I hope that when South's hand over the cheque to uncle Nick they don't drop it in case it bounces.

If so, looks like Roosters got their $150k back off Latrell and Latrell got his $800k contract. Good deal all round. Except Mitchell still owes Bennet $55k he gave to Ruston.

Just followed up with this..
OK... for those who keep asking...
Latrell WILL be at @SSFCRABBITOHS in 2020... just fine details of release from @sydneyroosters to be finalised.
Kid has had a tough time of it through all this and just wants to get out and play footy for his new club. https://t.co/sHxqwEpMYI

Latrell knows we want him
Every rugby league fan on this planet knows we want him
We are not going to kiss his backside and beg him to come
If he wants the money he will come
But after all the charades I am not sure it is such a good idea anymore
I just don't think he has a clear head and that will affect his game for some time to come
He's negotiating in the mould of SBW and Hayne...guys that think they are bigger than the game. Hope this whole experience brings him down to Earth, but I won't be holding my breath.
For a guy that could have set himself up on a million bucks a year, he seems to have totally botched it.
I wonder if his pride will get in the way of dialing Tigers HQ to revisit that $1 million contract he was offered?
Will pride get in our way?
Yeah I see what you're saying, but it's like chasing a girl that has knocked you back twice and you won't take no for an answer. You start to look pathetic and desperate and you could even drive them away.
I think we've played it well...the offer is there if you want it...just pick up the phone and it's yours...he know's we haven't gone anywhere.
The big thing to come out of all of this is that he doesn't seem keen to sign on with Souths for less...I think the Tigers know the offer blows everyone else out of the water by a long way...we have simply said when you've finished shopping around, we'll be here with the best value offer. It's up to him to take it though.
Is that the same offer which was canceled on or around 28/11/19?
The same offer that was withdrawn with the comment attached that he could call us to re-open negotiations...it's been widely advertised that the Tigers withdrew the offer, but said we still want to chat if he calls us.
I still don’t see the value in punching out offers then withdrawing them. Why not agree on an offer termination date? That way you find out where the player is at and how long it may take them to make a decision, or if they are seriously considering the offer. Not to mention, that by setting a deadline, urgency is created.
If we gave an offer to Latrell with a 14 day expiry. He then starts shopping around and at the same time Josh phones wanting a contract offer, if both offers put you over the cap, then you simply say to Josh let’s talk next week.

All good, but you didn't make that point initially...
Personally, I think we should have offered and said nothing...no chasing, no withdrawal, no games. If we came across something more interesting, we could have pulled the offer then after a quick courtesy call to see if he was going to sign...
Then again, I don't know what went on behind the scenes for the Tigers to do this.
The Roosters pulled their offer and told him to get on his bike as well...there's obviously a reason they do this, but maybe someone closer to the action can elaborate. On the surface it seems like a pride/ego thing and not wanting to be used as leverage.

Not sure what point youre Talking about?
I still disagree though. You need to set time frames on decision making rather than having the offer open ended. It sends the wrong message. From the limited information I have to go on, Our real problem in the process was making an offer without a meeting between coach and player. Anyhoo, Justin has had more experience than me at negotiating contracts. My concern is how the media have created a perception of desperation and lack of professionalism. It may garner some sympathy for Tigers but it’s not what we need.
I didn’t hear of any offers from cowboys, bulldogs, or tight ones.

Somehow I think a timeframe would have landed us in the same spot as we are now.

This is funny but potentially true.
