Here is one of the things that suggests that the tigers may not be being honest about Latrell. The WTF signing suggested Maguire has caught a big fish and that it was being kept very close at hand to maximise membership potential.

It went on to suggest it would not be broadcast for atleast three weeks.

Who else fits the bell?

We know that tigers offered
We know that Latrell met the tigers on a few occasions
We know the tigers have no other signing off significance
We know that Lee and Nick Politis chewed the fat.
We know the rooster were happy to release trell to the tigers ....

Then we started to know not very much, everything went mute.

A few people claiming (no idea how genuine) that he is still a done deal.

Wayne suggesting Souths have no interest, other sources suggesting no cash...

The JAC option

There is a lot of substance to this all, too much to suggest this is all a pipe dream.

**I still think he will end up in tiger land**

Early nek week I rkn

I say long odds..back to the Chooks and the circus starts again next year when more teams are in the market place

If that’s the case, Tigers won’t be putting their hat back in the ring I’m pretty sure.

$700,000 year 1
$1,300,000 year 2
$1,300,000 year 3 clubs option
Take it or take off
Our club needs balls
And not footballs either
If the deal is not already done then we need to cut all ties and move on
Take up a few of the best off contract players on 12 month deals and make them work for a longer contract
Big clean out in 2021 and we try and start again with a vault full of money

Nooo!
So we have money now. We have maybe 2 players worth 700K. Next two years we could be trying to retain someone. We should do the exact opposite. Get someone we know is good and frontload that contract while we have the cash. Then in the next 2-3 years we will actually have the cash to build the team.

Yeah, could get another Matterson, pay him huge dollars upfront and then be forced to let him go when the stone kicking starts, as he demands more cash for the following season/s.

Seriously watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc&t=496s
it explains true motivation far better then I can.

But too that. Offer Latrell 1.3 million the first season then a 3 year contract of 750k. Why, this buys Latrell a house. The guy is dizzy with money and offers and he has traveled to other clubs going; facilities not as good as Easts, culture worse, not making the top 8, etc.

When Josh Reynolds came here, we sold him how it is. Were rebuilding, we need an older player to guide the younger players. Come join our team and play this key role.

Latrell we need a similar narrative. He is thinking Souths because they offer GI and himself to be a leader, a rolemodel, something more then a footballer. Offer more money upfront, explain that he can either get used to the high life or have some assets behind him when he retires. Explain where he is strong and where he is weak as a player and how Madge will take him to the next level.

^ notice how the above sounds really weak. That's why we won't get Latrell. That's also why I suspect Souths will sign him for 500k or the Roosters will take him back for 600k. Yes we will still be ready for him to sign for 1M and he will take less money to go to a club that offers him culture, development and a good playing group....

how do we be that club?

Couldn't get past the first minute or two, as I just can't listen to this sort of stuff. I am always for bottom up approach.

But it doesn’t work! ??? Not really. On narcissistic people , It will work . But not for the reasons you think . Ie. the desire to be better than everyone around them , to earn more than everyone around them to have more than everyone around them etc. it’s about feeling superior.
Most people just want to pay the bills, feel valued and contribute to something.
So the incentive is to have more control over their own existence , rather than here’s a bag of cash now STFU.
It gets old real quick .

I cannot agree more, which is why I posted the video.
Take a guy like Jamal Idris, who wanted Man of the match to buy an Old Kombie van with the 2K and travel Australia.

You see his aim, you see his thoughts and where he was at. Cash at Penrith, Titans and eventually here did not get him the quality of life he wanted.

We have a bunch of footballers who love playing football. We cannot sign the best talent on Money alone. Lazarus was saying why he went to the Broncos "They were at the top of their game, but they were having Fun. I hadn't had fun in all the years I was playing".

Lazarus was coached by Sheens ...everything always comes full circle

Just no one is in the office and no one has checked the phone messages yet

Well it could be worse ...at least the fax machine has paper this time ...when we missed out on Smith and Taumalolo

But that was because Taylor knew Morse code

And if you ask many his football resembled that era as well

Surely we are reaching the point where Mitchell has to either show up at the Roosters for training like nothing has happened, or sign somewhere else. It can't go on forever - can it?

If he’s staying at the Roosters, it will carry on as business as usual.

That could work for him. A little extra to play out the year in his comfort zone, then hop off to the Bunnies for 2021.

Maybe they are waiting for the Order of Excellence building to be completed before they install a telephone line.

FWIW this souths 'insider' is normally right. He got the Arrow deal and most of their moves right early.

Quote: Mitchell and Souths agreed to a contract on the 18th. It can’t yet be ratified by the NRL I’m told as the dollars don’t work. Seems a few of our current squad triggered escalators in their current contracts through making rep teams, whilst both Knight and Tatola have been upgraded for 2020.
We need to release a player before Mitchell’s contract is approved by the NRL. Johnston as in talks with the Tigers, this looks likeliest. However the simplest move is Gagai to the Titans as they are STILL adamant on a player swap in order to release arrow for 2020 and this would also free up the money for the NRL to approve Latrell.
Gags has been approached by the club and is considering across Christmas.

I don’t understand how releasing gagai would free up money for Mitchell if they’re signing arrow for an amount worth more than gagai’s original contract especially if you consider the fact that the titans will want the bunnies to pay a percentage of the rumoured 700k before they would even consider signing him for that much. The numbers don’t add up. surely they would have to release two players outright while also taking into account arrows money for 2020.

I posted this elsewhere, but to answer your question:

FWIW their insider, similar to the Pom, says they can fit LM without releasing AJ or Gagai…

But…they are worried about their balance. Ie too many backs : they want to add a Pommy forward.

So, they need Gagai to GC or AJ to us to balance their squad.
