Latest Coaching Rumour

When put into context, a 30% success rate at getting the Wests TIgers into the semi finals appears quite appealing to me. I would fully support a Todd Payten / Tim Sheens ticket to get us back on the rails. At least we know they are both capable of winning premierships.

Sorry Knuckles , but what do you see in Payten

We need a hard nosed no nonsense coach with NRL experience if we replace Potter

Not Todd Payten

He hasn't even seen life outside the Tigers in regards to coaching

At least Kidwell has seen what works consistently at NRL level under Bellamy

Hard nosed no nonsense coaches don't seem to work mate. If you want someone like that you might as well hire Brian Smith ….... which for a year or two may not be a bad move.

The reason i like Payten is the rapport he has with the kids coming through the ranks ....... plus he knows the Wests Tigers culture having won a premiership in 2005\. The players will want to play for him which hasn't always been the case under Potter.

Kidwell is a big question mark for mine ...... yes he may have been Bellamys understudy but that doesnt always augur well for the top job. But I wouldnt say no to him continuing on in some other secondary role.

What is the Wests Tigers "culture"? Consistent mediocrity?

Penrith players wanted Steve Georgallis before Cleary was appointed. I think that says it all about players "preferring" a coach.

I want a coach the players DON"T want

If the coach has the full support of the board and CEO the players who are too soft will piss off

Then we can begin building a team and a culture at the WT's

Something entirely different from the culture of the past 15 (barring when Folkes was here )

Wouldn't it be lovely in the near future that the Tigers were known like the "Dogs of War" mentality

Maybe the Cats with real Claws

You'd be happy with a 30% success rate??? That's pathetic! Anthony Griffin is on a 54% winning average with the Broncos in just 4 years as coach and they have sacked him for a coach who is passed his **best before date** - they're stupid!

If we end up taking Sheens back we would be taking on a coach, who is passed his **use by date** with an incredibly low winning percentage and minimal finals appearances, but oh yes we he won us 1 premiership in 10 years :unamused: WT would be even more stupider than the Broncos if they signed Sheens as coach again - so it will probably happen

Our players have to harden up both mentally and physically. Strange as it may sound this will in it's own way reduce the huge injury toll of the last two seasons which the players have used to their advantage. Whatever players were left to play from the injury toll knew that because of the resulting shortage of players all they had to do for the past two seasons was to turn up on game day in order to meet their contractual requirements and therefore collect their promised money.

Above all we want a strong disciplined coach who does not care one bit if he is not known by his players as a nice guy mainly because he would not tolerate rubbish (laziness, apathy, lack of passion - whatever you like to call it) which has become so endemic over the last two years in the Wests Tigers first grade culture.

Why not have " Ron Massey " as an assistant / advisor to who-ever is coaching wests-tigers next season?
His knowledge of the game, and ability to get the best out of players would be very beneficial to wests-tigers needs.

Yes ….. but with the occasional good year. Thats the reality !

So Knuckles you want us to stay in that mediocrity forever? Why not look for someone who can realistically change the team from being mediocre, with an occasional good year, to being a consistently successful club, a la Manly? That's what I want, I'm sick of following mediocrity and a losing team most of the time!

Only if he can bring Jack Gibson with him

:nerd: you said it happy tiger Steve Folks! You could see the difference when he was here before physically and mentally. if we do have a new coach signed him up now!

Hey, we should install a new diving board at the pool.
Why bother, the pool's empty, somebody keeps pulling the plug!

When Steve Folkes was at Wests Tigers many of the players complained he was too hard on them. Ironically I hear that he has been currently coaching girls. Seriously he would be a great bonus as a coach at this club. Sign him early well before the pre-season training and give the players an ultimatum - if you don't like the coaching set-up ship out of Wests Tigers NOW. WE don't want any more of that disgraceful funny business we had about coaching in 2014.
