I reckon we a prime for an ANZ or new SFS move in the future with 1 back to campbletown and back to Leichhardt game

Sounds good, but lets go Bankwest instead 😛

Don't go to the Leagues Club, even better lets link with a pub in the area and use that instead.

Looks pretty deliberate.

Wests Ashfield wouldn't stand by and allow it to happen if it's on their dime.

Honestly reckon they want to return to being a inner city team (rightly or wrongly.) Ashfield wants to be closer to the ancestral home and it also fits in with the Leichhardt narrative.

A mate of mine has said the Campbelltown juniors is a shambles. There maybe people with differing opinions and I'd like to hear from them but his partners son plays in the Campbelltown comp and the quality he reckons is dreadful. Maybe that's why WT might be stepping back. An opportunity to "come home" for the Magpies, solidify the inner west and keep local.

Again, this is all supposition from what has happened and doesn't reflect my view. I think we should try to maintain our MacArthur presence. Wests have been in the area for nearly thirty years.

Plenty of talent in the group 6 comp always has been. Don't understand why the club would prefer the inner city which has limited growth compared to a rapidly growing area that not only provides more juniors but also more business opportunities.

Yeah fair enough I was taking the opinion of someone who has been observing the juniors comp in Campbelltown. Maybe they are a hard marker, maybe they are just being plain unfair.

Not sure about the Campbelltown competition and how that's going. A lot of their talented fellas probably go off to the Paramatta comp and that's the issue.

The RSL just got refurbed. They'd be interested in taking patrons away from the league's club.

Yeah it looks good, I haven't been in yet but walked past it this afternoon. That is a partnership I would like to see the club pursue if they are going to use Bankwest.

Souths have signed a ground breaking partnership with Macarthur FC.

Wests Tigers are losing the region to Souths and even Penrith..... What is our strategy for our footprint??

https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2021/01/29/ground-breaking-partnership-with-macarthur-fc/

Honestly, I don't know, but think we may be giving up out there. Wests Magpies Canterbury Cup team has moved from Campbelltown.

I definitely think club bosses see our future as being in the Inner-West. Our membership, crowd attendance and general support is much bigger in this locality. And with the centre of excellence coming at Concord I think this is the area our focus should be on.

It is definitely the inner-west, no doubt about it. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to step back and look where Wests Tigers have developed and it’s not Campbelltown.

I'm supportive of where managementarea heading in terms of the football operations.

But, they have really failed to outline a strategic direction for the club, or footprint and our identity.

If we have given up on Macarthur, serious questions need to be asked in the board. I get that we are controlled by Ashfield and that corporate dollar is located inner city.

But, looking long term, inner city gentrifies, we get less and less juniors. Meanwhile, per finger such as Macarthur, have growing populations which NRLs traditional demographic.

If A League can put together a business case to have a fulltime club based there and Souths see it as a strategic area.

I live in Melbourne, and all the AFL clubs are building a presence in the outer suburbs because thats where the supporters are. Hawthorn have moved to Dingkey, Melbourne to casey, bombers to tullamarine, etc

We already have a presence there, we should be leveraging our strategic advantage

Exactly mate absolutely spot on, but the club hasn't cares about the MacArthur region for years because none of the people who own the joint are from here. A lot of the good Group 6 juniors end up at other clubs and I've even heard of people from here interested in sponsoring the club getting no reply from the club at all.

It’s a chicken and the egg scenario unfortunately mate . We needed fans to vote with thier wallets and feet at Campbelltown to want to move there , and invest , and the locals never seemed to embrace it because thier was no investment .

MacArthur , has more of a chance as the area is primarily people from other areas , a high percentage of ethnic backgrounds , and new Australians .the tigers would have had to run at a huge loss to give the investment required .

problem with south West is plenty of peoole who live in area support other teams hence souths and membership numbers

Plenty of people in the inner city support other teams as well. So maybe we should give up there as well.

Easier for the one home ground decision.... But they'll still go softqoc on that too no doubt

30+ years for what?

That's my team 😏

well if it was a thriving area Magpies would have survived

Why should we be doing anything that would drum up publicity for a new club in a rival code anyway? Who cares about Macarthur FC or whatever they're called?
If Souths wants to legitimise an A League club good for them, I don't see why we should, and I can't see it making the slightest difference anyway.

To attract new fans? It's a great idea, promotes more people coming to watch Rabbitohs because they don't have to pay for tickets for certain games. Would've made even more sense for us considering we share a home ground. The clubs can continue to promote each other and help each other out win win really

I think it will benefit the soccer club a lot more than it would benefit Souths.

exactly it is not like they built COE at campbletown
hope we can keep the Junior nursery going though and not let souths in dogs may be next

Even if it's a little benefit it's still worth it. Souths are continuing to push into an area that's supposed to be ours but we ignore it and they're taking advantage.
