LIVE 9's Thread*

Funny we are not the only fans firing up about the lack of commitment and respect. Doggies fans are asking why they should bother bidding for nines jerseys (they are being auctioned) when they sent no names, and the big names sent (Klemmer & Reynolds) did not take the field at all on day 1.

Did the cub send emails asking fans to head to Auckland to cheer on our team? If so, they should be ashamed of themselves. Our coach didn't give a rat's about it yet the club want supporters to waste their money going to support the team.
People that purchased their airfares before JT declared that our team didn't wanna win the tournament should email the club asking for reimbursement.

You know a couple years ago i half entertained the thought of going to N.Z for the Weekend with a few mates for a Weekend of 9's action but there was a bit of Yes , No , Maybe's from Mates , it didn't eventuate .

Now after seeing the Squad that took the field this year and the lack of importance our Club gave to this Tournament….i don't give 2 hoots about it now , i reckon i watched no more than 20 minutes worth over the Weekend of this .
No Clubs give a rats about it so it seems , some more than others a real shame if you ask me .
I hold grave concern for this Tournament.

Crowds were noticeably down this year… stadium less than half full both days

Yes that is a worrying trend and will either spell the end of or a relocation of the event. However it won't or shouldn't be played in day light hours here in Australia with above 30 degree days nearly everywhere. Yeah the NRL will put this tournament under the microscope I'm thinking.

That should be sent to the club.

It's a bit rich for the club to be sending us all emails about flying to Auckland to watch the team play and how we should buy the Nines jersey when they didn't give a stuff about giving the fans something to cheer about.

The club at a minimum should issue a public apology to its supporters, especially those who made the trip to Auckland and those who purchased merchandise. It is really very poor and undermines what the NRL is attempting to do holding the tournament in NZ.

Agree it comes back to the winning culture, sadly we don't have it and this coach won't instil it either.

Why be enraged after the fact?
JT said week's ago that we weren't going to have a go at the 9s.
So we do badly and people are angry???
Be mad when it's relevant or don't be at all.

If you listen to Trent Robinson they certainly did some planning for it.

It's probably not a great quote from Taylor saying they are not excited however it is is the truth true. He did not try and mislead people.

Taylor was saying in 2015 the results were not important (This was in the NRL) That was much more a concern for me.

I don't like the mentality overall. Im fine with not taking the best team, but one your there you try and put everything into it.

I watched all the Tigers games and a couple of others. Im now wishing I'd watched and got involved in the Rugby World 7's. I know very little about Rugby7s and I don't know many players in the 7's but at least they would have played with passion and gave a stuff about the tournament. If they coincide next year I know which tournament I'll be watching.

I wasn't happy when I first read Taylor's views…. No hindsight here

I don't think people are mad because we did bad, I think it's more the fact that from what we saw there isn't much to get excited about once the season starts, and the fact that the Jersey wasn't represented the way it should be no matter what the format or competition.

Surely if you're a young player at any club and you're looking to get yourself into first grade and you get picked in the 9s squad you'd want to show what you've got.
I saw plenty of young talent during the 9s, sadly none were wearing black orange and white.

As Eddie mentioned in his podcast, so many other clubs got something out of this. Not just the ones that got cash but also the ones that show their fans they have depth

Just watched the first half of the Cowboys v Melbourne game.

JAC has not yet learned the art of defence.

Still, just a mickey mouse format.

Should have kept watching, he scored another try, saved one on a runaway Ponga who is quick. He is so far ahead of JT's golden child Rankin it is not funny, a real dumb decision not to give the kid the little money he wanted to stay.

In your eagerness once again - to dump on Rankin you cloud the issue with untruths.

He signed with Melbourne and did not wait for a counter offer from Wests.

Believe all the BS you like - I always wanted to play for the Tigers, always been a big fan…

Rubbish - just like Koro HE DID NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR US!!!!
