I've given up trying to make sense of bits of info / propaganda in the public forum. My only thinking now is that if it's true Maguire has gone overseas,and from his and WT previously stated fact that they pulled negotiations due to Mitchell's refusal to meet with Maguire either:

a/ WT have signed Mitchell and he has met Maguire or
b/ no meeting with Maguire and WT remain out of the circus for Mitchell signature.

Friday's Q and A should answer.

Who says they’re circling? I’ve seen a number of news Ltd articles saying they are now real chances but I haven’t seen a direct quote or even talk of a meeting...seems that they’re just creating their own dialogue as they have nothing else to write about.

By that logic you must be certain he's signing with us seeing as 90% of the articles written about LM suggest him signing with us is the most logical option?

The media are grubs. Generally speaking though they may be off the mark but they dont just pull things out of thin air and invent stories, the info they use is coming from somewhere.

Actually they do. The vast majority of stories published are pure fiction based on rumours from forums such as this one, or an opinion piece painted as facts by a journo desperate to keep their job

Literally nothing ! It tells you nothing . Could be his planned leave from 13 months ago . Could be in the UK looking at poms . Could be it’s done and he is sipping Pina colada’s in a beach somewhere. Could be we now have 2 mil open after the JR mistake , and some absolute monster players are available.
Worst case scenario is next year we have a kings ransom to throw around after front loading mills worth of contracts.
Who cares it’s Christmas, just relax ! The drought will break ! And it is a drought . Zero players at the top end have signed . Not one of the top players.

Wighton - unsigned
Arrow - unsigned
Fifita - unsigned
And that’s off the top of my head .
Just relax !

If we don't get any of these players we should all chill as well. Players are going to come up even if we just purchase juniors and see what happens. Our cap isn't that bad and we have Reynolds, Packer and McQueen who all appear to be overpaid and potentially Mbye as well. We can attract players it's about getting the right players. If that takes time and we don't stuff our cap up so be it.

Mitchell to me is the player most likely to improve our team out of the players available but he appears risky at the moment mostly due to his temperament. This isn't a superstar player coming to you fit and raring to go. He sounds like he is a bit of a mess right now. If he is overweight and unmotivated he may be a distraction for any team.

To me best case out of that list we get Mitchell but if we don't stuff the cap up and we are in the race over the next couple of seasons I'm cool with it.

How long do you think Canberra have taken to sign Wighton and still havnt done the deal? The T Brothers were in negotiations with Manly for months before they committed. Really think the reaction to the time frame is over the top.

Yes, but it was all the 'inside sources' saying it was done about a month ago that has led to the frustration.

Like how they were lying about Cleary or Matterson wanting out. I apologise but i disagree i dont believe they totally make things up i tend to believe that their sources are off the mark.

I can't do the mental gymnastics on the timing of the Q&A.

Is it just random? was it booked in to that date prior to LM saga?
If it was to announce anything I would expect some information to be leaked in the media by now. In saying that, every day some "insider" sprouts something, who knows.
Would Madge be there if it was to announce such a big signing? Unless his trip was planned prior to the LM saga and the club is the one that wants to break the news. Or, there is no news and this is just a scheduled event.
Are they having it because of the LM saga and they just want to put it to bed for the Xmas shutdown.

The club has to know that they are gunna be hammered with questions about signings, if they didn't have anything to announce why do it? Or maybe it is a proactive move to categorically put it to bed.


Jesus, this is taking up way too much of my bandwidth. I hope there's an answer one way or the other.

I don’t think the Q/A has anything to do with a final decision on Latrell

Our last Q/A was right in the middle of the Matterson drama and we just said the typical “he’s contracted for next year blah blah”

If there’s a Latrell question, they’ll probs hit us with a “we’ve withdrew our offer because we want to be active in the market, but are still interested”

If he doesn't want to sign with us pretty sure the club and Maguire would know that better than anyone. It's not as if we as a club have come out and changed position on it. If Latrell is interested he needs to come to us and if he doesn't, we have lost nothing and move on.

I don't know who there is to move on to? If Latrell doesn't sign, we promote some youngsters come January/February, front load some of our bigger contracts, and go nuts next year.

So really, we can wait till mid February really for Latrell to ultimately knock us back. If an opportunity comes up we can grab it, regardless of what Latrell's doing.

But gee this forum isn't going to make it till February with Latrell still umming and ahhing...
