I said before we were first linked to Latrell that I wouldn’t sign him based on his inflated price. I still believe that is true.

For $1M a season you have to be the best player on you team every other week. Latrell has only ever proved he can do it occasionally. For me he is only worth $1M when he has proven he can do it every week like Tedesco, Taumalolo and RTS.

At this stage I’d use $1M to peruse both Lomax and JAC. Far less risk IMO.

If we get him I hope he proves we wrong. If we don’t I hope he proves me right 😂

Agree with all of this.Yes he is a good player but throwing 1m + a year at him will not get us what we need at the club.

By the letter of the law, it won't be granted because the injury occurred prior to his new contract being signed.

Even so, let's say the Rabbits buy Mitchell on $1 Million per season...they then can't get Semi or Addo-Carr....I'd be happy with either of those for $500k and a new forward if the LM deal falls through.

I don't know enough about Mitchell and his advising group, but I think the last thing the'yd want is for him to be seen to take the last option available; i.e. signing with WT.

Hardly a positive news story for Latrell if it's contrued that way in the media. On the other hand, it could motivate him to prove them wrong?

Pure speculation. My gut feeling is, he will go elsewhere.

Being slammed by all and sundry for the way he has handled this contract saga is hardly painting him in a better light.

I'd say the longer this goes on and the more of these stories that come out his value drops. Not just in terms of his next contract but also in terms of his worth to potential sponsors.

It feels like some are just trying to find excuses for the Rabbitohs to be in a position to sign Latrell. As you said, there’s no way Burgess should be medically retired, the injury was clearly pre existing. It’s really clutching at straws.. Meanwhile we haven’t broke (our comparatively large) bank on any signing as of yet, and some how we’re apparently no chance.. Lol, ok.
