One of the life lessons my old man taught me was that if you are going to participate in something, then you should try your hardest to succeed in it. If you fail, you fail but at least you can hold your head high and say that was my best effort. That way you attain not only the respect of your peers but more importantly self respect.
After that shockingly embarrassing exit from season 2016, i thought the club would be itching to turn a corner. With a no excuses policy for season 2017 it stood to reason that our coaching staff and playing squad would adopt the mantra that we will win every game we play and if we lose, then we go down swinging and our opposition are bruised by the competition we put up. That didnt happen today. Our head coach did not prepare his squad to win and as such they meekly folded and returned 2 losses. This bloke wants a contract extension!
Of course this 2 day comp has no bearing on the premiership but how are we as supporters supposed to believe that our NRL squad is busting their backsides at training and will be prepared to go to war each week for the next 7 months when they couldnt be bothered having a go for an easy 9s tournament? Why should we turn up week after week spending good money to see a side who are only going through the motions? who dont have a collective killer, winning mentality? Has anything changed from round 26 last year? Judging from what ive read and seen between then and now i cant be confident it has.
