As usual, Latrell has split the forum between those who want him and those who don't. Those who argue that, at his best, Latrell is a star are correct but the more I think about it the more I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. I don't think he's ready to commit to three or four years of solid effort. I think he's looking to get some more money and get out. Can't blame him if that's what he wants but it means we should forget him and spend our money where we'll get value for money.

When you have over $1m to spend 2 months before the season starts we don't need to be looking for good value. We need to be looking for the best player possible, even if it means spending slightly above market.

+ marquee players attract other marquee players. People want to win.

I don't care that he's ended up at Souths. the big thing here is that the NRL's so called auditors have allowed a player who's market value is at LEAST $800k to sign on the dotted line for half that. this new chairman apparently doesn't suffer fools and this happens right under his rule. the NRL is pathetic.

Especially fullback centre positions.

I agree. They're backs are fantastic but their forward pack hasn't got a lot of depth to it.

Apart from the fact I hate Souths... I don't understand why the big attraction to playing under Bennett is :man-shrugging:
He is like 70 years old and will be retiring soon , has not done anything in the last 6 years with some good teams , Turned England into a laughing stock for International games.... I cannot believe the NRL are approving this as he has to be getting brown bags from somewhere... NRL is becoming a joke ( My Rant over ) ..

Am I reading that Fox article correctly? South's paid $55k for Mitchell to pay out his agent on the condition that the new agent go through with Mitchell signing at South's? Geez, that's highly, highly suss and unethical. That should but won't raise red flags at NRL HQ especially with their supposed crack down on agents and ethical behaviour.
