i really don't want him, he has made it very clear we are not his 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice side . so if he does sign its only for the money and the fact no one else can afford him. do we really want a $1 million dollar player who really does not rate us, I doubt it, let him rot in his own mess ,I say.

How would you spend that $1m more effectively? Who would you go after?

I like the idea but how many players of LM's caliber would have West's in their top 5 playing destinations?? The only attractive thing they have at the moment is the availability to pay well over market value.

I think the club has to pay (way) overs for a few and hopefully success will attract others.

You are right, but you only need one player of the caliber, than we're off to the races, because other players like him will want to play with him.

5 players on 200k each.

If Souths can not get Arrow for a year they will have a ton of cap space and 12 months to pull another medical retirement or move a player or two on. I would imagine they are odds on at this stage to get LM and we are very long odds

Of course you'd think that. You’re a pessimist

Bit harsh GNR .....If the report in regards to Arrow not being released by the titans until 2021 is true the rabbitohs at worst are at least equal favourites

Yes Iam a pessimist...but Souths now have the cap space with Arrow being forced to see out his contract. So it would put them in the box seat

if there was a market to bet on LM i reckon we would be favorites. Just going by reading this forum and the internet. Either us or the bunnies. just logically i can't see him going to the titans (could be wrong of course).

And the Roosters will release him to Souths?

Re Arrow...Titans are still negotiation with him. Thus, their "we have no plans to release him, we want to sign him long term" quote is completely expected.

i.e. purely rhetoric.

That will likely change completely once / if he signs for Souths.

just curious. have the tigers shown any interest in Arrow? (hope not)

Chooks want him out the door, of course they would rather him come to us but when push comes to shove they would release him to anyone.

They certainly hold all the cards if they did not want him at Souths, but like with us with Matterson, it becomes to much of a distraction so better to clean the slate

I don’t think so tbh, if you’re the Roosters and can keep Mitchell at the club for 500 k or release him to go to there biggest rivals in which will be contending I’m sure they won’t release him

Even with all the articles they always say Roosters would be willing to release Latrell to the WESTS TIGERS - they never say any other clubs and I feel like Uncle Nick and Roosters executives are behind most of these articles also

Hard not to be pessimistic as a WTs fan and you cant blame anyone for feeling that way. The club hasnt exactly come up with much at this point. I'm hoping one day I'll become an optimistic supporter like we should be.

Bingo. They're going to make it as difficult as possible for him to go to Souths. I can't see them releasing him to them in 2020. If he wants to make a cool $1m in 2020 there's only one place for him to do that.

Is getting gagai and Johnston really that bad though ? If it comes to that , that is ! They both are very good footballers , and would definitely walk into our backline.
People are calling it the booby prize , but in a vacuum excusing LM , would you have taken them at half price for example ? At the moment the tigers should be in the "upgrade where ever possible " game .
Sometimes it's a big signing, most other times it's a slow , arduous process , that's usually murky to the point of appearing like a backward step .
When we set out this off season it was about improving the team . Matteson is definitely a backward step from last year , however I feel him being so hated , would have lead to a net loss next year with him in the team.
But apart from that , it's low risk high upside signings , which improve them team.
I think we win no matter what is my point .
We get LM , sweet !
We get the other 2 subsidised , sweet ! Improvement should be the name of the game

Uncle Nick doing everything he can to help us here...

Tigers boss: If Latrell's serious about switch, we'll re-open negotiations
DECEMBER 11, 2019
Brad Walter
Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis believes Latrell Mitchell has the opportunity to be part of an exciting new era at the club and confirmed his Sydney Roosters counterpart Nick Politis was supportive of the out-of-favour star moving to Concord.

With Politis and Roosters coach Trent Robinson, according to a NewsCorp report, telling Mitchell on Tuesday that there was no longer the salary cap space to extend his contract after he expressed as desire in an NRL.com interview to remain with the back-to-back premiers, the 22-year-old needs to find a new club.

The Tigers had been the early favourites but withdrew their offer, understood to be valued at almost $1 million per season, after he did not act on it quickly and continued to gauge interest from other clubs.

However, the Tigers made it clear they were prepared to re-open negotiations and Hagipantelis said on Wednesday they were still interested if Mitchell showed a desire to join the club.

"We are actively in the market considering a number of options that are available to us and if Latrell is to be one of those options he is more than welcome to reach out to us," Hagipantelis said.

"At the moment I don’t think we are under any particular pressure, we have got a really talented and healthy roster but it is an active player market at the moment and we want to make sure we are a competitor in that market."

Despite the Tigers announcing that they had withdrawn their offer two weeks ago, Hagipantelis said he had remained in contact with Politis about Mitchell’s future at the Roosters, where he remains contracted for next season.

The Roosters have indicated they would release Mitchell for the 2020 Telstra Premiership and Hagipantelis believes Politis would support him joining the Tigers.

"I have spoken to Nick Politis and I don’t have any doubt about that, I am sure the Nick would be supportive of that," Hagipantelis said.

"Nick has been incredibly transparent throughout this process. He has called me chairman to chairman as a professional courtesy, which I am very appreciative of, and kept us informed.

"Nick has not involved himself in any sort of discussions or negotiations or anything of that kind. It was simply as a professional courtesy to inform me of what the Roosters' position was."

Yes.

Ok . Why ? They're good footballers. Better than we have now . Im not being smart , I'm just curious . Is it they're not good footballers ? Or they're over priced ? In which case then at what price would they not be ?
