Would love it.
He's a gun.

He was amazing in the world cup and has been getting better and better since.
He loves souths tho.

I reckon the Arrow thing is a smoke screen from Souffs and they announce Latrell next week.

Not in the slightest! I think this is exactly what Mitchell has been waiting for and the reason he and his manager have been stalling.

Incorrect. Infact it may have cost them a bidding war ultimately. Tigs can pay the most. And already have tabled the biggest offer (now retracted) but it’s on the the “table” until tigers fill that cap space. What happens first who knows.

I still think Souths is the team that Mitchell would really like to play with. We can't make him sign with us, no matter how big the offer. What's the chance Souths offload Walker onto us and snare both Mitchell & Arrow in the process?

Hell Noooooo Walker is no where near worth the money he wants... He was a late bloomer and just trying to cash in before its too late and Wayne will not give in to him.. I would pay 500k Max for him

The reported 650k offer for him by souffs is already very generous

If I was him I would knock my Manager over just trying to find a pen to sign.... Crazy Stuff if he thinks he is worth more..
He played 1 SOO game and looks lost and thats the same when it comes to finals games..

Certainly isn't and I would hope we wouldn't entertain the idea of paying that much for him, but I just have this feeling that everything is being geared to work out in Souths favour. Call me a conspiracy theorist with a tin foil hat or whatever, but looking at the situation - Latrell wants to play with Souths, of that I have no doubt and the Burgess money miraculously and rapidly being granted by the NRL well before anyone expected it would be...well that's just too good to be true, imo.

All the cards are falling in place, but I guess the big issue for Souths is that they really need Arrow before they need Mitchell, so most of the cap money saved from the Burgess medical retirement needs to be spent on him. However, I still believe that they will somehow move hell or high water to fit Mitchell in as well. Moving Walker and/or Gagai on should be enough to free up the cash for Mitchell. Whether that can be done or not is anyone's guess, but I certainly wouldn't rule the possibility of the Tigers being a recipient of either one or perhaps both of Gagai or Walker in the whole process.

Certainly not what I would want to happen that's for sure, but more often than not what we want and what we end up getting are totally different things.

The Latrell signing is intentionally taking time as he is being paid by the Roosters since October so by the end of December it’s basically 1/4 of the seasons payments made. He’s not due back to training until January I read.
If a club signs and pays him 800k he is already paid 1/4 of his contract value by the Roosters and then the new contract.

His manager is smart whether it’s Souths, Titans, Tigers or others he has played everyone badly. The longer he takes the more he gets paid and the more options open up.

It’s very bad for his brand and probably not advisable long term but it will make sense.

Why do WT have to be a recipient of either Walker / Gagai from Souths or pushed out players form any club to help them acquire / upgrade existing players that would otherwise be forced to look to other clubs (like WT)? I'm sick of hearing WT could acquire XY or Z player to help that particular club make a great offer for a better player. I do think it shows the general attitude of other clubs to WT at present- the hand me down club. Parra & Penrith trash all over us. Some pride guys and payback is due.

Edit- wasnt it Roosters / Souths that had the book of slights to hold against others. We should too.

If there is genuine interest in our signing any of Souths various cast offs, fine-go for it! If not, we really need to tell Souths to take a hike if they try this one on to free up cap so as to allow them to move on Mitchell. We should demonstrate we are no longer anyone's doormat!

Best solution at the moment would be for LM to join Newcastle and Wests take over Ponga's contract. I have no idea if Ponga wan'ts to join Wests, but he would be a safer bet for us and LM gets to stay near home.

All that matters is we upgrade. Both of those players mentioned are upgrades.

We are in the business of improving our roster and giving our poor old fans something to smile about. This is all that matters

We can call our book a book of frauds for Moses Woods Cleary etc. We are the scrappers of the nrl but i have high hopes we will have a Rock Balboa ending we just needed the rite trainers and the stairs to a centre of excellence to make us the champs.... lol

It would only be 1/6 as November 1st is the start date for the coming season, but either way, I still don't mind that the chooks would be stumping up some of their cap monies if he goes elsewhere.

So if a season is November 1 to October 31 (let's just say for argument's sake), then if a player signs on January 1, with 2 months already gone, surely the $1 million dollar a year rate would be for a full year, and a club would say well with 2 months already gone out of 12, it's only 10/12 (or 5/6ths) of that rate you will actually get for the first year?? Why on earth would you pay* someone the full rate when they were not in your employment the full term?

Or is rugby league just like that?

Edit: Corrected a typo

I don't follow the logic of delaying negotiations.

It's not in Latrell's interest to drag it out as the Roosters would only be paying him based on his existing contract for 2020 - suggested to be around $450-500k. The longer he takes the more he loses.
