OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

For a bloke who “probably never wanted to be here”, he sure does smile a lot. Even at Lidcombe on Monday with body guards and the worlds media documenting his every move - the kid was out there having fun with his Magpie mates.

He’ll probably get booed by the Leichhardt crowd this weekend but I doubt it’ll stop him enjoying his footy 👍

Getting lapped...
Having fun with his Magpie Mates - getting lapped.

He was 18 when he made his debut and his first release request was on 10 Jun 24 following the loss to the Dragons.
Nope!!

Wests Tigers boss Shane Richardson has revealed 18-year-old sensation Lachlan Galvin made multiple release requests over the summer as the club kept signing halves.

- Summer ends in February....
Requested multiple releases before he debuted.

I actually don’t think it’s all that complicated.
He has been here over 3 years and during that time, he and his parents have seen the club receive
  • 3 x wooden spoons at NRL level,
  • 1 x spoon, and 2 x bottom 3 finishes at KOE level
  • Mixed results in Flegg but one of those was also a spoon.
Add to that the board in fighting, Hagi and Pascoe, 2 coaches sacked, lots of players leaving contracts early…..their mind was made up in 2023. The club threw a Hail Mary at them last year promoting him way ahead of time but the spoon finish likely sealed it. He was gone.
Nothing that’s occurred in 2025 has affected their decision. All the noise around Luai and co is just that. They found a better offer and that’s that. It’s not Benji’s or Richo’s or the player’s fault….its just the perfect storm of shit from 2022-24 that convinced them this place isn’t for them and that’s not a betrayal or snake behaviour or anything else…it’s just human nature to protect your son.

As a very stupid man once uttered…it is what it is and the club is paying for the pathetic performances it’s put in over the past 3 seasons.
Respectfully Tuck all of this would make sense if he was off to the Dogs or Penrith or Melbourne. But when the most likely destination is Parra then how are we supposed to believe all that? How are we supposed to believe he's leaving for his development when he's most likely leaving to go play under another rookie coach (who was a prop) rather than a coach who was one of the best 5/8's of all time? Do you honestly believe that he can develop his game better at Parra then at WT's where he won the RLPA Rookie of the year & made the PM's 13 in his first season of grade? Ryles openly expressed his desire to make a play for Galvin (despite him being under contract) & Moses admitted to catching up for coffees with him because they're just mates aye. His agent is the Uncle of Parramatta's star halfback & with Dylbags future being under speculation all summer this has obviously been in the works for a while.

Tucker wrote - "When he was first pushing for a release he was under age."

It strikes me odd as well and I’ve said so. Obviously I don’t know the timing. Maybe they spoke after spoon bowl. Parra were a far more enticing club than ours at that stage.

Which is why we need to keep Moses out.

Crying out loud. We had Bula signed to a local player agent. We found him and got him an agent. Then he signs with Moses, due to Galvin/Bateman/etc.

It's nto that we have lost Galvin... We have likely lost Bula too because we let this dodgy agent back into our club!
Not nessisarily, alot comes to personality, I'd actually be surprised if Bula did leave, he seems settled and happy. Iv no doubt the club are in his ears about looking at changing manager. If we don't hear about Bula changing manager then I'll start to worry, I reckon he might. He could also just tell Isaac just get me the best deal at the Tigers you can I don't want to leave. Though if I'm him after all the chaos this bloke has caused and how it's effected the season of the team I'm playing in, I'm kicking him up the rear and getting a new agent. It's all good to do whats "best" for a client, but not at my expense as one of your clients also.

Does he though?
He said he thinks he’ll be better developed elsewhere and the narrative has become he hates Benji, thinks he is a shit coach and doesn’t want to continue working with him….its so stupid. He hasn’t said any of that.
He didn't say it directly his manager did when he presented a list of coaching grievances to Richo, Moses is speaking for Galvan isn't he, so yes he didn't directly say it, he said it through his manager.

Oh my God - there is another Moses involved.

“I am instructed to confirm in response to media enquiries that Hilliard and Berry Solicitors act for Mr Lachlan Galvin,” said Simon Berry, the solicitor acting for Galvin, in a statement provided to this masthead.

“This firm has retained Mr Arthur Moses SC and Mr Dilan Mahendra on behalf of Mr Galvin.

Surely he is not related.
What's one more
Will this do? This is Richo saying this;

“The stuff about Benji and all the rest of it, he has never once said to us, not one time has he said to us, that Benji’s not a good coach or can’t coach,” Richardson said.

“What he said to us is he wants to be the best player I can be, and I believe that I can be that at another club.

“He’s never said (Marshall can’t coach). Lachlan is a very honest kid. He’s as simple as it gets. He loves his footy. If he were sitting here with you, he would be twirling the ball.

“He just loves his footy. He’s always had this thing in the back of his mind that he could obviously get a better opportunity elsewhere.

“The bottom line is though from that point of view, Lachlan has never said that in any way, shape or form (that Marshall can’t coach).”
Noone said he did Tucker, they said his manager did on his behalf, whilst providing a list of issues with the coach. It's snakey behaviour in a team environment to be documenting things to use as ammunition to support a claim, without giving the coach a chance to look at them and sort them out 1 on 1 as adults. It's sneaky and screams convenience. The bigger point is he is 19, any news outlet will take his call all he has to do is say I want to publicly apologise to my coach as I don't agree with what my manager claims about his coaching ability, though I will still be leaving in 18 months. He has never once come out and distanced himself from the comments. Imo your paying the manager to represent you, if he says something you don't openly disagree with, you obviously agree with it. Also the list had specific details about a wrestling match where Galvin was told to stop early cause Benji didn't want him hurt or something and Galvin complained it affected his defence development. Those are only details Galvin could give, Moses doesn't have esp. It also shows Galvin has been planning this for awhile, giving these details speaks volumes about his intentions. Any player in that situation would brush it off and forget about it, but if you remember and record it, your looking for excuses against the coach. Like I wrote earlier instead of going to Benji 1 on 1 to resolve it and giving it as a reason to Moses, shows Galvin had no intention of the player coach relationship working, showing the lack of respect he has for Benji as a coach. It's sneaky, snakey behaviour. That would be what's really got the players offside. The seeing things and recording them instead of addressing them.

Clubs will realise what they are going to get with singling Galvin
1, A great young footballer
2, scumbag Manager
3 Father who will want it all or else / see Tigers shit show
4 Current players in said team thinking this is great until shit starts , see Tigers shit show .
Galvin could now be a little on the nose to high up clubs , Manly , Dogs , Roosters all say no thanks , Parra a scum team / Cheating team will most likely be the landing spot , I would not keep Galvin even if he come in and said I messed up can you offer me a deal , simple answer should be absolutely not , tell dad to piss off
Apparently Braith last night said the Dogs didn't want a bar of him because of the red flags with his management. Also the Dragons and Manly have both pre-emptively come out and said they don't want to sign him. Clubs arnt silly. If it doesn't work at Parra for him it'll be off to superleague. Like Tallis said the last player who had all the talent in the world that was in a situation like this was Jackson Hastings back in the day.

In Gus' latest podcast today about the 32-min mark, he continues to imply there is another reason which hasn't come out why Galvin wants to leave and it may never become public. He says it's a situation that needs immediate mediation for all involved. Whether Gus is just trying to sound like a know-all or actually does know, it's all up for interpretation.

I have said on this forum previously that Galvin reminds me of Hastings a bit. That being, a player who gets a lot of touches of the football but doesn’t do a hell of a lot with all those touches. Plus, both are bigger halves that are slow.

Well done by Richo. In the media, we need to make sure it's never a "Us vs Galvin" situation.

He was as transparent as he can be about Moses.

I understand the "senior players" are upset at Galvin or whatever it is, but they need to move on from that.

Galvin hasn't asked for a release and at least in the media he's said he's here for 18 months. He's in our best 17 every week so now we move on and focus on football.

The legal/ mediation works can be sorted out by management and player managers.

Apparently both Flanagan and Seiboldt are managed by Moses.
