Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett has insisted Latrell Mitchell will not be joining South Sydney.

The Rabbitohs have been tipped to be Mitchell’s new home following his highly-publicised falling out with the Roosters.

Dane Gagai and Alex Johnston have been mooted as the potential Rabbitohs players to make way for Mitchell to arrive at Redfern.

Bennett secured a blue-chip signing for 2021 this week when Gold Coast Titans star Jai Arrow committed to South Sydney to become Sam Burgess’ replacement.

And he reckons that was the signing he was chasing, not Mitchell despite speculation South Sydney wants the Kangaroos gun.

“We won’t be signing Latrell,” Bennett told Blindside.

“We have enough centres. I am happy with Braidon Burns and James Roberts.

“I needed a forward to replace Sam.”

Bennett has played ducks and drakes with player signings before.

Earlier this year he insisted Roberts would not be leaving the Broncos to sign with South Sydney, only for the switch to happen weeks later.

Bennett later admitted he lied so the Rabbitohs could conduct negotiations without relentless speculation.

So in other words he will be.

They have big wraps on Adam Douehi who is a future FB option. Bennett may be foxing but they are light on forwards.

Douehi is the man.

We should help South's get Mitchell by offering to sign Douehi
He is going to be a great player
I liked what I saw of him at fullback

He was great in the world cup and continual improvement since.

He's a star in the making.

Here is one of the things that suggests that the tigers may not be being honest about Latrell. The WTF signing suggested Maguire has caught a big fish and that it was being kept very close at hand to maximise membership potential.

It went on to suggest it would not be broadcast for atleast three weeks.

Who else fits the bell?

We know that tigers offered
We know that Latrell met the tigers on a few occasions
We know the tigers have no other signing off significance
We know that Lee and Nick Politis chewed the fat.
We know the rooster were happy to release trell to the tigers ....

Then we started to know not very much, everything went mute.

A few people claiming (no idea how genuine) that he is still a done deal.

Wayne suggesting Souths have no interest, other sources suggesting no cash...

The JAC option

There is a lot of substance to this all, too much to suggest this is all a pipe dream.

I still think he will end up in tiger land

Latrell simply needs to make his bed. JAC’s most likely at this stage. Feelers have been put out and received very well, though that’s no guarantee these days - 1st offer could do the job.

I’m praying Madge is going to contact his former boss directly under the radar about this!

The wtf signing never eventuated, think they said an old sponsor coming back don’t think never happened. Squads pretty average unless some young ones step up or some decent signings.

lol at the outrage at Wayne Bennett lying. Who doesn't? On this forum especially :joy: :joy: :joy:

Can't speak for others, but I don't.

Souths would be wise to try to sign Frizell or David Fifita with the cash. They are not the Tigers they can get big name players.

Their back 5 should be
1. Johnstone, 2. Graham, 3. Roberts 4. Braidon Burns 5. Gagai.

Their backline is strong and also very deep.

They have 14. Douhei as a utility and signed Bryson Goodwin, Gebbie the lightning fullback form PNG. Corey Allan is also a young solid player who would be a backup. Bennett May swing for the fences with Latrell but he would be nuts not to throw the money at a gun edge backrower to replace Sam.

They would have Sua, Ethan Lowe as their only. Edge forwards. Can’t see that being the case when the season starts.

No, like so many recent of this forum's threads, there will be lies followed by more lies.

I like your positivity around a possible Latrell signing Annandale, but did you stop and consider that the earlier posts about a WTF signing may not actually be valid anymore? Those who posted might have thought his signing with us was a sure thing at the time, but negotiations may have gone awry since then, which seems to very much be the case if media reports and posters with 'inside info' are to be believed.

Latrell has to make a decision sooner or later, I guess we will find out the truth in the new year.

But that's the thing he can already negotiate for 2021 season. That is where everyone believed he could be a tiger we had room to upgrade his money for 2020 more than likely giving him a higher earnings for the duration of his next contract.

Latrell would rather go grovelling back to Politis for a season rather than join us for multiple years on more money.
Madge is a smart man. He won't buy anyone who isn't buying into what we're doing.
