot in and give good service

Why would he tank?

Its in his interest to play the best possible football to increase his market value...

And if we come into 2026 and he's signed with another club and he isnt performing, play him in NSW cup and utilise him as a backup for Latu and Luai... Nothing lost.. especially if Luai plays origin in 2026

I would love to keep Galvin at the club next year, have said as much several times as I think he should be made an example of.

But it never happens. Ever.

Last I heard Bateman said he intends returning next year to see out his contract, but I can't see that happening.
