Lawrence set to stay a Tiger for life...

And this is where the club should negotiate a good deal for Lawrence in the UK where he can continue his career on softer grounds. We have a host of young forwards in the lower grades and the money can be better spent on retaining our halves, hooker and fullback.

Hard to win with just 4 players - I don't care how good they are.

A smart operation would sign up Cherrington, Brooks, Moses and Tedesco. It worries me greatly the club appears to make Lawrence's signing a priority when clearly the future of the club is the signing of the four players above and Woods. Opportunity cost.

I think you are wrong - they are the priority - but let everything else go to pot eh!

He is the best second rower at the club, that is ok, let him go, let experienced players go and put in a player that has potential. We have potential coming out of our a…

What we need is a couple of players with experience - just so happens he has loyalty and is trying to pay back the club for their loyalty. Oh! and he also does good work off the field, can put two words together and is a good bloke.

Mate - imo you are a long way off the mark in this case.

Even harder when you sign don't the most important players first.

How much do you think we should be offering Brooks, Moses, Tedesco, Cherrington? I disagree that throwing the kitchen sink at four players and having SFA left over to sign 21 players is a solid model either. You have to have a well balanced team. Lawrence at a good price to play 80 mins in the backrow would certainly assist, considering top line second rowers will command more than double the price discussed on Rowdy's revised contract.

Offering Brooks a million bucks a year is well overs as well.

You've lost the plot Paws. Has it not occurred to you that if Lawrence signs the new deal the club has 300k extra in the cap next year, meaning they can potentially offer the 3 off contract guys you are talking about an extra 100k each. You can't just throw money at guys if you don't have room in the cap.

Exactly. You need a solid team.

I like the idea of Lawrence staying for longer on a good deal for both Chris and the club.

Well done CL. A real club man.
These actions demonstrate the reason I feel he would have made an excellent captain (not that I think Woodsy won't in time).
It shows the caliber of the man that he himself understands his real value these days is around that $300K a year mark, and that if he were to insist on the $600K next year, he would not only be out of a job after 2017, but he would be jeopardising the club's chances of keeping Brookes and Moses.
It's a win/win situation.
He's still only 27 and has a lot to offer the club both on and off the field.

WOW!!!!!

You will not get a more Professional individual than Lawrence, well spoken, played through injuries which required Surgery just because we were bone bare on troops in the 2nd half of 2014, goes about his Business without a kerfuffle, always putting the Club 1st.

Had he still been in the Centres? Nope no value.
He has rejuvenated himself in the 2nd Row and has been our form 2nd Rower for a year.
The ball to Lovett last weekend that led to a Try was a pearler, the 2 Tries vs the Titans last year at Leichhardt.

I give credit when it's due and he has turned himself around and never probably complained about continuing to play in the Centres when he was copping it from everyone cause that's what a True Clubman does puts his Club 1st before his own self interest.

At the reported $300,000 to sign him? That is a bargain and his only 27 years old and at the same time helping us out with the Cap.
What did we pay Braith Anasta? $200,000 per year and what did we get from this bloke? Nothing but headaches from this tool.

At that price? Sign Lawrence up.

Paws don't be so sour and give Lawrence some credit.

Keeping him on for 2 extra years at $150k per year…sounds like good value...and it eases our cap issue for 2017....sign here please....

When you put it that way what are we waiting for?

3 years at $300,000 per year starting in 2017 are the figures being mentioned in the article.

Do you ever read what the club and Lawrence are saying??

If you do, then you seem to have nil comprehension about any of it!!!

Now, repeat after me….

Maybe the re-negotiation of Lawrence's contract will help sign the others?

Exactly, and kudos to Rowdy for thinking of the long term future of the club and allowing his $300k next year go to the younger guys.
Rowdy you deserve another 3 years, and a premiership before you retire, you are the epitome of a one club legend for all you do both on and off the field, glad you are hanging around mate, these young guys could learn a hell of of a lot from you.

Yes, that is correct, but also the $600k option for next year in HIS favour. So basically two extra seasons @ $150k each, plus the cap relief next year to sign or retain others, as per the figures you quoted above.

Shows how badly he has been beaten up when he's only 28 and already seeing how his body feels. Definitely one of the most wasted talents in the history of this club. He was going to be in the same class as Tedesco. Very sad.

Rowdy will join the likes of Hodgo, Buckets and Skando when he hangs them up…class acts & club legends all of em

I hope he stays on in some capacity after that as well. !!!

Id be guaranteeing him long, long term employment. Marketing, sports conditioning, you name it.
