The POM explained why. Mitchell himself isn't the issue, it's his manager who happens to be the roadblock.

So are you saying that Mitchell really really really wants to play for us but his manager is preventing that happening?

If Mitchell wanted to be a Tiger he would have signed, it's that simple.

Seriously, not again

You don't have to involve yourself if you don't like it, i wasn't replying to you, you seem to just like complaining.
Go do the dishes or something.

Wow, that's ironic.

Oh so you understand irony, I'm surprised because you don't seem to understand much else

Good, now that's out of your system, can you tell us where Latrell does want to go, because I'm struggling. He's had a couple clubs interested and has not committed to any of them. The Cows asked him what most appeals about Townsville and he said fishing and shooting. The guys mind is clearly not on the game atm. The more I think of it, you're probably right, he probably doesn't wanna play for us. It sounds like he doesn't wanna play for anyone atm.

I have no idea, he doesn't seem to know what he wants so how could I possibly know.

My guess is he'll end up at Souths somehow, sometime but it's just a guess on a hunch.

So you concede he doesn't know what he wants, but mockingly repeat how he doesn't want to play for us, as if that's a reflection on us.

Never said I knew what he wants.

The fact he seems to have no other option plus
We offered him the money he wants
We offered him his prefered position in his prefered location and he still didn't sign.

All that to me seems pretty clear he doesn't want to play for us.

The club has concerns about his commitment to us, so imo they're crazy to leave the door ajar for him.
Like I said before (and you might not agree and that's ok) to me we're the partner ending the relationship but leaving the back door open.

If we have serious enough concerns about his commitment that we pulled his contract, do we want him here on the coin we offered him?

You said he doesn't seem to know what he wants. Probably true. But you're using that as an indictment on us that '' he doesn't want to play for us''. As if there's something is wrong with us. You deny you used those words, but that attitude is dripping off your posts. You think the club are losers because they couldn't basically kick a goal with a wide open net, with no goalie. You're gloating, almost giddy about it. Then you acknowledge that he doesn't know what he wants, meaning he could have turned us down for a lot of different reasons, pretty much contradicting yourself.

I'll say it again, I never said I "know" what he "wants" to do.
It's my opinion that his actions demonstrate that he "doesn't" want to play for us.

If I say someone "doesn't" want to do something.
it doesn't mean I'm claiming i "do" know what they want to do.

I have no idea as to reasons why he doesn't want to play for us, never claimed to know.

E.g
If I say I "don't believe" Pixies exist
It's not the same as saying
I "believe" that pixies don't exist.

Understand the difference before you say I said something I didn't, it's neuanced but significant.

You don’t have to say it. It’s the way you come across. You were rubbing the club’s face in it. Deny it all you like.

Yes I'm saying the club are fools for leaving the back door open for a player that has already demonstrated to them that he's not commited to playing for them.
I also think fans are fools for believing that he'd sign with us to begin with.

If you disagree, that's fine, but it's my opinion and this forum is a place to share our opinions is it not?

I guess so. Even if you have to smash us over the head with it 20 plus times. Just in case you weren’t clear the first time.

I wouldn't have had to if people didn't keep misrepresenting what I ACTUALLY said.
And writing what they THOUGHT I said.

And you also don't have to involve yourself, if you don't like what I say or what anyone else says, you don't have to be here or read it or comment on it.

Either some people's comprehension skills are poor or they read into things what they want to read, not what is actually being said, I'm sure you can also relate to this and understand the frustration.
When someone repeats your words back to you and gets you totally wrong it's only natural to want to set the record straight.

Communication is a two way process. In my opinion it is a poor communicator who blames the other person (or people) for misunderstanding what they were trying to communicate, instead of looking at the way they trying to communicate it as well.

I think what annoyed people about your posts though @Tiger was that you were calling everyone else fools if they did not agree with you. Instead of saying what you think, you came across (to me anyway, and from other comments I don't think I'm alone) saying you know how it is, and anyone who doesn't see that is a fool. People generally don't like being referred to as fools. Opinions are like bumholes, everyone's got one, and none are more "right" than any other.

But what do I know, just my opinion, and yes I see the irony in writing my opinion about opinions...

Yes it's my opinion that whoever thought Mitchell would seriously end up at the Tigers are fools, I think they've been fooled.

If you don't like it, I can't help that.

If you think I'm a fool for believing something, that's fine, I won't cry about it, you're entitled to your opinion just like you said.

If Mitchell does end up here I'm sure you're all going to be calling me a fool, and I'll laugh my ass off about it.

If he signs and I know its an if. It will be funny to see all the peeps on here that reckon he has done a.dirty on the tigers become his feverish fans. A couple of tries and a.few goals he becomes a fan fav.

The kid is trying to set himself up for life this is his big contract he should take his time a get what he can.

I don't think you're a fool mate, I was just trying to show how people were being rubbed the wrong way. You believe what you want, we all do, doesn't make it true though.

Anyway, personally I hope we still get him, though I doubt we will. I don't see who else of such a high standing is even available. I think we got buckley's for Xerri, if he leaves Sharks it'll be to Roosters or Storm. Moylan, please no. Lomax, meh, he'd be handy but nothing to get too excited about.

You can’t very well come out and tell everyone that Latrell was being mean and we never want to speak to him again. It’s completely unprofessional (yes I know he and his manager on the contrary have been, but we’re a professional RL club, not a trash manager or a young player who has no idea what he wants to do), and poor business.

The club have almost said in the nicest possible way that we’re done with Latrell, I don’t think it was meant as a hopeful signal to him to come back and continue negotiating. They then only went on to state facts which include us seeking out other players to fill our roster. The media are loving spinning the whole ‘door ajar’ story, but it’s probably as ajar as it is for any other half decent player in the NRL.

There is zero chance of him going to Toronto. SBW already has their salary cap exempt marquee slot. And the SL salary cap is about half the NRL's. And they've already signed and re-signed a bunch of players in addition to SBW.

I agree that I think there is zero chance of him going to Toronto, but there are 2 marquee slots for each club.

The issue is that your posts came across as quite aggressive and condescending, now that may not have been your intention and I don't care one way or the other as I have a number of people who have blocked me because they do not like the style of my posts, hello @MAGPIES1963 .

You may be right and he may not ever have wanted to come here, but that does not making people fools for getting excited and wrapped up in the hype. It would be like calling my 6 year old daughter a fool for believing in Santa. You seem to be on a mission to take people's hope and belief away, it is fine if you are, but you shouldn't be surprised when you get a little attitude back along the way!

Sounds to me as we have publicly removed our offer so we can work on this behind the scenes with out any pressure fingers crossed anyways

Some with links to a insider in the NRL has said that Latrell's manager has contacted us on terms that we sign him on 3 years for $3 million.

After he played us around, if they came back to us hat in hand I would have thought a second offer would be slightly less than the first. Maybe equal. Definitely not more.

That being said, I would still be happy to sign him at $1m a year, way better than Moylan, and if it fails and he wants out, then we will have $1m to try again elsewhere.

But Im not holding my breath, great if he signs, though now I doubt he will atm.

I think the first deal (if he was released to us in 2020) was:

$800k,
$900k,
$1 Mill,
$1.1 Mill

It's really not much more than we originally offered and you'd expect the manager would try and negotiate up from our first offer. If those figures are true, it's probably where the deal would have landed if they'd just negotiated properly in the first place.

If this is true, I'd take that deal and finish our recruitment for this year with the view to attracting talent to compliment him for 2021.

Fingers crossed this sideshow finishes up one way or another soon!

Yeah you're right with the money. And yeah even now I'd pay $1m totally.
But it feels as if we have more chance of pulling Robbie out of retirement.

I like Madge, but he's got his work cut out out for him, and his job demands results. We need to make finals this year or next, otherwise I think the coach may be cut (Yes again). But if we could have somehow snagged LM, then I think not only would that have increased the likelihood that we would make the finals but it excuse the coach an extra year, as what more could he have done.

JD, I don't necessarily agree. I think Madge is here for the long term (unless he doesn't want to be here). He has started building a culture from within, optimised junior pathways and signings, the board knows he has been hamstrung with Ivan's poor previous signings and our inability to move them on (shows how poor they were).

In saying that, I am pretty confident we will be competitive in 2020 (without making the finals) and a much stronger proposition in 2021.

It will be funnier watching the press conference where he tries to explain why he joined the tigers. That will be comedy gold!!

Why?
