G'day @GNR4LIFE: Love you as well brother! But I got a feeling Corey may have been just talking in a light-hearted way, as I am pretty sure he would realise he ain't no match for Latrell. Have a great day :snowman_without_snow:  :santa:

To use another Simpsons analogy, Thompson is Gill when he's trying to sell Homer a car. In this instance, Homer is Madge and instead of selling Madge a car, he's selling himself as a fullback. He's all but convinced Madge, when all of a sudden another salesman comes out of nowhere (Mitchell) and says ''i'll take over from here Corey'', and Thompson is like ''Come on Latrell I need this'', and Latrell is like ''uh huh....Right this way Madge''

I love Old Gill...."Come on I'm dancin I'm dancin".......

Come to think of it, Gill could be Madge while he's negotiating with Mitchell. If we don't make the 8 next year, he could start feeling the pressure.

''Come on Latrell. The wolves are at old Madges door''

He sure could be....I can imagine the phone call.....
"Hey Latrell, it's Madge...how are you? You going to sign with the Tigers? Who's that in the background is that Trent? Oh c'mon don't put him on the phone....Oh hey Trent how are you?"

Wests Tigers' fullback Corey Thompson to fight for spot if Latrell Mitchell signs
By Ed Jackson

Wests Tigers fullback Corey Thompson says he's up for the fight to retain his No.1 jersey if the Tigers' bid to lure Latrell Mitchell to Concord is successful.

The Tigers are reportedly preparing a $3 million, three-year deal to land Mitchell after the Sydney Roosters rescinded an $800,000 contract offer to the superstar centre.

Mitchell is apparently keen on switching to fullback if he joins the Tigers.

Thompson said the club would welcome Mitchell with "open arms" but he won't be giving up his fullback position without a fight. "If Latrell put his mind to it he could kill it at any position, but I played there last year and I'm looking forward to playing there again next year," the 29-year-old told AAP. "I'm always ready for a good fight for a position. "When Latrell comes he'll be a great weapon for us."

The Tigers' big-money bid for Mitchell comes following Ryan Matterson's controversial transfer from the Tigers to Parramatta. Just a year into a $1 million three-year deal with the Tigers, Matterson's move to the Eels as well as Mitchell's falling out with the Roosters has sparked a debate about the value of NRL players' contracts.NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg said the league was in negotiations with the Rugby League Players Association over the issue.

"We've been very forthright to the players association and the players themselves about changing some of the player contracting model," Greenberg said. "That's been rejected by the players association. "We're in discussions with them again about how we bring some of those changes to the fore in 2020. It's an open discussion, we've got some strong views on improving the system to change some of these things."

What happened to the 5.2 million 4 year offer ......

@happy_tiger Pooper numbers should not be taken seriously

Or maybe our powerbrokers get slightly confused

Latrell says NO to 5.2 over 4 years so we play the smart card and then offer him 3 million over 3 years

I know the club is probably gun shy signing lengthy deals given Packer and Reynolds were signed to 4 years, as did Mbye, but players like Mitchell, you give him 4 years. Anything less is too short. Its important to lock him down for as long as possible, because next time his contract is up, it won't be like this time where clubs can't fit him in. He'll have half a dozen after him. Give him 4 years.

@GNR4LIFE Yep, agree. Packer, Reynolds and Matulino are not in the same class as Latrell and their contracts were based on desperation more than anything else. Madge won't allow desperation to creep back into the club I'm sure.

100%. You want to build the team around him.

Three years is the go for mine and reasonable for both parties. If it is working out, I cannot see why WT would not be able to extend at the end of that deal.

...and it it's not working out for him he'll just piss off anyway regardless of contract.

@formerguest Totally agree. Interesting that Corey was quoted "When Latrell comes (to us)" ?? Does he know something?

Love his attitude though - it's why he is very good value. Nofa and he on the wings wouldn't be bad with Tommy Talau in the centres.

Not a lot of back up coming through for the edges though. Just don't think Jennings cuts it - maybe young Cini could be a good replacement if called upon.

Or maybe Brad Abbey might be a chance for a wing spot.

If he is actually signed to the cap 30, does anybody know?
