It's not "the club" -, it's the current position of the club and the personel, that is not attractive. If you swapped what is at South's to WTs then we secure Latrell.
Maguire was the coach that got South's their first premiership in 40 years, but before that they had a period of trying to attract quality talent much like we are going through now.If we have the money it will turn around. So please save all the smart a comments about our financial position being insignificant when it is the first vital step in moving forward.

South's relied heavily on Crowe's celebrity status to attract that talent, we don't have that so we need to find a way to make a statement to the rest of the competition! Signing Latrell was one way to make that statement, making a deep run in the finals is another. What do we have to quickly turn that perception and our unattractiveness around?

We don't have the success, resources, history, status, location to use those to turn us around. That leaves us in a position where we have to make a slow and steady rebuild, which it appears the club is attempting, but after the past decade that is not a scenario that a large number of our supporter base have the patience for!

Well that's entirely up to those supporters to make their mind up. No doubt when things turn around they will be back on board.
The Roosters are able to remain successful with less support than most clubs. If the current admin have managed to get us into the healthy financial position that we are in now, with our lack of onfield success, we can proboably afford to accommodate the loss of those impatient supporters.

I'm not one of those supporters, I have already signed up for my membership for 2020, just not looking forward to another couple of years without finals footy. It's also worrying that our top 30 roster looks to have moved backwards since last season despite us having a large pile of cash!

He is the worst fullback in the NRL. I enjoy Corey as a footballer but facts are facts, he would not make another team at #1

To the people down voting this, state the teams he would make at number 1?

It’s a silly comment to make, your speaking as if he is a specialist fullback who is terrible.
He was a fill in, kind of unfair To put him in that situation.
My initial comment was simply stating that he didn’t do an awful job at fullback.

One thing Souths will gain to make up for their underwhelming forwards will be LM's kicking ability. The new 20/40 rule will give an advantage to teams with this option. Apart from Benji and possibly Brooks I wonder if we have anyone with a huge boot and no foot size jokes please.

The only good think hes kicking at the moment is stones.

Brooks and a kicker form dummy half are way more important.

unfortunately we don't even have a dummy half let alone one that can kick.

You are probably right and I cant think of one but it feels wrong to say it. The guy genuinely puts in and is playing out of position.

LM has officially announced he’s leaving the Roosters, so it will be put to bed very soon.

That said, can we shelve the hysteria. Most of you are carrying on like him going to Souths is breaking news. We haven’t been in the picture since we took our offer off the table 6 weeks ago. So why is there still so much emotion?

Ah the 20/20 Hindsight brigade.

I think its fair to say that even though West's said they withdrew their offer (but were open to discussions) no one really knew for certain what would happen. Souths had to do x y z and player a had to be signed etc... I mean, less than 6 weeks ago you were stating that there was no way the roosters would release him to souths.

Had we have signed old man Bennett maybe we would of had Arrow & Mitchell.
I get the feeling people don’t like Madge, he comes across as being hard and not a people’s person. Just my opion.!

Won’t see the best of madge until reynolds packer and Mbye are all off the books. Some real hinderance for him there. He has that little faith in reynolds he brought Old man Benji back.

I don't disagree with this comment. Can't forget Madge inherited some overpaid contracts that definitely don't fit in with his plans.

I like the forward pack he’s trying to assemble, still think tigers are one high level prop or back tower away from having a really high level pack.

Outside backs the big issue. Anyone thinking AJ wouldn’t be an upgrade are out of their mind

I agree with this. One quality forward and a couple of outside backs. Hopefully Seyfarth or the kid from Parra develop into a quality forward.

We need AJ but we need more and better than just him.

But if AJ is all we can get then AJ will have to do. He's a good player who had a pretty poor 2019. Only young still.

Imagine if we don't even get AJ....

Id be very happy. We already have Thompson who IMO is equivalent. we are not going to improve by continuing to fill our roster on multiple year contracts that dont improve our roster.

It appears Madge has not turned out to be our saviour , Bennett and him signed at the same time look what we have got compared to what the bunnies have signed. Maybe Madge is on the nose.

You can't blame this on Madge. The bunnies are obviously a stronger and more appealing club to him. NRL players want to win premierships and we haven't come close in the last 10 years. Our rep won't change overnight or with 1 respectable coach. Making the 8 this year and every year on is imperative for us to be considered appealing and even then you won't always land who you want.

Correct. Although this won't please some on here, i must admit i'm starting to question Pascoes ability to get things done. ( i.e selling the club and direction it is heading in) Sometimes i feel like he is learning on the run. We need a kill shortly with all this money.

To quote Scotty of the star ship enterprise, you canna be serrrious???

All you can do is support the team and hope they don't make any big recruitment mistakes. I like the way the team is going now. We just need some luck.

We missed out on latrell,
Won’t lie that sucks.even though we withdrew our offer a month ago I had a very small glimmer of hope we might somehow get him.
I actually think we will be very competitive this year.lots of young hungry players trying to cement spots.not to mention our development players.things are on the up at our club,it’s just gonna take some time to really see the results

The worst thing is that if it's only a 2-year deal, he's going to be up for signing a new deal in November this year. The circus will go on!

Crowe probably met LM half way in negotiating deal. Kempsey I would imagine.

That’s what it says on a Fox sports, that Crowe met Latrell on Wednesday in Taree.

Also that Bennett paid Wayde Rushton $55K, to buy out Latrell’s contract.

That $55K should be added to South’s cap for this year.

Totally agree.
You would think that this boy was a Reincarnation of JC.
There are players willing and waiting to do this club proud.
And some of us are crying about a bloody crybaby that would not even give us a courtesy of attending a scheduled meeting for +$1M contract offer.
Some of us just need to step back from this and focus on supporting the club and current players. Success does not come overnight or with one individual .... if any of us haven’t learned that yet .... then we will need to.

Anyway he wants to play for less money that’s on him, not a slight on Pascoe or the club.

No of course not. But I think in future Pascoe should get in our CFO and external accountants to meet with any potential recruits. They can put together a little powerpoint presentation outlining our financial health and year on year projections. If Latrell was aware of our working capital situation and EBITDA forecast for the FY20 financial year I feel he would have signed.

What a load of crap ...lmao
Power point presentation lol
Most NRL players couldn’t even tie there own shoes never mind sitting through some garbage PowerPoint presentation lol

Mitchell didn’t come here cause we’re an perennial basket case and the coach is too much of a hard arse !

Hook line and sinker falling for that @avocadoontoast post hobbo and surprised your aren't wet as sarcasm was dripping from his efforts.
