Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

@finnzo We're all guessing what Mitchell's drivers are. If proximity to Taree is the primary driver, NQ would be just about his last choice. In that case he'd go for Newcastle first and Sydney clubs next. My guess is that Taree isn't the primary driver and that it's more about a club he feels comfortable with and one that can deliver him personal achievement in terms of his football career.

@swag_tiger Agreed. I'm hopeful and a couple of days ago I was quietly confident. Maybe I need to up my meds because I'm starting to get a sinking feeling that it isn't going to happen. I think we're recruiting well in terms of young players who'll come into our Jersey Flegg team but we (as yet) haven't signed anyone of quality to play NRL. I hope we do but I'm starting to worry.

I find it odd it's reported WTs bigwigs went to Taree chasing him yet there's no photos of this.. yet there photos of latrell. And a garden hose fighting fires....

Looking now like we are chasing him but he's chasing the cowboys...

Yep, there it is! The Cowboys were the smokey that I feared. I actually think Mitchell would prefer to get out of Sydney and the Cowboys seem a much better fit for him. Holmes is the only reason they haven’t been pursuing him harder, but there is every chance that Holmes won’t be returning any time soon. Need to pray hard that he does come back and take up the Cowboys offer, otherwise I fear that Latrell will be lost to us.

Well that’s us out then

Weidler is one of the best reporters for player agent propaganda. I suspect this has more to do with Holmes than Mitchell. That said if this drags out past this week we are no chance.

@Tiger_Steve

Yeah I’ve got that same feeling. The best thing about Latrell being linked to us is the buzz my two boys have been getting about the possibility. It’s all about hope now...😬

We had DWZ signed and sealed by the reports in the papers and even over on Fox.

I hope we get him as he will change our club with his talent and make us a genuine top 8 team with a few dollars left to bring in further hard nosed forwards.

Fingers crossed

Now I know it’s not easy but if this bloke doesn’t sign I think it will really hurt the club. The feel I get from inside this forum and from others is that our fans are just plain sick of being let down by the club/team. Once again our hopes are up and we dare to dream because we are so emotionally attached. Another shattering near miss will not go down well me thinks.

I don’t get all excited by media reports - I think they are full of crap, but I do listen to those I know or believe are close to the club. Frizell, Arrow, Mitchell, JWH, JAC, Brown, Moylan, (there’s more) have all been mentioned with seemingly knowledgeable people stating that we are On the verge of a great signing. Put these together and we are all very very excited. If we end up signing Billy Britain for example, And no one of any note, people are gunna be pissed.

Gonna be hard for JT to sell him the cowboys when he came out on national television and stated he should stay at the Roosters.......

However, it seems like cowboys will offer less money and years than what we will and the report has us offering 4 years at 3.8 mil - can’t see Cowboys offering a big $ 4 year deal due to having the other JT on a 10 year deal and Morgan on a 5 year deal both around 1 mil mark each

We’re frontrunners, however all this media backlash on Latrell might turn him off Sydney and might want to get out of the spotlight in NQ.

This story was either put out for Holmes to worry or for Latrell to drive up his price VIA management - still think he’ll end up a Tiger tho

NQ sti ll want Holmes. Haha NQ vould be playing the game with holmes by using Latrell. Latrell usimg the Cowboys for us.

Will find out about holmes December. Tough decision for the Cowboys.

@Tiger_Steve Yep. I really think Mitchell is the litmus test for our club. If we get him it could be the start of a really good period for us. However, if we don't, a lot of questions will be asked about why we can't attract quality players. We have a lot of advantages in going after Mitchell - we have the money, perhaps only one or two other clubs are competing with us, there are links between Mitchell and Hartigan. You'd think we are well in front so, if we don't get him, it's going to hurt.

@Sully If we got DWZ, we wouldn't even be having this discussion about Latrell. Prefer the latter and hope we land him.

I think I’ve convinced myself he is coming here
I’ve been having all these ridiculous thoughts of him in our jersey scoring trys of inside balls offbrooks 😂
If we don’t land him ,this one might take a bit of time to get over 😆
Regardless my blind love for the club won’t change 😎

Yes I can see where you're coming from but then most of the talk is from press and people on this forum speculating about signings and not from the club. Apart from a sentence from our new chair saying we are interested I have not heard a peep from a WT official.
So yep people will be disappointed if the deal is not done but then ... that is life and we have around $2M for other signings.

Dont underestjmate living in Townsville. Its not for me but its still country living even if it is a city. Latrell is from Taree, he prefer living in dmsllef places like Townsville,Newcastle i bet. I think he might go to townsville honestly.
