Interesting - not tigers related though

"It created a chaotic scenario on Monday as phone calls frantically bounced between the Rabbitohs, Titans and Storm.

The Titans won't release Arrow unless they get a reasonable player in return — or Storm sensation Tino Fa'asuamaleaui a season early after signing him to massive deal, also from 2021.

Wanting to get Arrow done so they could move onto Mitchell, Souths offered up a player — which this column has decided not to name, because he doesn't know — but the Titans board rejected the offer.

Souths also offered the player to the Storm, on the condition they let Fa'asuamaleaui go a season early, meaning the Titans would let Arrow go earlier.

Melbourne also said no. Instead, they wanted the versatile Adam Doueihi. To which Souths said no. It's likely Doueihi would have said no, too."

Not having a crack at you AT but I reclon these kind of reports are rubbish. All of this "you can have this bloke....no we want that one".

None of it considers what a player wants. As if an established player at Souffs is going to volunteer to go to Titans to make way for another player.

I find it hilarious that people think this is over due to a story broken by 'staff writers'.

Does anyone actually think confirmation of his plans would be released anonymously?

At best he could agree to terms, the nrl and roosters still ha e control over it. If he signs then they admit defeat on arrow and have a poor pack for 2020

What's interesting is that Souths consider Latrell to be less important than Jai Arrow.

Going to Souths for less money than his Roosters offer and being considered less priority than a middle forward. Weird change in stature for old Latrell.

At the least, I won't have to worry about whether or not his form will fluctuate next year. I would definitely have loved to sign the guy, but also been clenching most weeks, hoping he brings the A-game Latrell and not the Z-game Latrell, both of which have been regularly spotted.

In other words, does he go Greg Inglis or Owen Craigie?

He was a fill in

And that is in your own words and I don't recall anyone here saying that he doesn't fill that role well, nor give his all to it. Surely all supporters don't want a fill in playing at the back, unless of course he is doing just that, filling in.

He is the worst fullback in the NRL. I enjoy Corey as a footballer but facts are facts, he would not make another team at #1

To the people down voting this, state the teams he would make at number 1?

He is the worst . It’s just a fact . Doesn’t mean , he’s not a great footballer .

Well now the Trell saga looks like it has finally come to the end, we must find at least one back that can actually motor if we have a remote chance of making the 8. I doubt the Fox thing will get off the ground especially for the 2020 season.

Anyway although not his biggest fan, I would be signing Alex Johnson. He ticks two boxes, he is fast and has played no1.

Pascoe rates AJ. If latrell decides on Souths and AJ is made available Pascoe will sign him

Umm.. is Justin now doing the player talent evaluations himself?

Funny thing is Johnston has been discussed before Latrell came into the picture. Was told he could explore his options & a couple of discussions between the club (mainly Madge) has occurred with him.

given we have to still spend a fair chunk of our cap to be compliant in 2020, has Madge been in discussions with any other players that haven't been mentioned?

It’s all got to come to ahead in the next 2-3 weeks. Plenty of clubs moving behind the scenes & it’s only going to take a couple of quick decisions for this player market to explode. But scoring ability is the target. If Stefano falls through for 2020 (which it’s highly unlikely) an impact forward will be chased but so far Setu is impressing.

Any idea who is most likely to be playing nine for us

This could honestly be the hardest question to answer. 3 players have mainly trained there. Mbye, Walters & Reynolds. Could become dependant on who signs. A quality back could force Mbye there with Walters as a utility & obviously waiting on outcome of Reynolds situation.

Reynolds if he isn’t sacked for beating his ex up

@willow can this guy , get the punt please ? I hate this idea normally , but it really seems he’s just trolling , and looking to undermine . I can’t see any benefit to his posts . Other than stirring .

It appears Madge has not turned out to be our saviour , Bennett and him signed at the same time look what we have got compared to what the bunnies have signed. Maybe Madge is on the nose.

This time last year it was between Bennett and Madge as to who might end up being our new coach. Sadly we lost out there as well when it comes to player pulling power.

Had we have signed old man Bennett maybe we would of had Arrow & Mitchell.
I get the feeling people don’t like Madge, he comes across as being hard and not a people’s person. Just my opion.!

Won’t see the best of madge until reynolds packer and Mbye are all off the books. Some real hinderance for him there. He has that little faith in reynolds he brought Old man Benji back.

I don't disagree with this comment. Can't forget Madge inherited some overpaid contracts that definitely don't fit in with his plans.

I like the forward pack he’s trying to assemble, still think tigers are one high level prop or back tower away from having a really high level pack.

Outside backs the big issue. Anyone thinking AJ wouldn’t be an upgrade are out of their mind

I agree with this. One quality forward and a couple of outside backs. Hopefully Seyfarth or the kid from Parra develop into a quality forward.

We need AJ but we need more and better than just him.

But if AJ is all we can get then AJ will have to do. He's a good player who had a pretty poor 2019. Only young still.

Imagine if we don't even get AJ....

Id be very happy. We already have Thompson who IMO is equivalent. we are not going to improve by continuing to fill our roster on multiple year contracts that dont improve our roster.

Yet the same could apply with WT upgrading Thompson for another two years and as good as he gives, sadly it is not enough for him to regularly wear the one jersey. For mine, whilst he is nearly always at his ceiling, in important areas it is feet below that of AJ.

Apart from the fact I hate Souths... I don't understand why the big attraction to playing under Bennett is :man-shrugging:
He is like 70 years old and will be retiring soon , has not done anything in the last 6 years with some good teams , Turned England into a laughing stock for International games.... I cannot believe the NRL are approving this as **he has to be getting brown bags from somewhere.**.. NRL is becoming a joke ( My Rant over ) ..

Anyway just another off season of excitement with all our money and nothing :man-gesturing-no:

A truckload of bulging brown paper bags arrived at Redfern having been shipped from Nana Glen.

That is where it comes down to speculative conjecture. I Dont think AJ is better than Thompson in anything other than maybe outright speed. Thompson has it over him in effort and courage.

A player like Thompson or AJ is valuable to the club in that they can play in a number of positions pretty well but IMO in a successful team there is only room for one, particularly while we are carrying Jennings.

IMO all of this points to CT over AJ, particularly when you consider he will also be considerably cheaper.

Cory had one assist last year. One.

He runs hard and busts his guts, but he has no passing game, is too small under the high ball, and is hit and miss in key moments.

He is not a FB.

There is a reason Madge has pursued DWZ....Moylan....Latrell....Johnson.......

Regardless of which Sydney club he ends at, it seems very unfair for the storm to force JAC to stay there for another season and the type of issue that the Players Association should be taking up.
