Fair dinkim, if Chris Lawrence isn’t worth a $250,000-$300,00 offer by the club then that’s a joke. Guy has given 14 years service to the club at a high level. Broken his hip and his face and still giving his all whilst taking contract pay cuts to keep others at the club. Has been the only stable rock this club has had through years of club crap, board infighting, ceos, 4-5 coaches, Robbie and Benji sagas etc etc. And we offer him a base contract while we have a million plus dollars sitting in reserve grade.

Get it together tigers and do what the majority of fans want, do whatever it takes to release the wastes of cap we have in reserve grade and keep a legend at the club for another year.

What happened to him being cap exempt?

I think the exemption is in total $200k... Chris and Benj(?) I think are the only 2 that qualify....so surely they can fit Chris in

Both Benji and Chris will have to live with a lowball offers which includes $200k cap discount. I think only one will be with us next year and get this bonus and I know who I would keep.

Our cap must be terrible not to be able to offer Lawrence a decent contract. Let's hope they work something out.

@momo_amp_medo
Doesn’t work like that. It’s $200k added to cap. It’s not a bonus given to a particular player. Any one of Rowdy, Benji, Farah and Matulino qualify tigers of getting the bonus added to the cap.

Well said @shakey4d😛oint_up: : I don't know what his $$$ value is, but surely he is entitled to be paid similarly to Benji.
I do agree 100% with the rest of your post :relaxed:

Mate .... I realise that. Maybe I didn’t word my post correctly.
It just means one of the two will get the top up from that increase .....and I know who I would prefer to get it.

Chris will stay !

I think it's more about limited positions in the 30. We have a bunch of players that we'd rather not be there but we can't offload (McQueen, Packer, Reynolds, Matulino) Get rid of McQueen, and maybe we could keep Chrissy.

Somewhat interesting that there is noise this week about the futures of Rowdy and Esan both.

For starters we might well be out of finals contention after Sunday and then it very rapidly does become about 2020 roster management, hence why their managers might be in favour of making some noise.

I don't think the timing is great but also if Chris Lawrence is staring down the barrel of the end of his career, you can understand he might want to make some noise about it, and no specific reason why he can't still play good football on Sunday.

But I do wonder if Madge is going to make some rapid and tough roster decisions if we don't make the finals, and the players know this.

To be fair to Madge, the man that he is, I’d bet he’ll make the decisions either way..

very poor timing, but I understand his grievances. hopefully we can up our offer to say 140k, but as Benji said, you're only worth what the club can pay you, and for rowdy that's a disappointing but true reality.

It is a pity about some of the contracts we ended up with from Ivan and also dealing with another year of a salary cap penalty. No one would blame Rowdy to look elsewhere but someone needs to take control of our cap and make decisions best for the team.

Totally agree with you here about Chris, we get knocked our and next week he is pretty much unemployed or takes a huge pay cut. All he is doing is throwing his resume out there.

I’d like to ask those bagging him if it were your job you were about to lose or your income reduced significantly would you just sit back and watch on or would you try and do something about it.

Is McIntyre in our top 30 next year? Who would you rather have?

After years of trying to clean up a cap mess, it took 1 year of recruitment Ivan style to return us to square one.

No wonder him and Egan are gone.

Yeah I don’t comprehend how things can be that tight with the squad we have.

When you start -330K because of a cap fine and have basically min to low wage earners like Fonua Rochow Farah the only one's coming off as well as upgrading those recetly re-signed as well as the overpaid paperweights you are screwed..

Interesting that Taylor has changed his style of late ..him being contracted ad Rowdy off Madge may feel the experience back row factor covered for next year at least..

The development players in Seyfarth and McKintyre to me are wasted roster spots would rather have Lawrence for 1 more year than either of those 2 but that's me..

I hope he gets a bit more than what's reportedly being offered...poor form if not because the guy has belted himself for the club.....

but on the other hand, it's also his choice if he doesn't think it's acceptable.....he'd cash in over in the UK but if he chooses to stay well......

I’m disappointed at both the club and Chris on this one

Chris making his comments this week isn’t great and no doubt something has been infront of him for a while as their have been talk for weeks now he is playing for a nrl contract & his business.

However the fact that it could be Chris’s last game with us without a proper send off is crap & the club should of locked this down.

I’m not disappointed at his value / offer given, it doesn’t sound like another club has come in with an offer and he is only worth what someone is willing to pay him. He is also making business decisions about staying around his own business which he shouldn’t be filthy at the club inturn is making. He should understand things better than most.
