It's a start...Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

If we can sign Lomax as well, Brooks and Marshall have four targets to play to in attack. This obviously includes Garner. Seyfarth with his high workrate and mobility compliments LL.

If people can't see how Mitchell will make us a better team then they don't want to see it. Not suggesting for a minute he makes us a premiership winning side but he will help change the perception that we are club satisfied with pursuing players that are left over. If we are serious about being a powerhouse then he is exactly the type of player we should target and you can only do that when they become available.

I mean, his goal kicking alone this year would have had us playing finals.

I get your point but I think he's they type of player that could assist in changing west's under performing ways. That might be on the field with individual performance. Might attract other players on the fence in joining the club. Will create a positive buzz off the field which will attract sponsors/ crowds etc.. There is a risk but the upside of signing a player of his caliber makes it worth it

Good input, makes as much sense as your "insider knowledge"

Anyways, go away, the adults are talking.

Mitchell tried playing the Roosters for more money and it backfired on him. The Bunnies were definitely his next best choice but that didn't work out either. Then a couple of teams went cold leaving him with just two, and he's hardly kicking the door down to come here is he? I'd rather spend the money on people who actually want to be here. It would be a good result if the Cows gave him an offer he couldn't refuse and then Holmes decided the Tigers would be a good place to land. Dream on...

I have to admit, this has crossed my mind as well. If we are just “the best of what’s left,” what chance of him fulfilling his contract term?
Still, I’m gonna be pissed if he goes elsewhere

@Plato - I think Holmes will go to the Canadian ESL team for good $$$. He has already been seen to be a bit of a dream chased, I imagine they will sell the idea of being there at the start to Holmes and he will probably take it. That will leave Mitchell with the decision between us and Cowboys. Will then depend on what are the press button issues that he will decide on. Lifestyle vs convenience of being still in Sydney and relatively close to Taree. Who knows how he will jump.

As an aside- I always considered Magpies / Balmain and now WT had a pretty good indigenous engagement and participation in the clubs playing ranks. When did this change? I'm amused to see other clubs touted for their indigenous engagement as against WT. Just curious on people's thoughts. If we have fallen off, we should pick it up again.

Yes, I'd like to think he is still hungry and committed as it's easy to become complacent when you're already at the top of the pile. Trust the coach I suppose, Maguire's done everything right so far and is finally getting together a team he can put his stamp on.

@2005magic https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2019/11/08/wests-tigers-deliver-get-out-get-deadly-program/ Probably not the best name for a cause, but at least we are involved in trying to facilitate positive engagement with Indig youth. Latrell would be an ideal Role Model if he was part of this Campaign.

Holmes has got a few more strings to his bow than Mitchell and he will go just about anywhere on earth for the money, but Mitchell is never going to play well if he is remote from his family and friends.

The Bunnies make a big deal about their indigenous support, but most teams including us have always had excellent indigenous players. We have been moving more towards the islanders and Kiwis over recent years - probably because generally speaking they are larger, and with Maguire's New Zealand contacts building we could see more of that.

Why would Holmes be better? Hasnt played RL for 18 months, completely wrong build now and for mine wasnt that special when he left.

Not sure if VH will end up with the Wolfpack they are allowed 1 Marquee signing and SBW's got that tied up for the next 2 years then salary cap restrictions come in not sure what they are

Agree with everything you've written and i'd also like to add that Holmes comes across as a complete douchebag.
