It's no huge achievement. 2 players wanted out and one medically retired freed cap space. There was no great cap managment strategy.

We got lucky. NRL could have left us hanging with Mats.
If we were really concerned with cap management. We would front load a few players this year and go into 2021 with a war chest to spend.

Please, no one mention the words front loading again until June. It's a desperate, last minute option that no club should ever consider until its absolutely necessary.

And it sure hasn't helped us over the past few years

I think that's going to happen . Just to what extent . Also who's off contract at the end of 21? Anyone of note ?

Signing players will be the beginning. Almost signings and almost making the 8 doesn't excite me anymore.

Not to mention that the club cannot do it anyway, unless altering contracts and is approved by NRL. It is a bit like the arson being the main cause of fires crap, as one states it and others roll with the fantasy.

I don’t understand the arson analogy but I do know that if you spend tomorrow’s money today then you don’t have it to spend tomorrow.

The NRL’s most talked about deal will be done on Monday with Latrell Mitchell set to sign a two-year deal with South Sydney.

Having knocked back South Sydney’s first official offer on Friday, Mitchell agreed to become a Rabbitoh after receiving an upgraded deal worth an estimated $1.6 million.

Well got to give LM credit for backing himself..

2 year deal for 1.6mil but the 2nd year is clubs favour and has performance base KPI's included.
or he could of come here for 4 years Approx. 4mil with no pressure to perform..

Me thinks there is some form of brown paper bags included somewhere or are we just that bad of a club that we would for go all this money..

Anyway time to move on focus on maybe added 2 other outside backs to the team and pushing for a top 9 position..

From same article... Seems no compo for the chooks...

Following a dramatic 48-hours of back-and-forth negotiations with Souths - Mitchell confirmed he was released by the Roosters with the club backing down on a threat to block the move.

Demanding a payment of $127,000 from bitter rivals South Sydney, the Roosters denied Mitchell’s first release request on Sunday morning and ordered the centre to report to Moore Park for Roosters training on Monday morning.

Mitchell was also warned that he would “breach his contract” if he failed to show.

A series of calls from Mitchell’s management team convinced the Roosters to drop the compensation demand and release the point scoring whiz from the final year of his deal.

The Souths version of the Pom / insider said the heavies were called in...South people who are in business with Politis asked him to drop it.

No doubt in return for something elsewhere...

hahahaha sounds like a soap opera....the heavies I have in my head that make me think of souths certainly aren't business suit wearing corporates.....more like toothless warbs trying to jump the methadone line to get theirs first....

So does that mean that the roosters are a weak as pi*s Club for letting a player just leave like some have criticised the tigers as being regarding matto?
