Hahahahaha, yeah, quite strange to see debate over a player free to negotiate with the other 16 clubs for almost eight months now.

If there is no junior ready, or no better player to take the back-up half role on small dollars out there, then sure, sign Madden for another year, but just like all the other clubs, there is no need to rush.

Cannot agree with that, as the guy has won premierships at multiple clubs and coaches that did their apprenticeship under Sheens have had even more impact on the NRL than their mentor.

Wasn't keen on the Benji coaching bit at first, and still unsure, though hearing of his commitment by the subsequent early forgoing his media career to put into the club has given me much more hope.

Time will tell, but with many much more in the know stating that he has the attributes of a good coach, and hopefully he is a good pupil, as Sheens has runs on the board as a teacher of coaching skills.

On Brooks, we will soon see whether he is part of the plan.
 
The whole 10 year arguement for Brooks doesn't make sense. Up until 2019, he was giving us a very good return. I think it's how crap he has been in the last 2-3 years which makes me think he needs to move on. Based on the money and time we have invested in him, he hasn't done anything of note. You can only hide behind the argument of a "weak forward pack" for so long. We saw Fogarty, Hunt and at times DCE put in some excellent kicking performances last 2 years playing behind a dominated forward pack.

Typical Brooks. I assume even the haters can see how many tries for us he was involved in and how many good plays he did.

He did what he does best though and miss critical tackles and throw some critical poor passes.

Doueihi was overall much worse than Brooks but Doueihi came up with a big play when it counted.

I'm starting to like the idea of Brooks and Doueihi in the halves with Hastings as a 13. Our attack was good out there.

The problem is trying to get the poor plays out of Brooks game.

Without them, The score is exactly what we thought it would be.

Best half on the park today - And it wasn't close....

Doueihi came up with the big play?
Missed the 2 goals that cost us the game.

Went to sleep in the second half- long time Tigers issue.

He was close to if not our best player in the first half. He had some good moments in the second half.

His dumb plays at critical times are real bad though.

I was worried about Laurie just as much if not more than Brooks but he played a blinder today.

There is actually plenty to like about the team.

I like Hastings at 13 and I've thought it was a stupid idea for ages.
 
Here is a question why does Brooks come up with dud plays at critical times whereas Doueihi for instance came up with a big play.

Doueihi missed a lot of tackles out there and he had some terrible moments. Then when the game is on the line he seems to play off instinct and he came up big time.

I'd argue if you looked at the stats Brooks was significantly better than Doueihi but Brooks missed tackle leads to a try and his poor pass led to a try.
