If this is true, we have to up the ante and bump our offer. Offer him 1.3 if that’s what it takes. I know it’s overs, it’s obvious that’s what it will take to get him here. We’re having no luck, so desperate times call for desperate measures.

Trouble is what we have offered him and then withdrawn was way overs in my opinion. Now people are talking about another 300,000 per year.

How far above overs do you go?

Yes, yes, as far as it takes to get him...... No! the offer we tabled is too much.

850k per year would be my offer. I don't think he is a million dollar player....Yet!

We can't offer him market rate and expect to get him. We have to pay overs to sign players of note. For us he's most definitely a million dollar player. Compare him to Mbye and Reynolds, he's definitely worth more than them.

This is totally just me reading the tea leaves, and I have zero to back this up, but my take on Buzz's tweet is that it might just mean that he has heard/knows we are talking to him again.

Despite the media constantly writing about Latrell, there is total silence of actual facts for a couple of weeks. Nothing new has happened or been said. Perhaps (hopeful thinking) we are talking to him behind the scenes and naking things happen.

This latest piece of info will keep the forum buzzing for another week. From my point of view I hope like hell we sign him, I have no problems paying overs and I have no doubt he would have a dig and he would lift the clubs profile by miles

‘Yet’ that’s the key word, why not get him on board now?
It is a risk, but the positives out weigh the negatives in my opinion, sadly, we are used to dud signings already, if it goes bad we can handle it.

You mean have a waste of 1 mill for another three years. Not worth the money - too big a risk. I know we are desperate but......

I don’t think it will be a waste, we have the cash that we have to spend, we need what he can potentially offer.
It’s a risk, but Not a waste.
We’ve signed a lot players at an ‘Overs Rate’.
Latrell is 22, he will only get better over the next few years.

Yeh, there is no Actual Factuals at this point.
Only authentic source will be from the tigers themselves stating they are in talks again or an official announcement.

O please ..... just give him the full cap money for next 3 years.
Love to have you in charge of my bank account.

They'd be silly to announce it again though. How bad would it look if they got rejected twice! especially after all the news around tigers pulling their offer. I think the only LM news we will ever here from Wests is if they announce his signing.

I hope we do get Mitchell even if we pay a bit more than we want, the blueprint is there for us all to see now Madge is trying the pick the eyes out of the good juniors on the market and then trying to supplement them with a genuine marquee. That should be our way forward along with keeping the decent players we already have then as the years go by all the crap buys JR, Mbye, Packer ect get dropped off then we get more decent players. By that time the youth comes through which then hopefully attracts other players where we dont have to pay overs for.

The point I was making is that we are all over the speculations, I’m not saying The Tigers should announce they are in talks again, just saying nothing should be taken serious until we have a valid source with merit.
That source being the Tigers themselves, not reporters, not friends of a friend who knows a guy etc.

4 years for 4.2 million and he plays fullback

Front load his contract as it seems we won’t be signing anyone else for 2020 with significant value

1.2 million - 2020
1 million - 2021
1 million - 2022
1 million - 2023

This would be great business

1.2 million for 10.5 months? Way overs.
Just stay to the original offer.

He rejected it once so he will probably do it again.

That 1.2 million for next year makes it able for us to not pay too much for the following 3 years knowing we won’t really be buying anyone else for 2020 and may be the reason Mitchell puts pen to paper

He is BB worth more than them - but we paid well over for both of them, however you just get into more deep water if you use them as a yardstick.
The yardstick should be Teddy, Turbo and maybe RTS - the question is, not how good a player LM is but is he as good a FB as the above three players.

Many would say - Yes .... personally I think he is nowhere near as good a FB as them - he is quite inexperienced to start with, can he organise a teams defences? the others do not have an attitude problem either.

He is not a million dollar FB compared to those three, so if we have to pay that type of money I would keep the offer - withdrawn.

Don't think we've got enough 2020 cap space for that

After recent upgrades and the LL signing I reckon we have around $1.2m left to play with for 4 spots. Musgrave sounds pretty much certain, surely we can eventually get the kid across from Parra as another and then we upgrade another later on (maybe Abbey). That’s 3 spots for $300-400k leaving $800-900k for Latrell in 2020

So I think we'd need to go with $800-900k in year 1 of a 3-4 year $3-4m+ deal? Make it average at least $1m across the deal and surely that's enough
