So now we're saying the door is still open???

If we've pulled the offer the door should be closed, otherwise what does it actually mean to pull the offer?

This is just ridiculous now.

We've either closed the door or we haven't, if we haven't, then the offer hasn't been pulled.

Seems like he's called our bluff

Nothing is as black and white as you make out. It’s always shades of grey. The dichotomy is false. Personally I am happy the door is still open. Doesn’t mean he will come but it is good business sense.

So now he knows the offer hasn't been withdrawn and we're still waiting for him, so nothing has changed right?

We've pulled our offer because of the travelling circus that was going on, I believe if im reading between the lines on what the new chair is saying. Cut the ducks and drakes and we can talk turkey again, but in the meantime we will peruse other options aka JAC.
As the chair also said you cant commit money elsewhere while an offer is sitting there.

Wests Tigers are not waiting for him at all. The club will pursue other opportunities. If he walks through the door before they eventuate, then they are open to discussions

Well done to the club seem they have handled it very professionally and have made sure not to burn any bridges.

I don't really think Latrell expected it to blow up the way it did. I doubt he expected the Roosters to turn on him so quick when he told them he wanted to explore options at other clubs. I doubt Nick gets told that very often..

Still hopeful we may get Latrell.

What's so hard to understand?

If he accepts our offer before the money is spent he gets the contract

If the money is spent before he accepts the offer he misses out

Does it need anymore explaining than that

@TIGER ....Yep the doors open if they want to walk through it, but what he said was they are now looking at other players and are not going to lock up a million dollars till LM makes his mind up.
Smart move by the Tigers

So nothing has changed, we're still waiting for Mitchell, we're just playing semantics with the words "closed door" and "contract pulled"

The contract is still there if he wants it (it was never pulled) the door is still open (it was never closed) so the ball is still firmly in his court, nothing has changed other than we muttered the words "contract pulled" for a few hours to try to bluff and hurry him up.

This is a bigger joke than I ever imagined, we just look really ready desperate now

We are moving on but if Latrell calls us before we have made other decisions he can but we arent waiting for him. Fairly clear to me

After listening to our new chairman I almost get the feeling that this supposed “withdrawal” of the contract is also acting as a ploy to try and lure him
Who knows lol
Regardless I’m entertained by the thought of possibly getting some new faces for next season

You seem to only hear what you want to suit your agenda. In contract law there is offer and acceptance, we made an offer which he can accept or not, at this stage he has not.

However that money offered is tied up until such time he accepts the offer or not which means we can’t offer that money to anyone else.

Withdrawing the offer means we are no longer by law obligated to provide that contract and we can offer that money to someone else. If Latrell comes back to us before that money is used then the door is open, if the money has already been used to sign another player then the offer won’t be the same.

That is not what is happening at all, the club said " We were not pursuing other players while the offer for Latrell was on the table"" .
"Now the offer is pulled we will be pursuing other players, as it is a very active market".
How is that anything close to what you are describing, and how is it a joke.
It is very simple, we will chase other players, JAC for example, if they agree to a contract we spend some of that money, if Latrell wants to change his mind, he needs to do it before we buy anymore players.
A smart move from the club, not exactly sure how you think it should have been played.

Ahh the emotions of the forum...Take the POM at his word and move on. Latrell wasn't the issue in all of this, it's another peanut manager thinking he can play clubs off of each other that's the problem.

See this is what I don’t understand. Can’t these ‘adult’ players make a decision on their own without having to cowtow to their manager’s wishes? If they want to accept the offer and they don’t agree with the way their manager is handling things, can’t they just override them? It’s their life and their career after all.

Mitchell was never coming here ...

How dare you say that!!!

Apparently Mitchell really really really wanted to be a Tiger but his manager hog tied and gagged him

I don't think you understand just how stupid you sound. Because, as The Pom said... This ordeal is far from over. Latrell Mitchell is still clubless as far as 2021 stands and most likely will not want to be playing reserve grade throughout 2020. So, it remains, where will he sign? Not the Titans, despite their persistent interest, because, as Mal said: They only have $100k in their cap. Definitely not the Cowboys, they have Val now. Souths won't have their Burgess money til atleast mid 2020, and Roosters will not release him to Souths.

So, unless Latrell wants to take the unappealing route and play reggies for a year I think we'll see that this pulled offer is more of a warning or a "shot across the bow" as Pom described it. They'll be back. Now enough of your dribble please.

Thanks for that - I didn’t realise that. So tabling an offer means in essence funds are frozen? Now, because it’s withdrawn, we can make other offers.

Correct but by withdrawing the offer we can now pursue other options with those funds. The “door being open” just means he can come back and start negotiating again however that will initiate talks of a new offer for acceptance.

Umm, we pulled out of our current offer, that's all. The door should never be closed.

C'mon man, Latrell is just laughing at us now.

He's played us the whole time, now he's making us look stupid and desperate, if he wanted to be here he would have signed already.
Now we're pretending to be tough and come across as if we're in control by saying we've "pulled his offer"
But then come across like fools by saying "but the door is still open" (if you want to wipe your feet on us again one last time)

It's the old "you didn't fire me, I quit" game and we're losing.

WAKE UP you fools

It's obvious he doesn't want to be here or he would have accepted the first offer.
