LIVE 9's Thread*

The good news is our next game is against the second best squad that has been sent over there and one who are sincerely trying to win the event….we may be involved in a record? Lol.

I don't blame people for being annoyed after that effort, i was too, it was pretty pathetic. But it's stupid to think that the effort put in (or lack thereof) is a snapshot of what's to come for the season. Rightly or wrongly Taylor made it clear this weekend was not important. And it showed in the squad we picked and the way we played one out, going through the motions. 90% of our squad are off contract as well as the coach, it's safe to assume that no one will be coasting this year. 9's isn't a gauge of form. Would be like judging a test cricket player on their 20/20 form. The only guide worth anything are trials, and even they aren't a true reflection. So while we're disappointed with the attitude, let's not get carried away by reading more into it than it warrants.

I can not agree here .. when does this club actually want to be taken seriously ,plodding along is this the attitude , I support this club and I want to see some effort no matter what competition it is that is just me !

110K thanks for coming..

They should withhold the cheque

I'd be embarrassed showing up and expecting to get paid for that

Lets just forfeit tomorrow to really prove we don't care

Maybe just play home games in 2017 , forfeit the away games

Who cares , our club sure as hell doesn't , if I was WT's supporter and had tickets proving I'd been to the 9's I ask for a refund

Disgraceful ,disgusting , typical , tell me how anything has changed since day dot

Expect an email WT's

Just go and register for Fantasy League and refuse to pick any Wests Tigers players…

And that is a totally different argument. It's one thing to be critical of today, it's another to think it's going to carry over to the regular season.

Its not the point GNR

Other clubs show up with fair dinky di squads

The 2015 premiers had one person missing from their 2016 9's squad

Why don't we treat it like it matters, what has our club done or shown to prove that we don't need to work on our attack , defence or tactics in the last 5 seasons ??

And you can tell me we are stable financially all you like , but this club could do with the extra cash , mark my words

We finally get some positivity in 2017 , record memberships , etc and this is how the clubs thanks the supporters and members for that

Are you kidding me ??

Really ??

We just don't learn , do we , treat the fans like crap , who cares , we got those suckers money again and we did worse than last year , how stupid are they ??

That is what annoys me the most. The complete lack of trying to be competitive and doing your best if this comes from the coaching staff then they are in the wrong job,if it comes from the board members they should quit and let people who do care take their position. It is not just a job where you clock on clock off and go home you are supposed to doing your job PROFESSIONALLY what i saw today was amateur hour at its worst.

I'm not defending our attitude today 😕

I'm saying it won't have any significance come round one.

Masters looked ok. Suli didn't figure.

We would be better off with a treestump at 7 than Brooks. Edwards, Rankin, Hunt and Littlejohn are garbage.

Without Tedesco, Nofoaluma and Moses though so what were we expecting. Our three best players. Woods too I guess. Liddle and Ballin. We left a lot of first graders in Sydney.

We had more first graders than the 2 other teams we played.

Those guys were first graders? 😱pen_mouth:

Gunners it the club's attitude mate and I'm not being personal towards you

Give the fans some hope for the season , don't show us how bad things will be if we get a few injuries …...

Happy I agree it was poor. But let's not kid ourselves thinking the attitude today is a sign of things to come. Taylor told us it wasn't important to them, which in itself was poor. But it's clear the club has bigger fish to fry.

Sadly any optimism I had for 2017 just evaporated. We finish 2016 with a pitiful effort and granted it was only a nines series but our first up effort today was terrible and all the blame lays solely at the feet of the head coach and the CEO for allowing it to happen.

What today showed me was our depth players are light years from NRL standard and a couple of our first graders are reserve graders at best. Last year I thought at the end of the year we would have to improve a minimum of 10% right across the board in order to compete with the top five. I now get the feeling that bar a couple of players they don't have 1% improvement in them without going to a backyard chemist and cardiologist.

Okay a good win in a up coming trial will probably have me and a few others a little more optimistic but for now I see a bleak year and for me its a big thumbs down to the Club

What makes you think we will improve on last year after watching this?
Is Idris going to improve all our defence, we're pretty much trotting out the same side as last year and we just saw some of our depth on display.
Be realistic, our future isn't looking too bright.
Woods Teddy and Moses are our team but they can't compete against sides who also have 3 or 4 stars but another 4-8 top quality players.

@diedpretty said:
From what i saw we looked like a side just going through the motions and doing everything to avoid any injuries. One out running and surrendering in the tackle. No oomph in defence, no one stretching out with ball in hand. If a few more teams start doing this the 9s format will be in jeopardy.

The problem is that if often how some of our players perform in the regular season.

So come March 2nd when Tedesco, Idris, Moses, Woods and Noffa are added to the team, people will be looking back on today and talking our chances down because of it. Can anyone honestly admit that?

You would think that some of the young or fringe players would see it as an opportunity to get noticed either by the Tigers coaching staff or by another club if they are languishing in in reserve grade and have dreams of ever being an NRL player.
