Some people just see results

Im happy to get a negative result if the effort was put in

Have a freeking go!!

But when you go over and piss fart around, waste peoples time and cant be arsed about showing some pride in the tiger on your shirt, well…why they hell should I bother too?

What are all you people winging about.

If we are hopeless because of what happened today so are
Sharks
Bulldogs
Souths
Dragons
Warriors
Raiders - who despite winning oen easy game against Souths got flogged in their only real challenge and have a worse F/A

I agree the Dragons are absolutely hopeless.
Warriors lost their star half before a ball was kicked, which didn't help.

The others have all had recent success - Sharks have the WCC in a week or two, the Dogs haven't missed the finals since 1865, Souths are technically the holders of this comp (kinda), and the Raiders actually won a game (and came 2nd last year).
There are school kids that haven't seen us play finals footy in their lifetime, so why should we be so arrogant as to think this comp is beneath us?
It's one thing to rest players (I'm on board), but to not even train once or formulate a semblance of a gameplan is pretty poor form IMO.

Spot on Ink, the attitude of those who just dismiss it as a mickey mouse comp is indicitive of our club as a whole,
and those same people all seem to be JT supporters go figure

Couldn't have put it better

Today was such a pleasure.

It's ok to be annoyed about today, but why the panic? The people on the Titanic didn't even react like some of the responses here.

The club has had a lot of positivity despite the you know who dramas , increased memberships , massive improvements in welfare , some positive signings , massive increase in sponsorships and then we decide to reward the fans who have put up with absolute crap for 5 years by picking a 3rd rate squad

Am I the only one who see the madness in doing that …...

What an amazing attacking performance the team put on today. All those intricate plays with decoy runners coming from alll directions..just amazing!

Jason taylor and the coaching staff have been working overtime this off-season

It seems the top teams are getting a pass for not taking this comp seriously because they've all had recent success. So obviously their mentality to look at this as hit and giggle is acceptable, but we try to take a leaf out of that book and adopt the same attitude and our season is over before it's begun. Some are arguing that not caring about this tournament is a sign of accepting mediocrity. But at the same time, putting this tournament on a pedestal and to think the sky is falling cos we haven't taken it seriously is a mindset that only supporters of struggling teams would have. I'm betting the Kennel isn't in chaos over the Dogs day. They didn't even play Klemmer and Reynolds and are facing a fine if they don't play them tomorrow. Probably because they aim higher and so does the club. Our club is aiming higher too.

Maybe the winners cheque of $370k isn't enough for us. We seem to have a problems with recognising revenue opportunities.

Exactly right Gallagher

For a club that most recognize having almost backward facilities compared to the top clubs , an extra couple of hundred thousand dollars and the added bonus of getting some winning confidence behind would be just awful wouldn't it ??

This is nothing like a trial , you lose a trial and we are hoping to get match fitness and build combinations

The 9's is money , damn needed money

like any tigers fan I wanted them to do do better, but some players are better at nines than others just like some are good at sevens rugby and not the full game.

If the weekly comp was only nine men, then it might be a bigger deal.

I half expected we would struggle to win a game…but I did not expect a load of rubbish.

It's not fair on the punters who have forked out money to see them play and not fair on the supporters who keep the club alive

Sorry but Pasco needs to explain why we just plodder through the motions with no interest or intent

Okay it was novelty event and results mean jack but that is not the point...as supporters we want to see something that might make us a little more positive than last round 2016...and we got nothing

Well summarised supercoach. It's the lack of effort which is most disappointing and really is nothing more than the players giving the fans the middle finger so to speak.

Only read about it on here and tweets from the club, but only a meh comp for me and only twenty seven more days until I will take a seat to watch one that I care about.

Not just the players , management as well

They let the selectors pick the squad and sent them away

If we are going to treat the 9's like that , make them swim over there and set them up at the local backpackers or organize billets

Save a few more bob that way :brick:

I like how people are saying "the club" are giving us a raw deal here.

I'm pretty sure JT is the man picking the squad and deciding to put in half assed efforts to these Nines.

Personally I don't have a huge problem with it. Were not a club that can afford any key injuries in February.

However if you do have a problem with it - you need to be calling the coach out - I don't think Pascoe or Go or the new Director of football are telling Taylor not to take Moses, Teddy, Woods etc. Maybe I am wrong on this but Taylor has always answered any question in regards to the Nines during his 3 year with disdain.

I'm sure as hell blaming Taylor for his part in this

And he will get the email that I send as well tomorrow

We could get injuries in November ,December and January as well Eddie

At least if someone gets injured chasing $$$'s the club desperately needs well your getting something

And before you mention how I'd be spewing if someone got injured in a pre season game , I know a bit about that after spending two seasons out of the game after a ruptured Achilles in a trial

Its a risk you take in rugby league , its a contact sport , if it was easy Geo would still be playing

They dont care so why should the fans? Or potential sponsors for that matter? Just a poor look and poor attitude from a club that is widely known as a soft one.

And if this is an example of the new improved "culture"that our coach/management is implementing I'll take the Benji /Farah days every day of the week.

Is funny, there is a history of sides that win the 7's or 9's following up and going deep into the finals or winning the comp within a year or 2

No there isn't.

2014, Cowboys won. Came 5th, lost semis that year. Won the comp the following year.
2015, Souths won. Came 7th, out of finals in round one that year. Missed finals the following year.
2016, Parramatta won*. Missed finals.

So this thing about nines prefiguring success is based on the Cowboys winning nines in 2014 and then winning the grand final… 18 months later. Nines means nothing.

Not that it's important, because it's 9's after all. But look at the way we played. At one point we had a free play and we took a basic hit up. Had we been throwing the ball around we might have gotten closer. But we chose the opposite and we chose the opposite because we didn't care.

I agree with you - but that's why people are entitled to be upset IMO.
By all means pick a half-strength team or whatever, but at least have a go once you're over there.

I agree with this. Personally I think nines is a total waste of time, but you're obliged to be there so you might as well take some fast kids and throw it around a bit. I find myself in the odd position of not remotely caring about the competition and being entirely happy the club didn't risk anyone important, yet still hugely disappointed by the performance.

That didn't end well for most of them though TBF.
