Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

Not sure if anyone posted this but Distance Townsville to Taree 2000km. Sydney to Taree 312 km. I feel sure his management would find it easier to look after his interests here. Flights between Taree and Townsville would be quite convoluted I would think.

My gut feeling all along was another club to pop up at the last min and we lose out again... That's why I was pushing for us to get this done ASAP but everyone was saying remain patient etc... Fingers crossed I am wrong and we get him
It's very hard been a Tigers Supporter and every year getting the left overs...

Agree. Hard to be patient

@WT2K Hey Mate, Do you have inside info on this ? If so what real percentage would you give us of getting him?
If it does fall over though I wonder who we will be chasing as not sure there are too many Fullback options out there.

No info. Just brining positive energy to the situation

If this doesn't go though the poster who said they caught him signing the contract on drone footage may have egg on his face.

I think the people that thought it was fair dinkum will be covered in omelette

I know I'm showing my age but who else remembers the Lote Tuqiri thread. That topped 100 pages (so we've got a ways to go yet).

At least that was a good outcome!

Was it ?? ...Did we get value for money ??

I think so, I thought Lote was good for us, though it would’ve been a while lot better if he hadn’t injured his arm the way he did. At least we actually had a shot at the title when he played with us.

Sad part is that he won one after leaving us and overcoming injury.

Alex Johnson 😂

I think a lot of this is orchestrated and he's already signed somewhere. Most likely us.

The roosters public pulling of the deal echoed when we did it to Ted and woodsy, knowing that the guys had signed elsewhere.

Maybe we're playing the game, to save roosters some face, with the agreement that the roosters will release him this year.

It certainly would be a WTF signing..... And explains some of the relaxed comments from people in the know around here.

To be fair you've got the patience of a 6 year old on Christmas eve

Valentine Holmes' manager to meet with former NRL star to fast-track Cowboys decision,
report by Sporting News

Valentine Holmes' manager will reportedly meet with the former NRL star to try and fast-track a decision on whether or not he will return to rugby league.

The premiership-winner is strongly believed to be on the edge of a return to the NRL, having failed to make the New York Jets' 55-man roster during this year's NFL season.

The North Queensland Cowboys have been saving space in their salary cap and are believed to have offered the former Cronulla star a mega deal to lure him home to Townsville.

However, the Cowboys have also been strongly linked to a move for wantaway Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell in recent weeks.

However, the Cowboys have also been strongly linked to a move for wantaway Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell in recent weeks.

It's been widely reported that Mitchell holds a genuine interest in a move to Townsville, and is said to be eyeing a switch to fullback.

And Sun Herald columnist Danny Weidler is reporting Holmes' manager Chris Orr will fly to New York to meet Holmes to discuss his decision and attempt to convince the 24-year-old to take up the Cowboys offer.

Having had a contract extension from the Roosters withdrawn, after he baulked at the two-year offer worth a reported $1.6 million, Kangaroos star Mitchell's future beyond next season still hangs in the balance.

Weidler writes that his interest in a move to the number one jersey, where the Cowboys plan to play Holmes, has left the North Queensland club seriously considering an offer for Mitchell, particularly as Holmes continues to drag out his decision.

Mitchell will reportedly fly to Townsville next week to tour the town and the Cowboys' facilities, with a meeting with club great and future immortal Jonathan Thurston, also lined up.

As the Cowboys mull over their decision, NRL legend Mark Geyer recently urged the club to focus on their move for Mitchell, amid concerns over Holmes' immediate conditioning and fitness.

"I know that Val Holmes is going to be a hot commodity if he decides to come back to rugby league, but it's an unknown," Geyer told Triple M 's Rush Hour.

"It might take 12 months to get his body shape back to being a rugby league player after being an NFL player and doing extensive weights and being a lot thicker and being a tad slower for rugby league.

"I'd still gamble on Val, I'd love him back in the game, but at the moment if you made me choose between Val Holmes and Latrell, I'm taking Latrell."

Meanwhile, the race for Mitchell at this stage looks down to two clubs, with the Wests Tigers having reportedly sent a number of senior officials, including coach Michael Maguire, to meet the Roosters star in his home town of Taree recently.

Maguire also has plans on playing Mitchell at fullback if they are successful in luring him to Concord.

You took that seriously? ?

The poster did confirm it was a human drone not an alien drone.

@Newtown Geez aren’t we sensitive. I was coming from the point that if you are from Taree, then Townsville provides a much more laid back lifestyle for a country lad than in the city. BTW, I lived in the Concord area for years and loved it!

Judging from the lastest Sporting News article seems like this is a ploy to make Holmes decide what he wants to do quicker.

@swag_tiger sporting article is not legit, it literally just quotes the different articles from the Tele, SMH, etc...

Well come on then Madge, tell us the goss! What’s the real story? Have you been to Taree and signed the young bloke up yet or not? 😝
