Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

Maybe he signed on yesterday but it was too late for the team to announce it? That could be a reason that he is playing golf today.

I'm OK with him taking his time. At the end of the day, when the club you've been at since you were sixteen the other 15 clubs are all the same. He has no allegiance or loyalty to us, the Titans, Souths or anyone. I don't blame him for wanting to take the time to weigh his options.

It's the media speculation that is turning this into a circus. In a roundabout way, we're responsible for that because a lot of us desperately want a player of his calibre, in the past that we would never would be in contention for.

Same, would anyone on the forum move so fast on one of the biggest decisions of your life?

Would you also sign on the dotted line unless you were 100% sure all offers were in and you'd properly considered every option?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if LM waited until at least Souths threw their hat in the ring, post Burgess, to see what was on the table.

Because you are a mug if you sign the first and only official offer, when you don't really need to rush. LM is still being paid by the Roosters and legit preseason training for rep players doesn't start until January.

Doesn't matter if he decides today or January 5, he can't actually play football until the trials.

So well said CB, great perspective 👍

Well yes, but those offers might not be there then.

Not many teams will be able to fit someone on that salary in that late.

I also find it hard to slate him for not jumping to a decision when his hometown is burning down and he's up there with his family. It's been a fairly tumultuous period for that area, and understandably when your hometown is burning down, you're probably not too concerned about contract negotiations when you've got somewhere to play for 2020 and you know suitors will wait for you given your ability.

But we aren't signing Latrell Mitchell

Christian Nicolussi says it himself in the SMH

Lol what lazy reporting. One day our Chairman comes out and says we're interested and then Nicolussi says we're not the following day.

All I ask of latrell, is that, if he is coming here for the money and we are the only real club tabling an offer, I don’t want the club to move forward with negotiations. If he is coming here willingly, I’d welcome him with both arms.

Thanks fellas.

Totally agree, he can kick and he's a big body that can get over the line, but I'm also a fan of our youth.

I think we need to build WT internally first.

We tried that and it didn't work.

home grown talent did work, we just didn't have the board skills to keep them, imagine having teddy, jac, masters, talua, nofo, moses, brooks.....wed win the premership...we had talent and we had developed the talent over years to only let it all go once they became good...nice one...

All the people saying "if he is only coming for the money then we dont want him". 1. Its a job everyone only comes for the money otherwise itd be a hobby or a volunteer orgnaisation. 2. If he comes for the money then thank god because if he was signing for - facilities, record of achievment, home ground, lifestyle, quality of footy team then none of those things would get him too us. We literally need him to want to come for the money its all we have

I'd say the JR issue has probably put a kibosh on any signings this week

I was really hoping the timing was calculated. I.e Bad news before good.

While your comment has a lot of truth, I disagree... kind of.
These players grew up playing the game they love, while they now get paid doing what they love, it kind of doesn’t fall into the category of the standard 9-5 job ppl hate.
Our facilities will be upgraded, I feel our current team has a lot of quality, I agree that our record Isn’t good and the lifestyle caters to specific ppl, it’s not for everyone.
However, the reasons he should want to join the tigers could be argued of the incredible opportunity he has, he could actually lead the team to finals football for the first time in what seems forever, he could actually strengthen his name by becoming a great fullback, he could actually become a better player by joining the tigers.
Latrell spoke of wanting to be challenged, if he truly wants that then the Tigers could offer that.
Without a doubt, the next couple of years are going to be massive for the tigers, as a team, and as an organisation.
The only highlight of staying at the roosters would be to be part of a team to win 3 in a row (which would be amazing)
But imagine the satisfaction for Latrell to come to the tigers and get us to the finals or even win the comp?
Ppl love to compare Lebron James to Michael Jordan, your statement kind of reminds me of what lebron would do.
Go to a team, but only if it’s a super team, high class lifestyle and facilities etc.
Jordan stayed at the bulls, worked with what he had, challenged himself and made those around him better.
Latrell’s main focus should be to take care of his family financially, which the tigers can offer, the team he goes to will determine the person/player he really is.
He could become a Tigers legend.
He should consider us for the money, but join for the challenge.
