OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

I don't agree with the commentary around Brown at all.

If the guy up your street gets a crazy price for your house, that's nice, but it doesn't mean that everyone else in the street can now ask for the same money and that other buyers will be compelled to be offering crazy money.

Knights wanted Dylan Brown, they were desperate to make it happen and they've offered huge money. That does not automatically confer onto all other halves in the comp, especially because Brown is not a proven winner nor a rep player.
Of course but it depends on the street…halves are like having harbour views atm

I’m hearing that Wedler journos is saying. 5 year deal $ 5 million and Galvin will still go to market , what would that tell us , he wants more or he wants out
He was always going to market.

If true I’m happy we’ve come out early with a more than fair offer because we can plan and move on without being held to ransom.

you mean to lock??
Yes and no, yes I think he could be a good lock. No, I think if he signs a big contract with us and we don’t make the 8 or if he goes elsewhere for big money and doesn’t make a mark he will quickly earn the overrated tag. There already a few who think he is overhyped and I’m one of them. Short step from over hyped to overrated.

I think he is an energy player who has some great moments and at times has some dud plays but he is young and learning. I would really like to see him stay and would be ok with the club bumping his contract up for this year and next and then what ever after that. If he is killing it then great he is earning his keep, if not either the player or club will want out and now days either one will find a way to break contract.

As I’ve said before there is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the year let alone end of his contract.

if we don't offer top dollar someone else will, and he'll go. We've won 3 spoons in a row we can't afford to let good players walk.

Market is too crazy now for halves in my opinion
I think the market is actually tougher in forwards.

Halfbacks, yes hard to get. Galvin is NOT a halfback.

He is a half, someone who can kinda play in the spine.
Not a replacement for: Cleary, DCE, Reynolds, Fogarty, etc.

Look, we will overpay Galvin by 200-300k. He will stay, we will get a solid but not brillant performance out of him. ...

I just hope we can move his position when a real GUN comes and wants to play 5/8.

i guess the big question is if we offer 5 mil for 5 years and he says no do we fast track latu? I think i would galvin can play centre or bench or reggies. In saying that i hope he stays

100%

Hope he stays. But if he is gone, he doesn't get to keep his prefered position.

Galvin would only be playing in the halves if Latu or Luai were injured etc. If Galvin signs elsewhere, developing him is no longer a priority and he serves where necessary in the team i.e Centres, lock or at 14.

There's no 85kg number 13's playing NRL He's about 30 kg lighter than Yeo. I think that comparison, or fantasy, needs to stop.
This forum has forever been obsessed with turning outside backs and halves into forwards. It’s complete fantasy. No club would be looking to play Galvin at 13. Fantasy needs to end. Likewise with Fainu. It’s going to be one or the other long term. We don’t keep both.
